Chapter 28: First World: King-Sized Bed For Qie Ran
Chapter 28: First World: King-Sized Bed For Qie Ran
With grand motivation, Master Lin went hard at work supervising the construction of the boys' shelter without sparing any expense. He made sure that this house would meet the emperor's standards just in case he ever found out that the prince grew up in his hometown. He built five common rooms that could fit two boys leaving extra space just in case the group of boys expanded. As for Qie Ranzhe's room, it was designed to fit a prince with the best of everything.
When Wen Qinxi saw it, he couldn't help but be envious. This room was way better than his with an even more comfortable king-size bed. 'Why the fuck does he need a king-size bed for?' thought Wen Qinxi lying on it making snow angels with his four limbs. "Jin! Get off Qie Ranzhe's bed!" yelled Master Lin effectively chasing his son off.
"Makes me wonder which one of us is your son between me and Qie Ranzhe?" sneered Wen Qinxi dashing out in time before a scroll was thrown in his direction. Today was the day the boys were moving in and the whole town had made such a grand affair celebrating as though it was new years.
Wen Qinxi decided to slip away as he had more important matters to attend to which was collecting Qie Ranzhe's sword. It pained him each time he saw him practise with a wooden sword like a ten-year-old. Though his skill was top-notch, that wooden sword might reduce his favorability points with Zhao Huangzhi so it had to go.
It was time to gift Qie Ranzhe with his first big boy toy. 'Don't you think you are messing with the plot a bit?' asked Jolie as Wen Qinxi walked over to the expert ironsmith Master Lin had recommended. When he had mentioned it to Master Lin, the man eagerly gave him more money to add on and buy the best sword the ironsmith could craft.
'I heard you clearly before, this the fourth time you are asking me this question. He has great potential and deserves a great sword to practice with. Once the female lead gives him the legendary Hei An Zhi then he can swap it out. Quit worrying, I will tell him I am just lending him this sword,' replied Wen Qinxi as he entered the shop forgetting he had engraved the sword with Qie Ranzhe's name.
'Sure, whatever you say you are the boss,' said Jolie in a dispirited tone but in actuality, it was already counting its winnings against Hei Bao and Xia Bai with an inner evil laugh.
The ironsmith excitedly welcomed Wen Qi ready to show off the masterpiece he had made for young master Lin. The young man had been extremely fickle with a lot of requirements but his nit-picky details had allowed this ironsmith to produce one of his best creations. The man placed the case on the counter allowing the young master to open it for himself.
When he opened the case, Wen Qinxi unsheathed the sword while having a massive freak out with teary eyes. He was dazzled by the slender devilishly sharp sword which was azure around its edges with a black fuller engraved with Qie Ranzhe's name characters. The cross-guard was shaped like a blue phoenix with its wings spread out as though soaring into the sky and the grip blend with blue and black. Wen Qinxi was so thrilled his face flushed in excitement. In his hand, he was holding something he only saw in games and anime but now it was tangible shimmering under the sun rays.
He only sheathed it back into its scabbard after the initial excitement wore off. Wen Qinxi could already imagine Qie Ranzhe dressed in black noble garments holding this sword while slaying his enemies. He carefully placed it back into the case and had just shut it when he felt something warm and tingly on his neck. "What are you doing?" said a charming deep voice ever so familiar to him.
The hairs at the back of his neck rose in fright as he muttered, "Fuck!" while his entire body was frozen stiff. A startled Wen Qinxi jumped over the counter while grabbing the case ultimately hiding it behind his back. Qie Ranzhe didn't expect that kind of reaction and so scowled curious about what Lin Jingxie was hiding. 'The fuck! Is he getting a gift for someone he doesn't want me to know about?' he thought leaning in over the counter gazing at him.
"How did you know that I was here? Wear a fucking bell or something, you almost gave me a heart attack," said Wen Qinxi shoving the case on the shelf behind him. Well, that was a good question. Why was Qie Ranzhe here? He had been at the back of the crowd at the grand opening of their new home patiently waiting for Lin Jingxie to appear but the ceremony started and he still hadn't made an appearance.
Actually, he only showed up for that ceremony because he was anticipating to see Lin Jingxie but was disappointed when he didn't see him. It only took a glare to make Lin Mingxu spill the beans informing him where he was but he didn't expect him to be all secretive hiding some gift he made for someone.
"Lin Mingxu told me," he said tilting to the side trying to see what Lin Jingxie was hiding, "What's that?"
"It's nothing you don't have to worry about it," replied Wen Qinxi hiding it deeper into the shelf.
Qie Ranzhe felt an inexplicable pain in the pit of his stomach while unconsciously clenching his fist guzzling down a tank of pure vinegar. 'I know he doesn't like me but why does it fuckin hurt?' he thought before turning to walk out with an expressionless face. "Sorry to disturb you then. I will take my leave now," he said before walking out stomping his feet leaving behind a confused Wen Qinxi and ironsmith.
