Chapter 394: Chapter XIV: Annoyed Scholars And Annoying Scorches

(General POV, after Reyvin's meeting with the rebels)

Alor let out a mildly irritated "Tsk" as another spurt of goblin blood dirtied his robes, his right hand twitching rhythmically as he finished healing a young soldier from Bruma. He ignored the profuse tanks of the lad who nearly had his neck opened by a stray arrow covered in feces, that would have no doubt led to an infection without proper healing, and returned to the only thing that interested him in this sun forsaken cave.

'Goblin skin appears to be somewhat tougher than that of the civilized races, though not surpassing that of the Orsimer, the shared patron theory seems to hold merit at least' He scribbled down, his eyes tracking a certain ebony clad warrior as he cut through a dozen of them in mere moments, seeing one of the little bastards manage to push the man back with a kick to his shield he continued 'The goblins of Cyrodiil also appear to possess more strength than their physicality may indicate, though it does not surpa-'

Eye twitching in annoyance, the Falmer held back a flinch as an arrow scraped the edge of his helmet, huffing in irritation he slammed his collected notes shut and stood up from the rock he was seated at, his silver spear glowing golden as he unleashed a large fireball at the small group of archers that had just entered his section of the caves.

"Come on then." He spoke softly as his two guards began following him "I am no longer in the mood for research."

But before he could follow after Muntazir and his band, who had just used the opening given by his fireball to charge further, he felt the orb hanging off his belt pulse with magic, a rather familiar magic at that.

Signaling for his guards to wait he channeled his own Magicka within the ingenious tool.

[Big D: Alor, Minthara is not responding to my message and it is pretty urgent. Things in the city have escalated faster than originally expected, I need you to tell her to finish the extermination as fast as possible and make a beeline to Leyawiin, an uprising is set to happen just before evening today. The gates will be opened for you and if not you are to storm the city and apprehend Marius Caro, I will not be able to provide support as something more important has come up.]

[A-lore: Your will be done, my lord.]

Alor answered immediately and the connection was cut.

As he began barking orders to his group and started jogging after Muntazir's, Alor couldn't help but muse on the naming traditions his lord had come up with for the OrbTM. He had said that it was to keep them all grounded and stop them from thinking themselves too highly with all the power they wielded, a fair idea if there ever was one.

Something told him he did it just because he found it funny though.

Shaking his idle thoughts away, he began gathering another fireball in preparation as they stormed into the next chamber, a whole unit of shielded goblins going up in flames before they could flank his overextended allies.

'Sun damned meatheads...'

Minthara was having the time of her life as she squished goblin after goblin under her hammer, the weapon which once slew a god being used as no more than a stick to squish bugs for her entertainment.

The action was not without purpose, as the legionaries and Bruman soldiers looked at her with ever increasing respect, the Legate whose cohort was volunteered and Count Roland attempting to gain some glory by throwing themselves into more and more dangerous situations.

It was almost cute, if grown men flailing their weapons in increasingly complex flourishes and competing on who could make the most impressive looking kill while looking like complete idiots to the practiced eye could ever be called such.

Naturally her fun had to be ruined as a moonstone plate-clad Alor jogged up to her, the snow elf leaning on his still glowing spear as he huffed lightly in exertion "Pardon the interruption my lady" He bowed as his guard jammed a halberd into the nearest goblin who thought to use the distraction to ambush them "But there are news from Leyawiin, you may wish to check on your orb."

And so she did, her annoyance growing momentarily before she accepted that goblins would have grown boring quickly enough. She quickly scanned Reyvin's request and told Alor to recount his own version of the message before coming to a swift decision.

She looked up to an outcropping where Marco was dueling the goblins' chief shaman, blasting the creature with lightning as it retaliated with some kind of poison mist he was forced to dispell with summoned winds.

Minthara's lip twitched upwards as she hissed "Sos."

The goblin exploded as all her blood was forced out of her body in an instant, covering both Marco and Lydia, who was trying to assist him by keeping any other goblins from interrupting, from head to toe in blood and gore. The remaining creatures began to panic and were soon being slaughtered at a visible rate.

