Chapter 104: Menace II

Flora's eyes darted between the two figures, her instincts screaming at her to remain on guard. The black orc, towering and bristling with raw power, took a step forward, his every movement radiating lethal intent. His crimson eyes locked onto Flora, and for the first time in many years, she felt a twinge of fear.

"You dare lay a hand on our master," Grimruk growled, his voice a low rumble that reverberated through the air. His hand gripped the massive axe, the blade's edges glinting ominously in the dim light. "You have made a grave mistake, Flora Warden."

Mortem, the figure in the grey robe, stepped forward, the air around him crackling with dark energy. His voice, normally calm and collected, now held an edge of fury. "Canna is not just our master," he hissed, his tone dripping with malice. "He is the Harbinger, the one who will bring about the end of those who stand against him. And you, Flora, have sealed your fate."

Flora's eyes narrowed as she took a defensive stance, her vines retracting momentarily as she assessed the threat. She could feel the immense power radiating from these two beings, and though she was strong, she knew she was outnumbered and outmatched. Still, she would not back down. The safety of her people depended on her.

Grimruk charged first, his battle axe cleaving through the air with terrifying speed. Flora barely had time to react as she conjured a barrier of thick vines, the axe smashing into them with enough force to send shockwaves through the ground. The impact splintered the earth beneath them, and Flora was forced to retreat several steps.

But Grimruk was relentless. He swung his axe again, the sheer weight and power behind each strike threatening to overwhelm her defenses. Flora gritted her teeth, reinforcing her barrier with more vines, but she could feel the strain. Each blow from Grimruk was like a battering ram, and she knew it was only a matter of time before her defenses crumbled.

Meanwhile, Mortem stood back, his hands weaving through the air as dark tendrils of necrotic energy began to coalesce around him. With a flick of his wrist, he summoned a horde of undead creatures from the ground. Skeletal warriors, their bones clattering as they rose, and ghostly apparitions, their forms flickering like shadows in the wind, emerged to do his bidding.

"Go," Mortem commanded, his voice cold and commanding. "Protect our master. Heal him."

The undead surged forward, their hollow eyes glowing with an eerie light as they surrounded Canna's fallen form. One of the ghostly healers, a spectral figure draped in tattered robes, knelt beside Canna and began to chant in a haunting, otherworldly language. Tendrils of healing energy flowed from the healer's hands, enveloping Canna in a soft, greenish glow.

His wounds began to close, his strength returning as the healing magic worked its way through his battered body.

Flora, seeing this, growled in frustration. She couldn't allow Canna to recover—if he did, the battle would surely be lost. But Grimruk was relentless, and every attempt she made to strike at Canna was blocked by the ferocious orc. His battle axe danced through the air with deadly precision, cutting through her vines and forcing her back with every strike.

"Enough!" Flora shouted, her voice tinged with desperation. With a wave of her hand, she summoned a massive tree root from the ground, sending it crashing toward Grimruk . The orc leaped back, narrowly avoiding the attack, but the root continued its assault, smashing into the ground where he had stood just moments before.

Grimruk snarled, his patience wearing thin. "You fight well, Warden," he admitted, his voice filled with begrudging respect. "But you are outmatched."

With a roar, Grimruk surged forward, his battle axe swinging in a wide arc. Flora barely had time to conjure another barrier before the edge struck, the force of the impact sending her skidding backward. Her vines lashed out in retaliation, but Grimruk was relentless, cutting through them with ease as he advanced.

At the same time, Mortem's undead minions swarmed the battlefield, keeping Flora's reinforcements at bay. The skeletal warriors clashed with the Verdant Wardens, their bones rattling as they fought with unnatural strength. The ghostly apparitions drifted through the battlefield, their ethereal forms passing through solid objects as they harried Flora's forces with spells and curses.

As Flora battled Grimruk , she could feel the tide of the battle turning against her. Her strength was waning, and she knew she couldn't keep this up much longer. But she couldn't afford to lose—not when the safety of her people was at stake.

With a desperate cry, Flora unleashed a powerful burst of energy, her vines surging forward with renewed vigor. They wrapped around Grimruk's axe, holding it in place as she conjured a massive boulder from the earth and sent it hurtling toward him.

Grimruk grinned, his eyes gleaming with excitement. "Finally, a real fight!" he roared, his muscles bulging as he broke free of the vines with sheer brute strength. He swung his axe, shattering the boulder into a thousand pieces with a single strike.

But Flora was already moving, her vines lashing out like whips as she closed the distance between them. She struck with lightning speed, her fists and vines moving in perfect harmony as she unleashed a flurry of blows that would have brought any lesser opponent to their knees.

Yet Grimruk held his ground, his battle axe a blur as he deflected each attack with precision. His strength and endurance were unmatched, and Flora could feel her own energy waning with each passing moment.

"You can't win, Warden," Grimruk growled, his voice filled with grim determination. "Our master will rise, and when he does, this battle will be over."

Flora knew he was right. She could feel the power radiating from Canna as he recovered, his strength returning with each passing second. If she didn't end this soon, all would be lost.

With a final, desperate effort, Flora summoned every ounce of strength she had left. Her vines exploded outward, wrapping around Grimruk and lifting him off the ground. She hurled him across the clearing, buying herself a moment to catch her breath.

But that moment was short-lived. Mortem stepped forward, his eyes glowing with dark energy as he raised his hands. A wave of necrotic power surged from his fingertips, crashing into Flora like a tidal wave. She screamed in pain as the dark energy tore through her, sapping her strength and leaving her vulnerable.

Grimruk recovered quickly, his axe gleaming as he charged at Flora once more. She barely had time to react as he closed the distance, his blade slicing through the air with lethal intent.

But just as Grimruk's axe was about to strike, a powerful shockwave rippled through the battlefield, sending both combatants staggering backward. Flora looked up in shock to see Canna, now fully healed and radiating power, standing tall and defiant.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

"Enough," Canna's voice was calm but filled with an unmistakable authority. The ground trembled beneath him as the storm clouds above darkened further, lightning crackling in the sky.

Flora, panting and weakened, glared at Canna. "You... you should have stayed down."

Canna's eyes glinted dangerously as he stepped forward, his aura flaring with the full force of his power. "You wanted to see who I really am?" he said, his voice a low growl. "Then let me show you."

The air around them became electric as the final confrontation loomed, tension crackling like the storm above. All eyes were on Canna as he prepared to unleash his true power. The battle was far from over, and the outcome was uncertain. But one thing was clear: Flora had underestimated her opponent, and now she would face the consequences.
