Chapter 13 - Slave Market
"Huh? Why are you unable to sell it?"
Lucas asked Manager Rean with a curious look on his face.
"The mansion of this property deed is the "Myriad Primordial Forest" where powerful spirit beasts run amok along with their hordes and the huge mansion was already half-destroyed. So, no one is willing to pay for it."
Manager Rean replied with a disappointed look.
Previously, that mansion was owned by a higher knight and unfortunately, he died while fighting high-level spirit beasts. He owed a great amount to the adventurer's guild and they could only take the property deed of that mansion in the "Myriad Primordial Forest".
"Oh."
Lucas nodded his head and understood Manager Rean's problem with that property deed.
However, Lucas didn't have any plans to buy the property deed because it was not worth it.
Seeing that lack of interest in Lucas' eyes, Manager Rean shook his head before giving the 'Raindrop manor' property deed to Lucas in exchange for 5000 gold coins.
"I will send an attendant with you who will guide you to the 'Slave Market' who will make sure you are not fooled by the shopkeeper and then he will guide you to your Manor."
Soon, Manager Rean summoned a young man and asked Lucas and his team to follow him.
'Huh?'
Hearing Manager Rean's words, Lucas frowned for a second and checked his head for 'Slave Markets' and understood some things about it.
Slave Market, as its name suggests, is a place that sells slaves and in this world, Slave Markets are legal and a most profitable business.
"Thank you for your help."
Lucas knew Manager Rean was trying to help them because of Bernard's cultivation.
In the future, when this town's Adventurer's guild needs help, they would ask all the top tier cultivators like Bernard. So, if he helps them with small things, the chances of getting rejected in the future are less.
Nevertheless, Lucas thanked him before following the young man.
"Old man, can you take Evan and go back to the inn?"
The first thing Lucas did after coming out of the adventurer's building was to ask Bernard to take away Evan.
Lucas knew it was not a good place for Evan to be there.
"Okay, but family head, are you going to be okay?"
Bernard knew what Lucas was trying to do and nodded his head; however, he knew that it was Lucas' first time visiting a Slave market too. So, he was worried whether Lucas could bear the sight of the Slave market.
"I will be fine, right?"
Lucas looked at the young guide beside him and asked with a slight smile on his face.
"Of course, you will be fine, respected sir."
The young squire placed his hand on his heart as he solemnly replied.
Nodding his head, Bernard left with Evan before giving the remaining gold coins to Lucas.
"Let's go."
Soon, Lucas and the young guide walked towards the Slave Market.
"My name is Shawn and I will be your guide."
While going to the Slave Market, the young man continuously spoke after Lucas gave permission to talk. He started from his introduction and explained everything that came across them.
"Respected young sir, this is the slave market."
Maybe it was because it is the most profitable business in the Silverstone town the Slave Market was quite close to the adventurer's guild and it only took them a 10-minute walk to reach there.
"In this Slave Market, there are only four shops that sell the top quality slaves. One shop belongs to the adventurer's guild and the remaining three shops belong to three top families of this town."
As they walked into the market, Lucas heard Shawn speak as he watched the cages on both sides that were filled with men, women, boys, girls.
Except for a few, almost all the slaves in the cages were continuously whipped who let out painful groans.
If it was any other young master's first visit, they would be scared and feel unwell at the sight of those actions; however, Lucas felt nothing as though he was used to it.
"Shawn, is this the young sir who bought Raindrop manor?"
Soon, they reached the biggest shop in the Slave market and of course, it was managed by the one and only adventurer's guild.
The moment they reached, an old man welcomed Lucas and Shawn before asking Shawn.
"Yes. Did you bring out the goods for the sir to choose?"
As though he was experienced with the process many times, Shawn asked the old man without wasting any time.
"Of course."
Nodding his head, the old man asked Lucas, "Young sir, please follow me."
Soon, he brought them to the inner room where there were three groups of people.
One group were old men wearing formal robes, the second group consisted of beautiful young women with stunning features who were wearing half gowns.
As for the third group, it was a mix of young, middle-aged and old knights with strength starting from tier 1 lesser knight to tier 5 lesser knight.
"Please pick how many you need, young sir."
The old man replied with a smile on his face.
"One butler cost 500 gold coins, one beautiful maid cost 300 gold coins and as for these lesser knights slaves, tier 1 cost 1000, tier 2 cost 2000, tier 3 cost 5000, tier 4 cost 8000 and a tier 5 lesser knight slave was 10000 gold coins."
Seeing that, Lucas was looking at Shawn, the old man explained the prices for three types of slaves in front of him.
"Hm"
Lucas maintained his calm look as he nodded his head before pointing at the young men from the third group and asked, "What about them? They are just squires, right?"
"These squires are just a bonus given to those who buy the lesser knights. For every lesser knight, you buy, you will get a young squire as a bonus."
The old man explained about the young squires standing in front of the lesser knights.
"What if I only want to buy the young squires? How much do they cost?"
After thinking for a moment, Lucas asked the old man.
'Huh?'
The old man was puzzled for a moment; however, after thinking for a second, he said, "If you want to buy them, I can give a squire for 50 coins."
"Young sir, don't buy them. These young squires didn't have the talent to become the lesser knights in their life. This old man is trying to squander your gold coins."
Before Lucas could say anything, Shawn hurriedly warned Lucas because he knew about the greediness of the old man.
"10 coins per squire."
How could Lucas not know about it? He revealed a slight smile on his face and stated a price that he felt was right.
"40 gold coins per squire."
However, The old man shook his head while decreasing the price by 10 gold coins per squire.
"I will buy all 10 squires at a price of 10 gold coins."
Lucas pointed at the young man and quoted his price once again.
"If you buy at least one tier 1 lesser knight, I will agree to the deal."
"Deal then."
Lucas didn't hesitate even a single bit before agreeing to the deal.
