Chapter 119: Chapter 119: Land of Darkness
Chapter 119: Chapter 119: Land of Darkness
[3rd POV]
Turns out making pancakes for Nora was a mistake, a very very big one. Why? Because the girl would not stop asking for more! Turns out her pancakes were a "Gift from Oum" whatever that meant, and were better than Ren's, who was at one point, the "Best pancakes ever".
So now she had Nora asking for pancakes, and Ruby asking for cookies, after she made a batch once and the girl got a bite of one of her chocolate chip cookies. And she hadn't even made fish yet, and once she did, she'd have Blake coming after her as well, her being a cat faunus and all. Gwen was pretty bored at the moment, so she decided to do something actually interesting for once, in this case, she was in the Land of Darkness, where Salem was located, and where the Grimm were born from. The surroundings were dark and eerie, and she had already consumed hundreds of grimm that had constantly been attacking her.
There were all sorts of dark crystals littering the surroundings, sprouted from the ground, so much so that the very surroundings were tinted in the same color. The crystals themselves almost seemed to be a form of dust, but more dark in nature, and not something Gwen had seen before, so she ended up taking quite a bit of it just to see what it was.
None of the grimm in the area were all that impressive, with most of them being quite weak. Well, to her they were. To the rest of the world? They were some of the strongest grimm out there, alpha's and such. But a single swing from Gwen's blade and their heads flew.
Walking the land, Gwen was surveying the surroundings, while also killing any grimm she came across. She planned on absorbing a grimm pool, but she had yet to come across any. She wanted to do it mainly to see what sort of effect it would have on her, considering the grimm pools could produce thousands, if not tens of thousands of grimm, and there were, from her estimation, over a thousand of these pools in the land of darkness.
The pools were created by the God of Darkness himself, so she wasn't sure what sort of effect it would have, but she assumed it would be a good one. Either way, it wouldn't be harming her in any way. Not in any meaningful ones that she wouldn't instantly adapt to, at least.
After walking for a bit longer, Gwen finally found her target, and the first grimm pool that she had found so far. Walking up to what looked like a small hole in the ground full of pitch black ooze, Gwen leaned down and placed her hand inside of it, as she rapidly began to absorb it into her.
A soft sigh escaped her lips as her veins glowed a dark purple, as a notification appeared in front of her.
Grimm Pool? More like...nevermind

Gwen raised an eyebrow at the reward, as she felt the darkness fill her. The power was...mediocre, but still noticeable. She found that her semblance had gotten stronger...for some reason. She suspected that grimm weren't as "Soulless" as people thought they were. And that is why they were strengthening her soul/spark.
She could feel the power from the grimm, and her connection to her dark and shadow based powers increasing a decent bit. Which was saying a lot with how powerful her dark based powers were at the moment. She was far beyond someone like Salem in the area, so the idea that something like a grimm pool could give her a genuine increase in power, was pretty impressive on the God of Darkness's end.
Deciding that one wasn't enough for her, Gwen decided to continue traveling through the Land of Darkness, absorbing as many grimm and grimm pools as she could. By the time an hour had passed, she had completed even more quests.

Turns out there was a shit ton more grimm and grimm pools in the land of darkness than Gwen had initially expected, and the deeper she went into the land, the stronger they became. Some of them strong enough to wipe out entire mountains and cities, not in one attack of course, but still powerful.
From what she could tell, this world was definitely a bit different from canon, as she had run into at least 5 "Wyverns" during her time in the land, and a singular Wyvern was enough to wipe out a majority of Vale's populace, and Beacon along with it. At least, in canon it did.
She wasn't going to Salem herself or anything, but she was trying to find the main and "Primary" grimm pool in the land of darkness, that a majority of the smaller grimm pools were connected to. It was this pool that was first created by the God of Darkness, and is the one that Salem herself had bathed in.
The more she consumed, the more she felt herself growing closer to "Something" what it was, she had no idea, but the longer she was there, the closer she felt to undergoing some sort of change. The grimm were affecting her species more than she initially expected them to, and not in a negative way.
But after an entire hour of being in the Land of Darkness, Gwen decided to cut it off for now, and return again in the future. And so, she teleported off, while inwardly chuckling as she felt the gaze of a certain grimm queen on her. Seeing as the woman was looking where she shouldn't, she decided to mess with her a bit.
[Far away]
Within a large, dark black and purple castle, a woman sat on her crystalline throne. She had pale white skin, long white hair, and a rather monstrous appearance, albeit a beautiful one. This was Salem, Queen of Grimm, Ozpin's arch enemy, and the greatest threat to mankind.
"...Who are you?" Salem muttered as she looked through the eyes of one of her grimm, watching as Gwen walked through her land, a frown on her face. The girl was either foolish or ignorant, or both. Because no huntress or huntsmen would ever come to this place willingly, meaning she was here on purpose, something that Salem hadn't ever run into before.
The girls power was completely hidden from her, and watching as she slaughtered her grimm with an alarming amount of ease, Salem understood that this girl was not normal. And the second she saw her silver eyes that glowed powerfully, she understood that even more. "...An obstacle has appeared. Seems I will need to pluck out another pair of silver eyes" Salem said with a small scowl, before stopping as the girl seemingly stopped, before looking up at her.
Salem's eyes widened as a voice sounded out to her, which...shouldn't be possible. The voice of the girl, the voice of someone who was more amused by her actions than anything. The
voice of an impossible individual. The voice of Gwen.
She said only a few words, but they were alarming either way.
"It's rude to stare, you know?"
