Sol Vestitor: New Age of God

Chapter 91: Profit and Casuality

Chapter 91: Profit and Casuality

Sol did not let his guard down as he did not feel any gain from his latest kill, normally when he killed a creature, no matter how weak they were, he would feel an increase of power as he killed them but he felt nothing after the spear connect and the ant stop moving.

"It's trying to fake its dead?" Sol wondered as he conjured another spear and threw it at the ant's head location.

He could sense the spear connect but the ant queen did not move at all as the ant queen was truly died from the last spear.

Sol decided that the ant might just be something special so he could not absorb any divinity from it and looked at the other demigod which was on her last leg.

Wondering whether he should interrogate her first, Sol about to command the clone to stop but before he could do so, the Demigod's battered body was turned ice cold and disintegrate into a pile of ashes.

This time he could feel the familiar sense when he killed a creature, he could sense part of its divinity got absorbed by his divinity core but the division was uneven, the knife aura gain the most while sun ice only got a fraction of it, on the other hand, healing dome barely gain anything.

But what made Sol frown was the amount of gain he got, he could feel he only gain a small part compared to what a demigod was supposed to give, most of it went to the knife armament.

Before this, the knife also got a portion of the shard that Sol got, it even took more than what other armament took from their owner, but now it did not just take a part of his shard, it took almost ninety percent of it which Sol could use bring both healing dome and knife aura to a proper lesser demigod level.

"Fuck! That knife grew even greedier!" Sol cursed with wide eyes, he even suspects that it increased its power to kill the firebird faster so he could not stop it in time.

Seeing that he could do nothing to get back what was supposed to be his, Sol finally let it go with a heavy heart.

Sol quickly got back to the temples, he left an ice crystal behind to mark the dead ant queen so he could check it later.

The clone was dismissed as he could not sustain it any longer and he did not need its help anymore, it's better for him to recover his power.

Sol was curious if the clone could grow smart enough to function as a human the longer it survive or would it retain its intelligence when he resummoned it, but he had no time to investigate as he needs to make sure the city was safe.

What he found there halt his step, "Another demigod?!" Sol was shocked to found out there was another demigod in the city, but after a few seconds, he found the presence to be familiar to him.

When he reaches the temple, Nerodia was standing there waiting for him, "What took you so long?" She asked then quickly pulled at his and bite on his wrist, drinking his blood.

It was so fast that he would be dry within seconds if he was not a demigod as well, Sol regeneration was fast enough to make it impossible for him to die from blood loss.

"I was fighting two Demigod! It was already good that I could survive!" Sol rant at her.

"Didn't you have help?" She points out.

"You saw me fighting?" Sol asked her in shock, "wait, your memory is back?" he just realized.

"Tsk, you are slow aren't you? And no, I did not see you but I could observe your fight with another mean," She explained.

It gave Sol a relief as he had shown a lot of his card in the fight as he tough no one was there, he would rather keep it a secret as it could save him a lot of trouble.

"Then why did not you help me when they were ganking on me?" he pointed out to keep her from asking who helped him.

"I was busy saving your family and this city you know?" She said then explained what happened when he was away.

Sol was sullen hearing what happened, even though it was out of his hand, he was also responsible because he had promised to keep everyone safe.

He was too short-sighted, his recent advancement had blind him, he did not even think about the possibility of betrayal and another ant attack from the city.

"Nerodia, thank you, if it was not for you then I would lose everyone" Sol thank the blue-haired girl.

Nerodia did not reply and just leave him behind, she had not expected him to thank her and she did not know what to do.

Sol shook his head at the girl's reaction, he did not bother with it and get inside to find the other.

After talking a bit with Miya and Nerva who were accompanying Sasha's parents, Sol went to meet Jean near the Temple of Minerva.

When he got to the room, the priestess already waiting for him there, she was alone which made Sol asked, "You are alone?"

Her face turned darker as she replied, "Jacob is unavailable at the moment."

Sol felt bitter as he could predict the worst-case scenario that the younger man might be dead or fatally injured in the last clash before Nerodia butt in.

"Is he alive?" Sol asked as he might be able to do something about it, Jean only nodded a bit at him and asked, "any other thing you want to ask me?"

"Yes, I haven't seen Moon, Blacky, and Tanya, are they ok?" He asked.

"They are fine, both Blacky and Moon was resting in the barrack but both of them are fine, their healing ability is really something, as for Tanya, she is there too to keep the company," she answered.

It gave Sol relief, even though Nerodia said that they were fine, having others confirm it did not hurt.

Sol turned serious and asked, "what about the others? How many casualties?"

"We lost almost a hundred and fifteen heirs, the surviving one also severely injured but with their body at it is, they would recover given time," he replied seriously as well.

"Hundred and fifteen!" Sol was shocked by the revelation as those numbers were almost as much as every heir in his city, which was an enormous number.

"Mr. Sol, it was not your fault, without you and your people then we would never survive against the ant or the Temple of Gaea machination" She tried to comfort him.

Sol suspects that if he was not there then the temple of Gaea would not go all out and kill so many people, they would just kill some people from time to time in the guise of invasion.

"what done is done," Sol said to himself and shook his head to clear his mind.

"Is there anything I can help with?" Sol asked the priestess in case she needs his help but was too shy to ask.

"So far we could do everything ourselves, but how about the firebird demigod?" She asked as the city was afraid that the Demigod would come back.

"It's ok, I killed it already, it attacked me when I was fighting the ant queen so I kill her as well," he reassured her.

Jean let out a sigh of relief, "Then we could handle ourselves, even though the city lost a lot of combat heir, we still have other heirs, we can save this city somehow as long as we don't fight against another heir army," She said.

"Fine, take this." Sol gave a vial of Moon's blood to the girl, "Let Jacob drink this, he should recover sooner after drinking that," he explained.

The girl nodded and said thank you before Sol left the room, she was thankful for his concern for her brother.

Sol visited Moon and Tanya in the barrack, Moon was laying in a bed while sleeping as she was tired from all the fighting, she might be able to heal her body but it also cost her something such as energy.

Tanya was patting the sleeping Blacky when he came in the room, she looked at him and greet him with a nod but did not say a word as she didn't want to wake the sleeping canines.

Sol nodded back and leave after checking both canines' condition, he would visit them again after they got enough rest to thank them.

He walked out of the tent in search of the first person he had met when he gets back to the temple, Sol was looking for Nerodia to ask her for a favor.

It did not take him long to find her as she never hides her presence which basically broadcasting her location.

"What do you need from me?" She asked coldly.
