Chapter 51
A Win-Win Situation
They had proof in the form of photos they just shot in front of all. An Xiaowan also saw the photos from the corner of her eye.
Before Gu Yingsheng could say anything, An Xiaowan pointed towards the screen at the photo of a trio. She smiled and said, “Chief Editor, don’t you think this photo is perfect for the cover page?”
The trio in the photo was Gu Yingsheng, Mei Yue, and An Xiaowan.
The Chief Editor narrowed her eyes, and then his lips loosened into a smile.
“Yes, this was very well taken.”
Gu Yingsheng suddenly stopped herself from saying what she wanted to previously, and Mei Yue chuckled softly.
“I’ve seen many covers that feature more than one person, and the effect was also pretty good.” An Xiaowan kept her mobile phone down. She did not look at the final results on Weibo.
Obviously, she won.
The agreement with the Chief Editor was that the winner would be on this week’s cover page.
An Xiaowan knew this was the best way to do it.
She did not have a reputation. In fact, she had a rather poor reputation. It would not boost sales if she was featured alone on the magazine’s cover. Two people invite gossip and scandal easily. But if there were three of them, Gu Yingsheng, Mei Yue, and herself, that would be a different story.
An Xiaowan would suddenly be a model appearing on the same cover page as them. Their fan base and reputation would definitely boost sales and advertising, not to mention it will even lead to a rise in An Xiaowan’s status in the industry.
It appeared as if she was compromising, but truthfully, it was a win-win situation.
Mei Yue and the Chief Editor also clearly understood this, and therefore they both smiled at An Xiaowan’s suggestion.
It seems An Xiaowan was an intelligent woman.
“Absolutely, the final effect is the most important.” The Chief Editor turned to Gu Yingsheng and Mei Yue and asked, “What do you both think of this idea?”
The words that were at the tip of Gu Yingsheng’s tongue had been forced back down her throat, but she had not quite recovered from her thoughts.
However, Mei Yue responded first by nodding her head. “I don’t have a problem with it.”
“Yingsheng?”
“Neither do I.” Gu Yingsheng looked away as she said that.
“Great, then let’s…”
Seeing how everyone casually excluded her in settling the matter of cover, Wen Biyu was in disbelief for two seconds before she suddenly jumped to her feet resentfully.
“What’s going on? What about me?”
The Chief Editor looked at Wen Biyu once, and said flatly, “You were right at the bottom for that competition.”
“I…” Wen Biyu was not going to back down, and she retorted, “An Xiaowan cheated, it doesn’t count!”
The Chief Editor frowned and thought,
“This girl… Doesn’t she know how to play by the rules?”
Still, because of Wen Biyu’s association with An Xue, he didn’t want to make things difficult for Wen Biyu.
Hence, he pulled Wen Biyu to the side and spoke softly, “In the middle of this month, we are producing an add-on of the main edition. The add-on cover can be yours.”
Wen Biyu’s eyes brightened. She did not care, if it was an add-on or something else entirely, all she wanted was to be on the cover page. Furthermore, she would not have to share it with anyone.
“Okay!”
The Chief Editor was apathetic seeing Wen Biyu delighted and excited.
Inside the Huo Building, the meeting finally ended.
Assistant Luo passed the phone to Huo Shen. Huo Shen took it and saw that An Xiaowan’s post was dominating the top position in the search list, and he secretly felt pleased.
Taking out his own phone, Huo Shen replied to An Xiaowan’s WeChat message.
“Ok.”
The woman in the picture had an edgy look to her body, and her dark eyes reflected a hint of deep green color against the light. There was an incomprehensible expression of desolation on her face.
Was it just a facade?
Huo Shen stared hard at the woman in the picture, then suddenly picked up his phone and made a call.
Without any greeting or other formalities, he directly gave his instruction, “Come over.”
On the other end of the line, An Xiaowan heard his concise and sharp command. She was about to say something, but Huo Shen had already hung up.
“An Xiaowan.”
An Xiaowan was hastily walking out of the studio when Wen Biyu suddenly pulled her arm. Wen Biyu sneered, “I have news for you.”
An Xiaowan shook Wen Biyu off. She flicked her long and wavy locks and revealed an enchanting but condescending smile. “Not interested.”
Instead of getting angry, Wen Biyu casually stood there and crossed her arms in front of her chest and said, “It’s regarding your old family home.”
An Xiaowan’s footsteps paused dead in her tracks.
