Chapter 240 - Hatred For Earth Borns
"Looking at the situation, it is time for them to come."
Klautz squeezed his eyes shut trying to catch breath among the horde of a crowd. Being alone throughout his previous life, he found himself a little uncomfortable when suddenly forced into a juttering crowd.
Within a day, the number of mercenaries working at the newbie camp had become thrice of its initial number. It was hard for Klautz to discern the number of ninjas who were working in the shadows but he believed that it had its own substantial growth as well.
It was then…
The fields disappeared in the distance as they were replaced by a large caravan that spawned around a kilometer in length. It was pulled by a humongous beast that had a grey hide and two long horns adorning their skulls. But what was the most striking about it were the troops that surrounded it with uniforms of several forms and colors indicating that they all belonged to different guilds. Such an event was a rare sight that could only be seen once a year.
"It's indeed breathtaking…"
The different guilds were known to work differently. Take the ninjas for example. There wasn't a group similar to them in the whole of hell. Even the Kishiogakure and Mizukigakure had some known differences. As such watching them work together for a common goal was a sight worthy to be beheld.
*Blowing horns*
The sound of trumpets rang as the caravan stopped in front of the building of the 'camp'. The guards immediately came into action clearing a path among the newbies while making sure that each one of them was able to witness the majesty of those that were to come.
And true enough everyone had their eyes on the caravan.
And why won't they have? They were all living like wild prehistoric creatures till now. They had forgotten what society even looked like even though not a month had passed since they were summoned. It is said that the more threats that one faces the faster their time seems to flow.
All the newbies felt like they had already spent over a year in hell. But it hadn't even been a month...
Unlike the second gens who had established positions in the society of hell, the newbies could only stare at the extravagant caravan with widened eyes and drooling mouths.
Klautz's eyes focused on the very opening gates of the caravan. A man dressed in black walked out followed by a lone boy. The black-suited man seemed to be the boy's bodyguard for he welcomed the boy with the bow.
The boy had black hair and black eyes the same as Klautz. But his hair was short and simple, unlike his clothes which seemed to be quite expensive. His chiseled face only added to all of that.
"That's Benton isn't it?"
Klautz smirked. He had seen the adult form of that guy but today he was able to witness a young version of him. All of the second gens who attended the Newbie camp were more or less 18 years old and Benton was no exception. Being graduated to an adult was technically the ticket to the newbie camp for the second gen of affiliated families.
"He had left quite the mark on hell," Klautz whispered to himself as he recalled the man that stood in front of a large audience.
The boy had a simple dressing style. But what was the most distinctive feature about him was his oozing sense of authority that seemed to grant him an eye from everyone. The boy was confident even when standing in front of such a huge group of people despite his ripe age.
"Bring him here," the boy whispered softly.
Immediately the guards of the Sun guild came into action. With their magical armors adorned with the mark of the Sun, they dragged out a man while the others carried out a small box of unknown origin.
Benton nodded as his eyes scanned the crowd of newbies causing him to click his tongue.
"Tch, so many leaches this time around."
His soft words of remorse were heard by none. But his pinched expression wasn't unnoticed by Klautz.
The guards brought the man all tied up as they forced him to sit in front of the boy.
*Crack*
On the brink of a moment, the boy lifted his leg and slammed it against the man in front of him. The strength of someone who was in his 90s wasn't to be trifled with. The man's bones cracked as he screamed in pain.
"ahhh!"
But the more he screamed, the more pressure the boy applied on his foot alleviating his pain. The boy gritted his teeth as the eyes of many newbies present fixated on him watching the merciless show.
Soon enough, the man stopped crying as his body learned what it needed to do to stop the pain.
"Good"
Benton nodded.
"This man was once a newbie here just like all of you." Benton's eyes met with the crowd. "But he was useless! He could only work in my guild as a slave licking our boots for a year. And now scream his lungs out at the smallest of pain. Isn't it alarming? You guys could very much reach the same position as him."
Klautz nodded.
"He was always like this. I see."
Klautz had no idea why he was so much hostile to the newbies. Even if he hated them there was no reason for him to publicly declare it considering his political position. But he still chose to do the same.
'Can't help but be curious.' Klautz thought.
Benton had also left quite a mark in the history of hell itself in Klautz's previous life. He was the one who in his older years had started a rebellion against allocating resources for the earthlings.
