Chapter 28: The method to enter the sandbox
Chapter 28: The method to enter the sandbox
"Witches, huh?"
Xu Zhi smiled.
He had patiently waited for more than three days, which was three hundred years in their world. After struggling for a long time after the Great Flood, there were finally signs of revival.
The first supernatural species, the Evil Eye had appeared within the sandbox, and the women who could assimilate its genes became witches, opening up the path to a magic civilization.
"The Evil Eye is really amazing!"
Xu Zhi smiled happily. It had been a great idea to create the smaller sandbox. Akinas Speedsters unconventional thought process has created an amazing species.
He sat on a bench at the entrance to the courtyard while eating an apple. "Its so true! Two heads really are better than one."
As a matter of fact, termite genes were very difficult to assimilate, the blank genetic fragment needed was too large. Normal people just dont have that much blank space in their genetic sequence..
Evil Eye genes, on the other hand, had a much lower requirement, and were easier to assimilate. Three successes out of four hundred failures was not bad at all.
This may be because the Evil Eye was a much weaker species than the termite. And accordingly, the three witches were far weaker than Gilgamesh.
They needed warriors to protect them and could only barely win against the great beasts. Meanwhile, Gilgamesh could conquer the world all by himself. The difference was great.
After all, they only had a rudimentary grasp of their mental powers. Though the three witches had begun to seriously study their own abilities, developing magic and medicine, their progress was much too slow.
Xu Zhi thought for a moment and returned to his room to look up information on the Internet. "On the Internet, I can find information on the meditation practices of both East and West. These are exercises for the mind and spirit and should prove useful. If I give them this information as a basis, maybe theyll be able develop a systematic approach to studying magic?
Blazing a new path was difficult, you were bound to run into obstacles every step of the way. It would be much easier if you at least knew the general direction that you needed to head towards. Xu Zhi could provide them with that direction.
But, how should he descend and meet the three witches within their tribe?
Should he turn into the Great Beast of Wisdom, and hand them the Three Treasures of Civilization once again?
Xu Zhi quickly rejected the idea. Definitely not.
Neither could he directly control one of the sandboxs creatures by overwriting its soul and stealing its body, turning it into his avatar within the sandbox. Otherwise, hed already be having fun within the sandbox.
While Xu Zhi was considering his options, the most hardcore players in the small sandbox had started to climb ashore. They found that there really was a colossal giant sitting on a chair in the distance. At the moment, he was thoughtfully eating an apple.
"This game is so interesting! In the setting, were really just bugs evolving in somebodys yard. Will we have to go against that giant someday?
A couple of oddly shaped players were whispering amongst themselves. They felt that this game really had an amazing amount of freedom. There was no main plot and it was all about exploration and discovery. It was quite a novel game.
"So awesome. With this huge size, he's just like the legendary Pangu."
"So, we're supposed to evolve, and then f*ck him up?"
"Shh! Lets just quietly observe. We're no match for him right now. We're all ants at the moment, he shouldnt be able to see us."
"Don't go near him. It took us so much effort to climb ashore, it wont even be funny if he tramples our king' to death."
The group of players lurked in the forest by the shore, snickering amongst themselves as they secretly observed him.
"Bunch of comedians." Xu Zhi looked at the small ants on the ground. They were whispering amongst themselves, acting all sneaky and secretive. They really thought he was a boss, and were trying to come up with strategies to beat him.
Knock knock!
There was a knock at the gate. It was Chen Xi bringing food over again.
"Never mind, let's eat first." He stood up and walked towards the gate.
"F*ck! F*ck! F*ck! It's an earthquake! It's a f*cking earthquake! And so realistic too!"
"Guys, its only because he's standing up! His shadow covers the sky, and the world is shaking with his footsteps! Run! Be careful! Don't let him stomp you to death!"
Countless screams were heard.
A group of bizarre creatures were scurrying away in panic.
Like a pack of rabid dogs, they ran like crazy across the land. A towering giant slowly followed them from behind.
He crossed a thousand miles with each step and easily passed over them, disappearing into the distance.
When Xu Zhi came back, he had a blue lunch box in his hand. He returned to his chair and started eating. The meal consisted of fried eggs, carrots, and cabbage. Each bite was an explosion of fragrance and flavor. Fresh farm food was really savory and delicious.
Xu Zhi blissfully enjoyed his meal as he continued to ponder how he should contact the three witches of Babylon.
At this time, the players who were hiding in the trees crept out once again. They studied the giant eating lunch while sitting in the yard, and resumed their whispered discussion.
"Wow, the degree of freedom in this game is awesome!"
"This boss even has cutscenes. We must have triggered one somehow."
"Shh, let's slowly and cautiously grow strong first."
..
As Xu Zhi ate his lunch, he studied the players secretly studying him, and was again left speechless. They were once again discussing how they could beat him. A thought suddenly occurred to him: "Right! The evolution sandbox!"
"I'll just turn into a player myself and start evolving from a spore. Once I've evolved into a player-controlled creature, I'll enter the big sandbox. Problem solved!"
This idea made him really excited. He decided to test the feasibility of the idea the moment he finished eating. If he could actually do this, it would mean that hed be able to enter the sandbox whenever he wanted.
Building the little sandbox had been a really inspired idea.
Since Xu Zhi was going to play the game himself, he naturally had to clear the playing field.
In the next second, a notice appeared.
"This game will undergo emergency maintenance and will go offline in three seconds!"
