Chapter 114: Trinity Research Institute: 3rd Division (4)

A secret construction was happening in the center of the Garden of Mini Reaper. The Golden Reapers were carrying out a mischievous plan while avoiding the eyes of the Gray Reaper. They were digging deep pits as if creating a trap.

Finding something funny which no one else knew, the Golden Reapers giggled when they made eye contact with each other even while digging.

The location of the pit they were digging was precisely calculated by the Blue Reapers.

It was right below where the Gray Reaper popped out everytime it entered the Garden of Mini Reaper!

The Golden Reapers who were busy making a trap hole seemed to be much happier than usual. They exchanged mischievous smiles with each other while their eyes sparkled with the thrill of secret operations.

The work of the Golden Reapers was as innocent as children's play, but the results stood out because of how precise it was, as if it was made by skilled craftsmen.

In the ever so peaceful Garden of Mini Reaper, a cute and secret plot which the Gray Reaper didn’t know was slowly coming to completion.

*******Ugh, it's sticky.

I looked around, shaking off the black slime that covered my entire body.

The containment room of the Trinity which was assigned to me had become a complete mess.

Well, it seemed like Trinity Research Institute had called me with the intention of dealing with me from the beginning, so it was a foregone conclusion.

I was able to deal with Objects that give off foul odours really quickly.

Plop-! Plop-!

I gathered my thoughts as I slowly chased after the woman who had run away amidst the chaos.

In fact, I was really surprised when the Objects attacked me in the containment room.

Of course, I wasn't surprised because the Objects I attacked were special or strong.

I was surprised because I could see what to do to destroy an Object.

Usually, when I looked at an Object with my eyes, I could only see the destruction conditions, but it did not tell me how to do it.

But this time, I could also see the way and method of killing an Object.

< clap="" twice="" in="" 3="" seconds="" before="" tumbling="" back="" and="" collapsing="" the="" building.="">

That kind of hint started to appear in front of me.

Originally, when it came to Objects, the ability was limited to only affect the surroundings, as in the case of my fight with the Hungry Ghost in Songpa-gu.

So, when I got really excited earlier, the surroundings became a complete mess before I even realized.

Maybe, the reason for the change was because I gained too much strength from eating objects these days.

Of course, I was not certain about it.

It could be that the monsters from Trinity were too weak, so I would have to experiment to see if it was  visible to other objects as well.

As I moved after the woman, the barrier of the institute began to come down.

Thump-! thump-!

The barrier crashed into the floor, sending out a deafening roar and shock waves.

The sound it made was similar to the sound of a huge steel jaw closing, signalling a complete change in the atmosphere of the institute.

After that, the emergency lights spun around, scattering red light all over the place.

The red emergency lights cast long, dancing shadows, giving the spaces divided by the barrier an even more ominous atmosphere.

The loud siren sound that started blaring together with the appearance of the emergency lights echoed between the steel walls.

The once brightly lit hallway was now covered in a gloomy red light, was now compartmentalised by the barriers and transformed into something foreign.

Now, even just looking at it, anyone could feel that the Trinity Research Institute was in a state of ‘Emergency’.

Oh, it kind of felt like I was looking at a lab where monsters were escaping in a quarantine novel.

Really Interesting!

As I followed the woman's footsteps, I heard a familiar voice.

“Open it! Open it!”

I could see a woman opening the console near the barrier and operating something.

*******Suddenly the entire lab was put in a lockdown.

The director of the institute was still resting, so it was definitely that man damned man doing: The chief of security team.

Click-! Click-!

The sound of fingers tapping into the console echoed in the tense air.

The ever growing clicking sound clearly showed the woman's growing anxiety.

At first, she begged the surveillance camera to open the barricade in front of her, but now she had given up.

After all, It was clear that the man had no intention of opening it.

“Open it! Open it!”

A monster was chasing her from behind! On top of that, it was a monster with abilities that she couldn’t guess!

She didn't want to fight a monster like that.

In the first place, it was the security team who should be fighting, not the researchers!

It felt as if her life was constantly being shaved every second she was there.

The woman suddenly broke into a cold sweat and became increasingly anxious.

An unidentified chill seemed to penetrate deep into her.

Fear consumed, gnawed, and confused her mind.

It felt like a monster was breathing on the back of her neck.

Hu… Calm down…

The woman closed her eyes and let her mind calm down.

The monster shouldn’t be able to kill the soldiers any time soon.

Since there were more than 100 soldiers, she still should have at least 300 seconds or 5 minutes to spare.

Let's think rationally.

As a Deputy Director of Trinity, she should think logically and rationally.

