Sense

Chapter 0: Prologue

The day I learned to ride a bicycle.

After almost falling over numerous times, I finally advanced 10m. The sense of accomplishment I felt could not be put into words.

Afterwards, I had this thought that worried me.

What if I forget how to ride a bike when I wake up tomorrow?

But the next day, and the day after that, I didn’t have any trouble riding my bike around. That was because my body remembered what to do.

A kind scholar defined it in this way…

Procedural Memory.

But the thing is….

No matter where I searched on the Internet, there was no explanation about the phenomenon I am currently experiencing.

I can do tricks I haven’t learned on a skateboard, play the piano expertly without having touched one before, and even swing a tennis racket naturally when I had never even trained…

What do you call it when you can make use of the procedural memory of others as if it was yours?
