Chapter 540 – Gu Jiangxin felt his neck going numb. (3)
“Let’s head inside the exhibition hall. Excellent paintings can be enlightening and would inspire and serve as warning in our work and daily lives.”
Mayor Liu led the way.
Walking among his past peers and competitors, Gu Jiangxin couldn’t even hold his head up.
He was deadly afraid of being asked what he was up to recently.
When he felt like he was being tortured and had definitely hit rock bottom, he saw the last person that he wanted to see.
Standing in front of the scenery painting was the familiar President Huang Chuan. He was talking to a beautiful woman and, next to her, stood a tall and handsome man holding a 2-year-old child in his arm.
Even though he didn’t know much about his daughter of 20 years whom he had found overnight, he could still tell from that bright smile on her and the aura from the handsome man next to her.
He never would have thought that it would be under such circumstances when they would meet again!
He could still recall clearly details of the night when he got her out of that old and decrepit house, even the white shoes on her were old and beat up. She was a nervous wreck, so much that she could barely talk.
At the time, he felt that this daughter of his was not poise enough, unpresentable, and would never mount up to anything.
Who would have thought that their positions would be swapped in such a short amount of time!
Gu Jiangxin turned pale. He felt that even his blood had stopped pumping.
He turned slightly and hid behind the crowd, pretending that he was appreciating a ceramic bowl.
At this very moment, Mayor Liu’s voice pegged him where he was.
“President Huang, is this the talented grandmaster Ink Painting Guru? I can’t believe the grandmaster is so young.”
Gu Jiangxin stumbled and also fell to the ground.
Luckily, he reached out and steadied himself on the showcase just in time and barely broke his fall.
There were only two adults standing next to President Huang.
There were no young people next to him.
“Ah, you are flattering me.”
Sure enough, the girl’s voice that was both strange and familiar rang in the exhibition hall.
That very moment, Gu Jiangxin felt that his neck had gone numb and he felt as though he was standing in chilling wind!
He was bone-chilling cold!
Gu Jiangxin only wished he could disappear right then and there.
Luckily, Gu Shishi, being surrounded by the others, did not notice him.
Huo Sishen, next to her, however, looked over at his direction with his black eyes.
Through the glass surface of the showcase, Gu Jiangxin met the slightly cold eyes.
The two men of different age reflected on the glass at the same time. A darker and a lighter image, one closer than the other.
Gu Jiangxin, however, saw it clearly. He was old, useless, and down on his luck. Contrasting greatly with him was the other man’s youth, at the top of the world, and his aura.
He turned away as though he was burned.
He couldn’t care less about Mayor Liu anymore. He stumbled toward the direction where the bathroom signs were.
That very moment, he knew that he could no longer appear in front of this daughter.
His running in the opposite direction of the other visitors, however, attracted Gu Shishi’s attention.
“That person looked somewhat familiar?”
Gu Shishi blinked.
Huo Sishen didn’t say anything. Mayor Liu was the one who took a look and chuckled.
“He is just another businessman.”
Hearing the businessman part, Gu Shishi lost interest.
Only two things were important to her right now. One was Huo Xiao Bao, and the other was painting.
Ahem, Boss Huo was 2.5.
“Enjoy yourselves, Mayor Liu. I need to change my son.”
Gu Shishi had only seen Gu Jiangxin a few times in total so, naturally, she could not recognize him from his back.
She excused herself from Mayor Liu and retreated.
Old Mrs. Chen said she would be here today as well and Gu Shishi had promised that she would spend the entire time with her and explain to her where her artistic conception came from.
Seeing that Gu Shishi did not recognize Gu Jiangxin, Huo Sishen did not point that out to her.
