Chapter 183
Luo Xiu said in a serious tone, "That's not something that you should feel sorry for. It has nothing to do with you."
"But……"
"Besides, not even Mengzhi herself needed to apologize."
Gu Nian paused and looked up.
The sun was struggling outside the window and rays of lights were coming through the cloud.
The voice next to her ear was low and tender. "All she did was say what was right, did what was right. I think she had to overcome a lot of obstacles and fears before she was able to make this decision. As such, she does not owe anyone an apology."
Standing next to the window, Gu Nian looked at the pitiful little sun. It was still struggling, trying to breakthrough something.
She asked lightly, "Is that true?"
"Yes. I have a lot of respect for her."
"……"
After a silence over the phone, Gu Nian suddenly recollected herself. She lowered her head, rubbed her eyes that were now sore from being in the sun for too long and broke into a smile. "I called to comfort you. How did it turn into you comforting me?"
Luo Xiu smiled as well, "I am fine. You don't need to worry about me."
Gu Nian nodded, paused, then asked again with a guilty conscience, "But, do you know Mengzhi very well? It seemed like you are quite supportive of her."
"Mmm."
The pitiful little sun struggled free from the grey cloud and the warm rays came pouring down.
Under the same sky, Luo Xiu leaned against the door frame at the Qiao's mansion. He lowered his head and looked at the pond with a ring of stones around its edges. The smile in his eyes was even more tender than the water in the afternoon.
Gu Nian, stunned, blurted out, "What a coincidence! I am also your f---"
Luo Xiu chuckled in a deep voice. "What?"
Gu Nian was taken aback.
A few seconds later, she lowered her head with tears in her eyes and said, against her own will, "What I meant to say was, I am a fan of hers as well. I, I will be supportive of her forever with you."
Luo Xiu lowered his eyes and smiled, "Okay."
"……"
They ended their conversation a few minutes later.
Luo Xiu stood back up from the door frame, turned, and walked back inside of the house. When he looked up, he was immediately met with two gossipy-looking faces along with other complicated emotions.
Luo Xiu reined in his smile. "What is it?"
An Yi, holding onto the sleeves of his Taoist robe, leaned against the wall and lifted his brows at Luo Xiu. "Who was it? The female demon from the mountains?"
Luo Xiu responded him with a light and nonchalant chuckle. "Scram."
An Yi turned his head and feigned a dramatic surprise look. "Did you hear that, Qiao Xi? Our Buddha-like Young Master Luo had learned to cuss. This was a first in my entire life!"
"No, wait ……"
Qiao Xi had an odd look on him. He was looking at Luo Xiu's phone with a look that suggest a toothache. He looked from the phone to Luo Xiu ––
"What's the name of the female demon who had stolen your soul??"
Qiao Xi looked at Luo Xiu expressionlessly.
Perhaps his look was too vicious. To a point that even the young girl who was standing next to the wooden table in the middle pouring them tea, her hand was shaking.
A few drops of tea splattered outside of the cup and the girl panicked even more. She put down the purple clay pot that she had been holding with a towel underneath it and quickly lowered her head and apologized to Qiao Xi. "I'm so sorry, Second Young Master. I'm sorry. I'm sorry….."
She was obviously a new hire. She was even panicky when she was apologizing. Her face was pale.
An Yi said mildly to her. "It's fine. Just leave the tea top. I'll serve these two young masters. You can go."
The young girl, upon hearing that, looked over at Qiao Xi next to her and, seeing that he did not say anything, bowed and left quickly.
After the girl had closed the door of the room, An Yi, too, turned around, rested his head on his palm and smiled, "Look at you two. See how scare the girl was because of you?"
