Chapter 25
Chapter 25: Identity Verification
Pei Mingchen’s worried gaze could not stop falling on Mu Qiannian.
When they arrived at the hotel, Mu Qiannian was still in a trance.
After hesitating for a moment, Pei Mingchen left the hotel and brought her to the shopping mall.
Pei Mingchen walked to the entrance of the shopping mall. “Go in first. Wait for me at the cold drink shop on the first floor. I’ll go park the car.”
Before Mu Qiannian could ask why he came to the mall, Pei Mingchen had already left in his car.
Mu Qiannian had no choice but to put away the DNA report and enter the mall in a low mood.
Just as she passed through the door, a familiar voice sounded from behind her..
“Mom, why did you bring me to the mall? I don’t need anything.” It was Mu Wanwan’s voice.
Then, a very loving voice sounded, “I just miss you and want you to spend more time with me. Tell me if you see anything today. I’ll buy it for you.”
Mu Qiannian turned around in surprise and bumped into Mother Su and Mu Wanwan.
When Mother Su saw Mu Qiannian, she was pleasantly surprised while Mu Wanwan was panicking.
“It’s you?!”
Mother Su pulled Mu Wanwan forward. Mu Qiannian’s gaze swept past the two of them who were intimately holding each other’s arms before moving away.
“I’m here for a stroll. What a coincidence.”
It turned out that she was Madam Su. This was the second time they had met.
Mu Wanwan had already recovered her original expression. She used a little strength to pull Mother su back.
“Mom, do you know her?”
Mother Su shook her head. “I don’t know her. It’s just that a few days ago at the hospital, she helped mom once. Mom didn’t have the time to ask her name to thank her.”
Mu Wanwan secretly heaved a sigh of relief when she heard that. A thought flashed through her mind as she looked at the dispirited Mu Qiannian.
Mu Wanwan pretended to be hesitant before she lowered her voice and said, “Mom, don’t be fooled by her. She’s actually very scheming.”
Mother Su looked surprised. “You two know each other?”
Mu Wanwan nodded. “She was previously engaged to her fiancé but ended up with his younger brother. It’s better for us to avoid people who behave inappropriately.”
Mu Qiannian felt frustrated as she watched the two of them whispering intimately.
Mu Qiannian could not hear what Mu Wanwan said to Madam Su at all, but she heard Madam Su’s firm and Resolute Voice.
“How is that possible? This young lady can’t be that kind of person. I believe in my own judgment. Wanwan, don’t judge based on hearsay. It’s not good.”
Madam Su’s voice was very gentle and her body was filled with motherly care.
After she finished speaking to Mu Wanwan, her gaze fell on Mu Qiannian.
“Are you alone? Do you want to come with us? I haven’t thanked you for what happened before.”
Mu Qiannian wanted to reject her, but she heard Mu Wanwan acting coquettishly.
“Mom, I only want to go shopping with you today. Can we not ask others to come with us?”
Madam Su’s heart softened when she heard her request. She looked at Mu Qiannian with an embarrassed expression. “I’m really sorry. I still need to accompany my daughter. If there’s a chance next time, I’ll definitely thank you properly.”
Mu Qiannian could clearly see the pride and fearlessness in Mu Wanwan’s eyes when Mother Su said the words, ‘my daughter’.
Mu Qiannian instantly thought of the DNA test report and her eyes dimmed.
“Okay.”
Mother Su smiled and nodded as she said goodbye. Mu Wanwan could not wait to bring Mu Qiannian to the second floor.
Looking at Mu Qiannian’s motionless figure at the door, Mu Wanwan sneered when Mother Su did not notice.
‘Once I have the status of the Su family and the love of my parents, I’ll see what else you can fight me with!’
When they reached the second floor, Madam Su chose a dessert house and sat down. Her gaze swept across the menu.
“Wanwan, see if there’s anything you like in there.”
Mu Wanwan looked at the menu carefully and ordered a sweet dessert.
Madam Su was slightly surprised. “Something sweet? Will it be too sweet? When you were young, the thing you hated the most was sweet and greasy food.”
Mu Wanwan’s heart tightened and she quickly explained, “I’ve already grown up. My taste must have changed too.”
Mother Su nodded and then remembered that her daughter had left her since she was young. She could not help but feel sad and regretful.
“Yeah, you’ve already grown up. You were just a little kid when you were young and chased after your mother for dolls all day long. Do you still remember which doll you liked the most?”
Mu Wanwan was stunned again. How would she know what the original Young Miss Su liked about dolls.
However, in order not to expose herself in front of Madam Su, she had a troubled expression on her face.
“When I was young, I was in an orphanage. I accidentally fell on my head while swinging on the swing and was sick for a long time. After I recovered, I don’t remember what happened in the past anymore.”
When Madam Su heard this, she immediately showed a loving expression. “My dear, why is your life so miserable?!”
Madam Su thought about her daughter who disappeared when she was young. She should have been pampered and raised, but why were there so many disasters when she was young?
After the shopping mall ended, Mother Su brought Mu Wanwan back to the Su family home.
“Wanwan, is there anything you want to eat? I’ll get Mrs. Lin to make it for you.”
Mrs. Lin was the Su family’s cook for more than 20 years. She was an old acquaintance that the Su family could not leave easily.
Mu Wanwan shook her head and was very obedient. “I’ll eat whatever you have. I’m not picky.”
She followed Mother Su to the living room. Father Su was already sitting on the sofa bed watching the news.
Mother Su pulled Mu Wanwan to sit in the middle of the two of them, like a family of three.
However, Father Su secretly frowned and endured the awkwardness. However, he did not move his seat.
Mother Su kept chatting with Mu Wanwan until they talked about Mu Wanwan’s current ‘foster parents’.
Father Su suddenly became interested and asked with a normal expression, “You’re in the Mu family now? Are those the foster parents who brought you out of the orphanage?”
Mu Wanwan nodded. “Yes, my foster parents are good to me.”
Father Su nodded. “Then make an appointment for both our families to sit together. We have to thank them properly.”
Mu Wanwan’s heart skipped a beat and she nodded.
“I’ll go back tonight to ask about the time. If you’re not busy, maybe tomorrow afternoon will be fine.”
Mother Su nodded excitedly. “It’s okay. As long as it’s convenient for your foster parents, we can do it anytime. After all, they’ve helped me take care of you for so many years. We have to thank them properly.”
Father Su did not say anything at the side. Listening to his wife’s grateful words, his heart was filled with mixed feelings.
If Mu Wanwan was not their daughter, would his wife be disappointed and sad?
Thinking about the family recognition banquet that was about to be held, Father Su’s brows sank.
After Mu Wanwan finished eating and left, Father Su dialed Pei he’s number in the study room.
“President Su.”
Pei He answered the call. After hesitating for a moment, Father Su asked, “Regarding Mu Wanwan’s background, I still want to confirm it.”
This time, it was Pei He’s turn to remain silent. At noon, he learned that Mu Qiannian was not the person he was looking for.
Then, it could be confirmed that Mu Wanwan was the long-lost Young Miss Su, who had been missing for almost 20 years.
