Chapter 188: 188. Stolen Skills
A small pebble the size of half a human nail shone with black and white lights between Jake's fingers. He could feel the violent mana compressed inside this small crystal.
A little bit of mana in the wrong direction and it would go boom. Though this chaotic mana crystal wouldn't kill the two 4th Circle beings inside this experiment chamber, it would seriously hurt them.
"It's best to keep those three crystals in a safe container, master,'' the dungeon fairy suggested.
Jake nodded and put the high tier chaotic mana crystals inside the red case made out of specially enchanted Sealing Wood.
Sren flew around his lab and regrettably spoke, ''I had bought about 11 of those in an auction. These are sought out by potion makers and artificers like me to make extremely powerful one-use bombs.''
''Unfortunately, I have already used 8 of these.''
He then stopped for a moment and continued. ''I don't know when they'll appear again, but there is a high chance I might find them on the last floor, like you'd said.''
Jake licked the insides of his left cheek, thinking. He already had 3 crystals. There were 2 more in the system's shop, he would buy them of course. That made five. Now he just needed four more… Would this dungeon fairy find that much?
Jake was unsure. He tapped a random table lying beside him and asked Sren, ''Tell me where to find the dragon body parts.''
…
Two days later.
''Haaa! Take this!'' Fiona kicked an insectoid monster who was extremely fast. It appeared to be using some kind of skill to dodge her attacks.
Even as a 4th Circle being, Fiona was having trouble pinning it. However, when she used sonic cry, this 3rd Circle Killer Wasp was immediately down.
''Daddy, I finally caught it!'' The overly enthusiastic homunculus grabbed the head of the poor wasp which was paralyzed by her earlier attack.
Jake was on the 37th floor with Fiona. He had stolen a few interesting skills such as [Ice Field], [Summon Undead], [Death Slash], and [Reflect Magic].
The last one had come from a beholder that was nearly 4th Circle. That was its strongest skill.
The wasp's cries took Jake's attention and he used [Demon Eye] on it to examine its skills.
''Hoh, that's quite nice…'' He smiled, walking toward Fiona who was holding the monster.
[Skill Steal]
Jake dashed forward and touched the Killer Wasp. In his mind, he thought about stealing the one specific skill which interested him.
[Ding! Congratulations, you have stolen the skill {Shadow Motion} from a 3rd Circle creature, Killer Wasp!]
[Ding! You have committed a greedy sin. You gain 6,704 Evil Points!]
''Throw it away, Fiona.'' He laughed. ''Or you might kill it.''
''Did you also copy its power, daddy?'' She jerked the struggling wasp, and it weakly moved its transparent wings, trying to run away.
Jake didn't answer her and instead tried learning his new skill.
Whoosh!
Shadow Motion allowed him to move in a phantasmal way. He became long lines of blurry shadows moving around Fiona who looked impressed.
After a few tries, Jake got the hang of it. With his high agility which was over 400, Fiona couldn't even see his afterimages.
If he went a little faster, he would break the sound barrier, creating shockwaves. Jake could already do that without using this skill. The technique of Shadow Motion was much better during fights.
As he stood beside Fiona, the winds he brought blew her skirt and hair.
''Good.'' He commented, clenching his hands and tapping his foot.
''Should I find other monsters, daddy? I remember there was a minotaur which had a really powerful halberd skill…'' Fiona poked her chin.
She had realized that Jake could instantly copy skills from any monster. Of course, that was incorrect as he wasn't 'copying' but straight up stealing these skills.
''No, this is enough for now,'' Jake said.
Learning a lot of skills would instead backfire. He couldn't infinitely learn new skills, of course. They were limited by his intelligence stat. At his current Int of 407, he could have about 25 skills in total.
If that wasn't so, Jake could just steal any random skill from low-level monsters and keep farming Evil Points that would come from committing greedy sins.
That was impossible, of course and highly impractical.
His priority right now was to master all his skills to their max level, instead of learning more and more. Then he could again merge them into better skills!
'Also, I will definitely get more abilities after I awaken my Demonic Dragon bloodline. They would boost my combat power to the peak of 4th Circle,' Jake thought. He just needed to complete the ritual.
About the materials for the awakening ritual, Sren had given him info on where to find those dragon bones, blood, flesh and other things.
Apparently, the most influential noble family of Ardin had the scales and bones as their family heirloom. It was quite a pleasant surprise.
'Looks like it's time to visit Cheshire city…'
Jake suddenly held Fiona's waist and began chanting. She excitedly held his arm, pressing it between her boobs.
With a snap of his fingers, a dark purple teleportation circle appeared beneath them and they both disappeared.
…
A day later, Jake and Fiona walked out of Tartus Dungeon's main entrance.
It was daytime and adventurers were pouring in and out of the venue. The large quake from more than a month ago was already forgotten, though people looked more prudent while entering.
Jake was in his usual human form, hiding his wings, tails and horns. Fiona looked completely human after hiding her translucent black wings.
She was wearing dark clothes just like Jake, sticking close to him while looking around curiously.
''Have you been outside Tartus?'' He asked her.
Fiona felt a prickle on her skin as the sunlight fell on her body. She shook her head and held Jake's hand more tightly.
''Well, this is it, the outside world and we're going to have some fun here.'' Jake smiled at her, and walked toward the bridge leading to the other side of Waun river.
As he saw the town up ahead, Jake suddenly remembered a certain slave girl.
'006…' He clicked his tongue. 'I had totally forgotten about her.'
