Volume 10, Prologue
Volume 10, Prologue
The boy had nothing.
He had no power to help anyone, to protect anyone, to save anyone.
He could not ask for it, he could not want it, he could not beg for it, he was like a child, but he could not obtain it.
There was no choice but to be shocked and accept the fact that he was an ordinary person.
He could do nothing but watch their backs, biting his lips in frustration.
But then――,
“Boy. Don’t you want power?”
What will people do when the power they crave appears before them?
Sweet, sweet, temptation―a realm that should never be entered.
Above all, what was offered to the boy was not the blessing of the white goddess but the desire of the black devil.
Just by looking at the other’s face, he could tell what they were thinking.
“You want to catch up with them, don’t you? You want power like theirs, don’t you?”
The hesitation creates a gap―the black feeling inside the boy grows bigger.
“Power that makes everyone prostrate themselves, the power that makes everyone bow their heads, power that makes everyone bend their knees.”
The boy, an ordinary human, had no way to resist, he had no power to resist, and he had no will to get rid of it.
No―perhaps he had no choice to refuse in the first place.
The very fact that what he wanted was right in front of his eyes was enough to make his fingers move.
His rational mind was pleading denial. Yet his body affirmed it, and his heart trembled with delight.
An unbearable moan escaped from the back of his throat.
The boy rushed to cover his mouth, but the figure in front of him smiled, not missing a beat.
“What is there to hide? Originally―that’s what a “human race” is all about, isn’t it?”
The man was extraordinarily kind, his eyes never smiling, but his mouth arched.
“Be faithful to your desires, let go of your aspirations, and follow your ambitions. Seize everything with overwhelming force. Accept the truth of the world. The weak will bow down, and the strong will laugh. The weak crawl on the ground, the strong fly in the sky. When you are strong, there is no unfulfilled hope.”
The mysterious figure spoke passionately, then extended his black hand to the boy again.
“Use all your power, all your wiles, all your schemes, and take everything into your own hands.”
The sweet nectar entangled his body.
Unable to move, the boy just stared at the figure in front of him.
“Thou―dost thou desire power?”
The boy reached for the forbidden fruit.
With the hope of catching up with them, he reached for the forbidden fruit…
