Chapter 300 - Defenceless Base
It wasn't long until a trail of drool formed on the beast's mouth.
'Yeah go, your food is ready,' Klautz thought.
The beasts in the earlier stages of hell didn't have much brains. They were driven by hunger alone, and they were almost always hungry due to the lack of prey. Cannibalism wasn't uncommon and so was the case with eating humans alive as well.
Klautz moved away leaving matters to luck after this. His focus was to smartly increase the throughput of the process. There were simply too many humans fighting together. And the more the hunters the less the chances of one receiving a stat drop. So he could only increase the number of monsters as well.
"That one is already somewhat injured so it shouldn't turn out to be too bad unless they are complete fools." Klautz muttered under his breath as he tried to distract himself from what was happening with his group.
*Sigh*
The last thing he would want was to completely wipe out the group. He was responsible for them after all. They weren't his soldiers in the first place.
'Shizu has gone missing, hasn't she? What is she doing?' Klautz thought.
But thankfully mercenaries were there to move away and safeguard those who couldn't continue anymore. Their sole existence was to protect the second gen but they wouldn't allow the newbies to foolishly die either.
The newbie camp always hired quite a few mercenaries to ensure the safety of its residents, especially those of the influential family. No matter where they went, these guards with no guild to their name would always follow them whenever possible.
Even during their 'commanding phase' which was the second gen leading and training their own team these guard wouldn't back off even though the numbers were enough to ensure safety.
But like every endeavour that had its own pros and cons. This too followed the same principle. While this ensured the absolute safety of those born in hell, it led to a severe thinning of forces at the camp itself!
But even so, it would have been completely harmless in the normal scenario but not this time around for one of the hell borns was left back at the base.

"Hmm, so you are still recovering I see?" Benton asked with a frown as he glanced upon Colt's wrapped hand.
"Yeah ~"
Indeed, it should have recovered by now. But with the bandages surrounding it there would be no way to know.
'It would be rude to simply check it out myself physically.'
*sigh*
'One thing is clear, he is clearly lying. Gotta keep my eyes open.'
"Okay, then rest well. I have got to take my leave."
Colt nodded as Benton left the premises making Colt sigh in relief.
It was then...
*chunk* *chunk*
The sound of metallic armor resounded as it brought along with its own sets of footsteps that didn't seem tame. By no means it appeared that the preparator was trying to hide himself. The door that was closed was swiftly opened and closed behind as the man walked in.
Colt's ears twitched as he turned around.
It was the same metallic armor that the mercenaries wore but the person wearing it had a different aura around him. He was not a symbol of protection rather he was a symbol of doom instead.
Colt squinted his eyes all the while lying on the infirmary bed.
"So you are finally here huh?"
Colt knew that they were coming. He was being targeted even before the camp had begun. He had never known why he was being targeted but now that he looked back on it, it could only be described as his fate.
The man took off his armor as he let go of his disguise. His face was hidden under a mask while his body was covered with simple full sleeved clothes. There was no weapon on him or at least that was what Colt could see. It was hard to expect them to not carry any albeit hidden under their disguise or possibly in his inventory.
"We are still waiting for your response, Colt Ackerman. The world is but a vast stage and there is a role that you must play. You shying away from it would only ruin the plotline," the man spoke in a solemn voice.
Colt sighed.
He had been contacted by these people before the newbie camp began albeit for a short encounter in which they had asked for his cooperation.
For what? That could be anyone's guess. There were only so many things that someone as weak and young as him could help them out with. He wasn't a fool to not understand.
Even the person in front of him would be a tough match for him.
'It's clear as day that he is just an envoy. I can feel it, his strength hasn't matured much despite his age.'
Postmen were always meant to be weak disposable people after all. But it could only make Colt wonder what Kind of organization it was to be using a postman of such caliber.
'If someone disposable is so strong then what about the main members?'
Colt could only wonder.
To defend himself against such possible threats, he had spent a large chunk of human and monetary resources.
The Explosive enchantment that he had prepared on his armor and the one that Klautz had eventually blasted off, was the strongest one his body could bear. It was expensive for him.. Yet he had bought it despite being a one use item.
His bodyguards too were as strong as the mercenaries working here.
One must note that the rogue mercenaries were strong enough to hold their ground in hell despite the presence of powerful guilds with great numbers on their side. Thus they weren't people who could be looked at with scorn.
'Yet here I am…'
*Sigh*