It was a fun distraction while it lasted she supposed.

(The Radiant, The Resplendent, The Illuminating, The Allmighty Scorch's POV)

"Run n'wah run!" My imperious voice resounded from atop the wannabe noble's head "I know you featherless degenerates are not blessed with the resplendence that is a pair a wings but this is just disappointing!"

"Will you shut your damn beak, bird?!" The cat hisses at my glorious self, probably trying to sound intimidating "Ma'zaro is sick and tired of your petty barbs!"

"The bird is right." The retired guard captain Gravus scoffs as he directs a glare at the wannabe nobleman "Your fat ass is slowing us down, our opening to free the Legates' families will close soon enough."

"Fighting is not my job and neither is hard labor." Janus scoffs while breathing heavily "I did my part by contacting the Legates and having them organize what meager forces they still have, now it is your turn Gravus."

The guardsman just scoffs again, most of his subordinates sharing in his irritation.

"Ma'zaro finds it suspicious that all of the families are housed in one place." The cat states softly as the landlubbers slow down and our destination comes into view "And not within the keep itself at that, Khajiit smells a trap."

"Don't worry your little furry head about it." I chirp condescendingly "That n'wah Marius didn't exactly expect pops and my glorious self to show up to ruin his day by saving your sweaty asses. No one else in the city has enough force to free them and he already sent someone to off you."

"And you know this how?" The cat gives me a look filled with doubt.

I look down on him both literally and metaphorically "You n'wahs never look up." Seriously, scouting the place and listening in on the dumbass commanding the jailors was child's play.

The cat scoffs "Whatever."

That is what I thought you furry little farm tool.

"Hold." Gravus speaks up as we near the large fortified manor "A step further and we risk

being found out."

"Should we offer them surrender?" Janus speaks up "We are here to liberate the city, not

slaughter everyone."

The retired captain shakes his head "No, these are some of Marius' most loyal soldiers, he wouldn't leave the easily bribed ones from the docks to guard something as important as hostages, even if they are not meant to be under any risk of breakout."

"The leader is also on Thalmor payroll." I chirp in helpfully.

The three dozen or so collected riffraff trailing behind us suddenly turn just that much more ready to kill everything they see.

"Their instincts are pretty good at least." Gravus comments as one of the two guards leaning near the iron gate starts looking around habitually "Best we attack now while they are relaxedNôv(el)B\\jnn

unless we want to get bogged down and slaughtered."

"It will take them approximately a minute to reach good positions for bows and crossbows." I inform as was my job "I will kill any dumbass who gets there faster but I'd still recommend a reckless charge to cut as many down as possible before they get their featherless backsides

together."

The old guard chuckles dryly "Well you heard the bird boys and girls, let's go liberate us a

city!"

His little exclamation does well in inspiring his followers but also alerts the two guards at the gate as they begin looking for the source of the noise.

Faster than even I care to notice, the cat rushes out in front of us and blitzes next to the duo of

dumbasses, his scimitar flashing out in a wide arc and decapitating the first man while his right foot flies into the other's chest, slamming him into the stone pillar behind him. By the time the guard could right himself the scimitar had already split his head. Gravus' men waste no time in charging after him, the sound of fighting accompanied by a panicked noise of the increasingly outnumbered loyalists of Marius soon reaching my ears as jumped off the wannabe's head, the little shit slowly trailing behind the battle and clutching one of those precharged staves he no doubt smuggled in from somewhere.

Not like it is my problem these idiots are incapable of summoning even a piddly little firebolt

on their own effort.

Oh well, that is enough of that. Here I go killing again!

The first dumbass with enough brain power to grab a crossbow instead of rushing to the moshpit rushes up to one of the wooden balconies overlooking the walled-off yard of the fortified manor, immediately loading the steel limbed weapon and aiming for the cat, who was cutting through his buddies with admittedly impressive speed for a farm tool.

