Chapter 9 Spirit Soul
The pain Kyle sensed was unbearable, something Kyle had never felt before!
However, his initial worry of him meeting his death disappeared in an instant.
There was no time to think about dying!
Instead, Kyle had to pay attention to his body that felt as if it was on fire, making every single cell in his body hurt like hell.
A huge transformation was about to happen!
While the pain within his body continued to increase exponentially, Kyle felt as if his entire being was shrinking.
Only a moment later, Kyle opened his eyes which he had closed out of instinct when his body had started to ache in an effort to endure the mind-numbing pain.
This allowed him to see that the cracks on the outer shell of the Egg of the beginning had started to deepen.
A small piece of the outer shell of the Egg had already crumbled as a faint, emerald green hue enveloped Kyle and the Egg of the beginning that was hovering in the air right in front of him.
Suddenly, for a second, it seemed as if his pain had momentarily vanished.
It was the moment that his Spirit Soul hatched and the Egg of the beginning whose outer shell had covered it, crumbled in thousands of small pieces.
Kyle's hand subconsciously reached out to the Spirit Soul that was still enveloped in an emerald green hue as he felt something warm brush his fingers.
That was when he realized that his Spirit Soul was a living being which caused him to smile faintly.
He had wished for a weapon to survive within the Sadorla forest without the need to rely on the self-made boar tusk dagger and sword.
However, after giving it a second thought, he realized that a beast-type Spirit Soul was even better given his current circumstances.
Kyle knew that he was not in a condition to exert enough strength to be able to wield a heavy weapon!
As such, a weapon-type Spirit Soul would only be an accessory. It would look great, but was likely to be less efficient than the boar tusk weapons!
However, even if his situation would have been better, a beast-type Spirit Soul was partially free of its master's will and didn't need to be ordered around.
Owing to this it could act as a companion!
Through this, it was possible for Kyle to exert double the combat prowess.
At least, he thought that this would be the case if one were to utilize their Spirit Soul efficiently.
Though, he seemed to have forgotten that all Spirit Souls had their own perks and weaknesses.
In the end, it was not important what kind of Spirit Soul he had awakened. Rather knowing how to utilize the awakened Spirit Soul efficiently was crucial.
Kyle had already forgotten the pain he had felt earlier which had disappeared only to return in one tidal wave.
This caused him to flinch and he could barely refrain himself from closing the fingers of his hand containing the Spirit Soul, tightening his grip over it.
The emerald green hue was about to disperse but Kyle couldn't see anything like the overwhelming pain inside his body began to transform into something new.
Kyle sensed that something in his body was being destroyed and renewed at the same time!
It happened at a shocking pace and Kyle was unable to perceive what kind of metamorphosis he was undergoing.
However, what he was able to see was that the runes that had appeared on his chest began to release something!
It looked like clotted blood, mixed with a heap of knotted, thin, yet bloody threads.
Kyle assumed the heap of bloody threads to be malfunctioned, dead cultivation veins and he couldn't help but feel disgusted.
It felt as if something slithered through his entire body and it was difficult to calm down his stomach and thoughts, both of which were revolting at the scene in front of them.
After the malfunctioned and dead cultivation veins had been expelled, Kyle felt that something new was emerging within his body.
It was the soul veins that were slowly forming from a small portion of the old, dead veins that had been left behind.
While Kyle was struggling to understand and adjust to the changes within his body, he didn't realize that the pain he felt had begun to decrease.
Before he knew it, his Spirit Soul had disappeared into thin air!
Yet, the very moment his Spirit Soul vanished, Kyle felt that something appeared within the center of his chest.
It was exactly at the spot at which the Egg of the beginning had been located before.
However, now, Kyle was able to sense something within his body.
The first thing he was able to visualize was a small, less than seven centimeters tall, emerald green-furred fox cub!
'Is that my Spirit Soul? An Emerald Fox?'
Kyle's knowledge about Spirit Souls was not as vast as he wished.
He had heard about Superior Spirit Souls that were considered to be extremely powerful, and if not a miracle, his Emerald Fox was a Lesser Spirit Soul and amongst the weakest at that!
There were different prefixes Spirit Souls had depending on their potential, strength, and other, unique traits.
It was only logical that the Emerald Fox was a Lesser Spirit Soul, and Kyle would have been surprised if it had been anything else.
As such, Kyle decided to think about the requirements of a Spirit Soul to be classified as Lesser, Greater, or even Superior!
'The most important factor is a Spirit Soul's potential, followed by cultivation ability. Thus, energy absorption rate and conversion rate, their strength, and other unique characteristics a Spirit Soul might have awakened may play an important role in its classification.'
For a living being, its racial strength was important to determine whether one was able to utilize the beast-type Spirit Soul as a companion to fight next to or not.
Furthermore, there was a high possibility for stronger beast-type Spirit Souls and higher ranked Spirit Souls to awaken an affinity!
This would allow the Spirit Soul cultivator to inherit the affinity too as a Spirit Soul was a part or rather an extension of the cultivator's being.
He was unsure how much time had passed, but the Emerald fox seemed to have settled down inside Kyle as the pain began to recede.
The soul veins that had formed earlier had already merged with Kyle's body, but they had yet to establish a connection with his Spirit Soul.
This would be the final step before he could start cultivating!
Just as the first veins began to connect to the faint hue that enveloped the Emerald fox, Kyle was able to perceive something from his surroundings which he had never sensed before!