The woman's pounding heart gradually calmed down.

Okay, now let’s calmly open the barrier!

The woman opened her eyes as his mind settled.

“Aaaahhh!”

However, the woman instantly screamed because she was startled.

In the place where the console monitor sat, the head of the Gray Reaper was looking at her.

The woman felt like she was going to faint when she saw the strange smile on the Gray Reaper’s face.

Her mind went blank, her breath came in short gasps, and her heart began to pound, threatening to burst through her ribcage.

As her composure disappeared, the woman turned around and began to run away once again.

Ha… Ha…

But she had no choice but to stop in her tracks as she started to run out of breath.

After all, in her panic, she just ran without thinking, making her run into a dead end.

It was a fatal mistake.

The woman swallowed her fear and slowly looked towards the way she had come, clutching her chest as if her heart was about to burst out.

The red emergency lights were spinning around, illuminating the hallway, but the Gray Reaper was not visible wherever under the ominous light.

Did I finally lose it?

The moment such hopeful thoughts crossed her mind, the Gray Reaper popped out under the red light like a ghost.

It had its head down as it was immersed in darkness.

“!!!”

Following the rotation of the red lights,

One space at a time.

Even without moving its feet, the Gray Reaper got closer and closer, like a ghost.

The panicked woman literally sat down on the floor and pushed her body back with her hands.

“No. No. Don’t come.”

But soon the wall blocked her back while the Gray Reaper kept coming towards him.

She couldn’t dodge it!

The woman squeezed her eyes shut in fear.

Haa… Haa…

The sound of heavy breathing could be heard in the darkness and silence.

However, nothing happened for a while.

Was she so scared to the point that she was hallucinating?

When the woman opened her eyes to confront her own doubt, what she saw were two small feet of the Gray Reaper.

“N… No!”

And when she raised her head, what she saw was the Gray Reaper punching her with an expression that as if saying it had had enough of the fun.

*******The headless corpse of the woman started to swell all of a sudden.

Oh! Phase 2 already?

For something that felt 1,5 times stronger than Hungry Ghost subspecies, It felt too timid and weak.

However, the killing condition of the woman was the same as the Hungry Ghost subspecies, <depletion of="" its="" regenerative="" power="">, so she wouldn't die with only this much.</depletion>

"Ha ha ha ha ha."

Her voice, cracking and tearing wildly, burst from her corpse.

“I’m not scared, I’m not scared”

A huge blade hit the floor with a thudding sound.

An Object made up of a huge blade appeared, as if tearing apart the corpse while emitting a foul odor.

It seemed harder and stronger than the Hungry Ghost subspecies.

Moreover, it looked like she had completely shaken off the fear caused by my ‘Eyes'.

How strong she was, I wonder?

*******Inside the Trinity Research Institute facility control room which was filled with high-tech equipment, people in security uniforms were looking at the monitors.

“Chief. The guiding operation is complete.”

“I see. You did well.”

The chief of the security team, who ordered the operation to guide Trinity's deputy director using the barrier, smiled with satisfaction.

“But, is it okay to do this? We’re using the deputy director as bait…”

“It’s okay, it’s okay. The deputy director is someone who is not needed at all in this research institute. She just became the deputy director because she is loyal and has a high aptitude for evolution.”

The chief of the security team continued his speech with a mocking smile.

“Now, let’s start testing the Gray Reaper. Let’s start with testing the ghost form interference frequency.”

"I understand."

The chief of the security team spoke with a serious expression as if he was making a promise.

“Since the director is not here, we will have to do our duty. Killing it will be fine, but let’s accumulate as much data as possible first.”

*******Even though the kidnapped and imprisoned people could escape from the bars, they were still being imprisoned.

It was because whenever they tried to leave the cage, the blue mini Reapers had a stern expression on their face as they blocked their way.

Even so, the people's mood wasn't that bad.

“Wow, it’s a butterfly!”

“I want one too!”

It was thanks to the noisy and happy laughter of the children echoing from all directions.

There were quite a few children inside the prison, probably because many families had come to visit. The Blue Reapers were entertaining those children with various magic.

< oh="" shiny="" butterflies,="" please="" fly="" around!="">

< Big soap bubbles, appear! >

As unidentified writings adorned the air, the cackling laughter of the children hit the crescendo.

In the meantime, the giant Reaper made of water, which had eliminated the enemies with great strength, was now lying on the ground and had become a playground for children.

“So soft!”

The children were jumping up and down on top of the giant water golem.

It's called theTrampoline of Giant Gray Reaper!

A joyful atmosphere spread around the prison that made it difficult for anyone to believe that these people had even been kidnapped.
