Chapter 62 - Unfaithfulness
Our Biology teacher was going on about plant morphology while recalling the event that happened this morning. I could help but think about Kizhashi's weird behaviour.
She was normally a lot more outspoken and if it was arguments for fights, she is the one who takes the authority of that. She wasn't the leader of the girls in our class for nothing.
Still she led, three girls accused her, harassed her and then she didn't even protest or tried to get back at them? That's not like the Kizhashi I have seen till date. Yasurouka stood up for her, but she told her not to.
Could that mean she really was guilty of whatever she was being accused of? That's why she didn't let Yasurouka stand for her, and didn't protest. She was in the wrong, but then again I don't know anything so these are just my speculations speaking.
But what did Isobe mean when she said that they would get back to her? And why did Kizhashi react like that? I'm missing something. A link is missing and I have a gut feeling that this link will be quite important for me.
Biology class was over and before leaving our teacher was advising us to study seriously since our end semester was only two weeks away.
"Hey, I heard something happened this morning with Koi-san." Tsūmen asked me. He came after everything was over so he wasn't able to witness the peak drama.
Putting my pen back inside my pencil case, I replied, "Well, a lot happened but I didn't understand a tiny bit of that."
"Eh? Why is that?"
I turned towards him, "I don't know, it looked like there was some sort of misunderstanding between them."
"Misunderstanding… sounds interesting, I'll ask Gaisen-kun later."
"Oh, he wasn't present at that moment."
"Well Koi-san will tell him sooner or later, right? So we can know what actually happened." He said. Well, Kizhashi telling him and him telling us are two completely different things.
"Yeah" I nodded. I would lie if I said that I wasn't curious. But the fuel for my curiosity was something else. I looked at Tsūmen and he was staring at me with a smug face.
"What?"
"And if Gaisen doesn't tell us then you have your beloved Reina-san, she will tell you surely." He said, and emphasised on the latter part.
"You bastard"
"Ooof, telling the truth makes me a bastard? Meanie!" He laughed.
The next few periods went by as most of the teachers were focusing on revising instead of teaching new things. They were giving us questions to check our understanding of the things they taught us this semester.
Ms Tachibana told us that we can visit her anytime we want if we feel like we are facing trouble regarding her subject.
I waa solving a few chemistry questions as it was our chemistry period going on. I was stuck at a particular question so my eyes shifted from my notebook and wandered around in class. I caught sight of Yasurouka, and it seemed like she had no problems solving the questions.
I sighed, and again returned my focus to the question. It was lunchtime after this period, so I had plans to talk with her regarding the incident earlier.
The bell rang for lunchtime, and the teacher felt the class. I matched my answer with the answer key and my answer was correct. It gave me a different relief knowing that I could solve problems even without studying that much.
"Finally!" Tsūmen said and cracked his knuckles. He was relieved that the period was over. He stood and kept his notebook and textbook back inside his bag.
"Where are you going?" I asked.
"Just the next class, I have to talk to some friends." He said and while looking outside.
"Oh….kay." I said as I knew what he was going to do. He gave me an awkward smile and walked towards the door. The class next to us was the A class. And it was Kosaki's class. He was just going there to have a look at her. I watched his figure disappear around the corner.
I looked towards Yasurouka and it looked like they were discussing the incident with Gaisen, who was standing in front of their desk with a serious look on his face. Kizhashi suddenly stood up from her chair and said something to Yasurouka. She nodded with hesitation.
Kizhashi walked outside of the class with Gaisen. I walked up to her and called out her name. She looked at me, "Yeah, what?"
"Where did they go?" I asked, pointing towards the door with my eyes.
"Kizhashi said she wanted to spend some time with Gaisen so they went out." She said, but it seemed like she didn't like it.
"What actually happened though?" I asked.
She turned towards me and gestured to me to sit next to her. I looked at Kizhashi's chair and said, "No, that's her chair. I won't."
"Bruh, are you a kid?" She said in an annoyed tone because me and Kizhashi literally couldn't tolerate each other.
"I don't want any problems." I said in a plain tone.
"Ugh!" She stood up and held my hand. "Ok, let's take a walk too." Saying that she draggo me outside the class.
We were walking in the corridor which was filled with students, so I advised her to head for the bridge between the administration building and our building since it was a peaceful area and we could get a view of the playground from there.
"So you see, we went to a karaoke place last weekend." She said that it makes sense why Nishimiya asked if they were talking about last weekend or not.
I nodded and she continued, "So like Uyeno-san thought that Koi-san was flirting with her boyfriend."
"Why?"
"They were alone and Koi was getting too touchy with him. This is what I heard from Isobe-san but I don't trust that bitch a bit."
"Why don't you ask Kizhashi-san about this then?" I suggested some common sense.
"She just won't give me a straight answer. I'm in a dilemma if Isobe was actually right about her." She said in a low tone. It was almost like she was hurt from inside.
"But I feel bad because that just means that I don't trust my best friend." She added.
"But what if she really was flirting with him? Wouldn't that be her cheating on Gai-kun?" I'll feel bad for him because he is getting played by her." She kept saying whatever was coming to her mind at that point.
"Would you calm down for a bit?"
"How can I calm down knowing that Gai-kun is being cheated on?"
"You said you aren't sure about that. Don't accuse your friend like that." As I said this, her face again sunk down as the burden of her accusing her own friend fell upon her.
"I...know… I just don't...know what to do." She said looking outside. Seems like her guilt couldn't let her make eye contact with me.