He didn't even get the time to raise his crossbow before I delivered my mighty caw upon the poor fuck and set him on fire, his screams too forgettable after so many that came before. This repeated itself a few more times, the dumbasses lacking the pattern recognition necessary to understand that stepping onto the balcony resulted in imminent immolation. I was so utterly bored by them that I didn't even bother nomming on their eyes! They probably tasted worse than the Squidward wannabe's servants at this rate. The battle in the yard ended quickly after the fifth dumbass I transformed from well done to congratulations, all of the attackers, even that cuck in the making Janus, rushing into the building itself where sounds of battle rang out once again.

Seeing as no more fun was coming my way I decided to follow suit, slinking into the building from above and promptly descending into anyone smart enough not to join the melee, yet unlucky enough to be noticed by yours truly.

It wasn't long before I found the leader of these dumbasses, the fat n'wah quivering in fear as

he stood in front of the fortified doors leading into the jail cells. Stuttering like the coward he was he turned to one of his subordinates "G-gather some oil b-barrells" He pointed at a nearby storage room "L-let's-ss see how they 1-like their c-chances when we threaten their p-p-precious hostages!"

That the idiot listening to him looked impressed really killed my mood.

In the blink of an eye the dumbass trying to unlock the storage room was without a head and

the leader's eye was in my beak.

Hmmm, quite a nice earthy taste admittedly.

I think I will have another.

"What are you doing?" The disgusted voice of Gravus reaches from behind me.

Instead of answering I rotate my head a full 180 degrees and pop the other eye into my beak,

crushing it in an instant "You have some wonderful peepers there old man, care to share?"

He hides his growing terror with respectable skill "I'd rather not." He states calmly "That the

fat fuck? Is that Alexios?"

"Was." I smirk as much as my beak allows "Prisoners are behind the door, idiot wanted to threaten you with blowing them up."

He blinks and looks down at the eyeless corpse with its throat slit "Good riddance then." "Secure the building." I command him "I will snoop around a bit."

The man just shrugs as a few of his men join him accompanied by the cat and the wannabe and

they all start breaking through the door.

Slinking around the hallways in search for shinies, my fun is interrupted by terrified screams

of the feminine variety and malicious chuckles of the other 'Inspire good thoughts, this does

not.'

Just as I am about to fuck off elsewhere I hear the noise of clothes ripping and my mood thoroughly darkens. I flap my wings and zoom through the building, nearly ramming into a couple of the rebels who were more interested in looting the manor instead of doing their jobs and I swiftly reach a far off room, the noise growing with each moment.

It takes me a split second to realize what is going on as I see one of the rebels leaning atop a

distinctly disrobed loyalist, the man's intentions and the woman's terror quite clear to see to anyone with more than a singular braincell.

I relished in hitting his groin and backside with a firebolt, the pain of it making him roll to the

side and scream until it straight up knocked him out, the fires still burning as he twitched violently.

The mostly naked woman just stares at me with wide eyes 'Maybe I should take one as a rewa-

no!'

"What are you gawking at n'wah? Get thee hence!" I scoff at the confused woman "I'd say that

was punishment enough for your choice in loyalty so get your featherless ass moving before I change my mind."

She stares at me for a while longer before her degenerate little brain finally catches up and she rushes off to hide under some hole probably.

'Not my problem anyway.' I shrug my wings and make sure to incinerate the little bastard

fully 'Pops did tell me never to show mercy to shit like this.'

Fucking n'wahs, so uncivilized. Suddenly I felt a pulse of divine power and a slight tremor shook the entire city.

Well, at least pops was having fun.

(General POV)

Alor was quite content in the knowledge that their march was as rapid as their victory, as the

city of Leyawiin came into their sights just as the sun began to set, their band of warriors and

soldiers disguised as a large troupe of merchants with their supply carts serving to complete the deception.

But as they reached the gates they found them barred and shut, the guards atop the towers staring at them apprehensively and with their eyes open 'Something must have happened within the city.' Alor concluded 'We may need to change our plans.'

Minthara too came to a similar conclusion, though her decision came much faster than the

Falmer could ever manage 'He did say to break in if things didn't go as he planned, right?' She grinned and slowly gripped her hammer.
