Chapter 66
Inside the bathroom of the studio.
A handful of clear water was scooped up between two palms and wavered between them. The way that it reflected the ceiling light was distracting.
Gu Nian, bending over the sink, was dazed.
[Where is it that you want to grope, Miss…?]
The line was still resounding in her head.
Gu Nian frowned a little, baffled.
Was it her imagination that the word that was slurred purposefully sounded a lot like "Gu"?
The more she thought about it, the more it sounded like it to her.
And, if it wasn't her imagination, why would Luo Xiu, who seemed to be very much into his role at the time, be so out of it that he used her real name?
It was almost like he wasn't talking to Ding Qiao at the time, but to her…
"Hey, Gu Nian, why are you zoning out over there?"
"---"
Some worker from the production team smiled and asked.
Gu Nian splashed the half-drained water in her hand onto her face and rinsed off the last of the lather from the makeup remover. She wiped off the water droplets, stood up straight, and said in her languid voice, "I just remembered something and it distracted me."
"You must be tired tonight. That Director Geng and his temper. When he blows up, he didn't care who it is."
"It wasn't too bad."
"Eh? You removed all of the makeup?"
The one talking to her was the little makeup artist who was responsible for Gu Nian's Ding Qiao's makeup.
She had already walked up to the sink next to Gu Nian as she spoke. Looking at the girl's reflection in the mirror who was just now wiping off the water on her face with a paper towel, she felt both helpless and amused. "You've had it all, don't you? You are so pretty that you can leave your house with no makeup on."
Gu Nian curved her lips a little and even her smile was languid. "That's not true. I just dislike the smell of chemicals on my face was all."
"Me neither. But I still need to have makeup on so I can look prettier. Surely, I ain't doing it for the fun of it." The little makeup artist sighed. "It's so nice to be pretty. You can save a lot of money just from cosmetics alone. Even when you come to work everyday with no makeup on, you still have no shortage of suitors. He is even waiting outside of the bathroom."
"……?"
The more Gu Nian thought about it, the odder that sounded. She turned around and asked, alarmed, "Suitors? Whose?"
"Let's just say he's waiting outside the door and there's just the two of us in here. Who do you think?"
Gu Nian, "… …"
Gu Nian turned around with a headache.
She had always had delicate features and looked docile. She was smart too and always had good grades. On top of that, she wasn't a high and mighty goddess that was difficult to approach and has had many professing their love to her all the time.
And it was also the situation that she hated the most.
Even her languidness couldn't conceal her distress. The little makeup artist noticed it and busted out laughing. "What's up with you? Others are happy when they have suitors; why do you look like you have run into your debt-collectors?"
Gu Nian ran her fingers through her hair and grumbled expressionlessly, "They might as well be debt-collectors."
"AHAHAHA, alright, go face your debt-collector then."
"Em…" Looking dispirited, Gu Nian looked around. "Is there a back door, a back window, or something here?"
The little makeup artist laughed harder. "Forced to look for a window in the bathroom in order to avoid your suitor… that must be a first."
"… …"
Gu Nian couldn't find any back door or window so she had no choice but to go out the only door.
When she was about to reached the bathroom door, she had an idea. She quickly pulled out her cellphone and dialed a number.
The call was connected in 2~3 seconds.
"Eh? Why are you calling me at this hou-- --"
BAP!
Gu Nian abruptly hung up on the phone and started walking out of the bathroom.
Sure enough, there was a familiar looking male worker from the production team waiting in the hallway outside of the bathroom.
He looked around, spotted Gu Nian, and started walking toward her in high spirit.
"Hi, Gu Nian, I am-- --"
Three. Two. One.
After her countdown, her cellphone rang in her pocket at the perfect time.
