Soul for a Girlfriend?

Chapter 252 The Person whom Rumours couldn't Affect

252  The Person whom Rumours couldn't Affect

"To be honest, by his reaction, it seemed like he had no idea about that." I said as we're finally closing in towards residential areas. The streets were rather empty and silent.

I was recalling the events of that day. And judging by the body language of that guy, he wasn't lying. He indeed did not know about the paper.

"For real? I'm pretty suspicious of him. But I didn't confront him since it would just end up escalating the situation." He said as we're walking past a vending machine whose light was flickering.

"Yes, I think." I replied in a casual tone while talking a can of choccy milk for myself from the machine. I turned towards him but he wasn't interested in drinking anything, so we continued our walk.

"Well, I think it's one of her ex-boyfriends." Shig said, while I opened the can and started drinking from it. With a sarcastic tone, I said, "You're her ex-boyfriend."

"Bruh."

I understood where he was coming from at that moment. Recalling the contents of the paper, it seemed like it was written by someone who knew her insecurities very well.

Also, considering pulling something like off against someone was already a gut wrenching thing. Only someone close enough to her can have the audacity to do something like this to her

When I heard the words "an easy girl", it made me think of Shig for an instance since I remember him calling her that when they were breaking up. But it couldn't have been Shig, nor any of her ex-boyfriends.

This conversation was rather pointless since it was me.

I was the one who made that paper and decided to announce it in front of her entire class.

"Well, everything is fine, so it's all good." He said with an awkward laugh. It seemed like he was slowly becoming a bit comfortable around me. I nodded and replied, "Yeah, it doesn't matter who did it."

I did this whole drama to pull something off. I did something like this with Saki too. And I'm again doing this with Shiraishi. Girls like her are easy to exploit and manipulate. Since she was way too wild, it was necessary to take her using force.

"I'm just glad that you stood up for her dude." I said, but he was quick to deny. Shaking his head from left to right, he clenched his jaws and said, "I didn't… he just pissed me off."

He definitely cared for her.

"See… it's alright. You respect her as an individual, and…" I continued to keep hitting his morals indirectly, but he just gave me a shrug, "Yep, it's aight."

He wasn't looking forward to continuing that conversation. I thought little about it, since this conversation was truly useless.

But I had some other motives.

"By the way, do people always bully Shiraishi like that?" I asked while sipping my chocy milk casually. He looked at me with a confused look on his face and asked, "Umm… like what?"

It wasn't like he didn't hear me the first time. But he was trying to confirm if he heard me correctly or not. I gave him a nod and specified, "You know, making comments about her character and all?" "Are you uncomfortable dating a girl with that image?" He asked me instantly, to which I replied in a calm tone, "If I was then I wouldn't have come to your class that day."

"You're a better person than me, Saishi." With a husky chuckle he looked towards me but I just nodded my head and replied, "I think otherwise."

How could I be a better person?

I deliberately tried to break Shiraishi down, so that I could slowly creep into her broken mind and join it with my own two hands.

Why did I do all this?

"Nah fam, you are definitely more reliable." Shig said while swaying his palm, as I narrowed my eyes at him, "That's quite a statement considering you don't know me."

"Nah, but I heard from Moriko how you helped her."

"Oh… she told you?" I was a bit surprised since she was quite adamant about not telling what happened to anyone.

"I feel very immature for the way I acted that day." He said with a hint of guilt in his voice. I didn't interrupt him as he continued, "I just said whatever came to my mouth… and I think I should've been a bit considerate of her."

He was still thinking about her even though she was one at fault in that situation.

And he called me a nice person.

Shiraishi wasn't loyal to anyone, even if she was in a relationship with them. So I had to think of a way to make her attached to me, not only under the title of our relationship, but rather an interdependence need.

She was used to being treated the way she had been telling me. And from the first day we met, she has always been in awe of the fact that I didn't care about her image, nor the rumours.

I was someone who was accepting her for what she was.

For whatever reason, it was that she adapted to a submissive way to handle this situation rather than actively standing up against it. I did all this to check the extent of the rumours she was talking about.

But it appeared like not many people teased her about it, as she described it to me.

I was slowly starting to get discrepancies in her words.

Though my plan was to check how much she was being affected by those rumours. And the next part of my plan was to deliberately have a fight with her and minimise my interactions with her as much as I can.

Why?

"Aight, see you then." Shig waved at me as he turned towards his street and I kept walking towards my apartment.

Igniting a bit of chaos, then pressing the entire blame of what was happening on her. And finally leaving her alone. She would slowly develop an unconscious need for validation, but there won't be anyone to fulfil it.

Who would she turn towards then?

The person who was never affected by any of those damn rumours.

Me.

And so far, everything was going according to my plan. I was hoping for the best.
