Chapter 289: The Coronation Ceremony II
Chapter 289: The Coronation Ceremony II
Three days later, the coronation day finally arrived as people flooded to the capital of Agoria. Under the guidance of the newly formed police unit of Vivian and the black-armored men, thousands of commoners, who had gone through a screening process conducted by Arrora's unit and Joel's spies, gathered around in the yard, waiting for the coronation in excitement.
The streets decorated with balloons and lights beyond the Capital were swarmed with people. Apparently, people's craze was not quenched by the snow.
The castle was also temporarily altered due to the upcoming ceremony. The coronation stage was surrounded by fences and the audience would have a full view of the whole ceremony once they walked up the slope of the Capital.
There were black clothes hanging on each side of the castle and the stage from above and stretched across the whole building.
The biggest highlight was obviously the square at the capital's center where the coronation ceremony would be held. No doubt, the king was going to receive blessings from his subjects hereafter the coronation.
While the commoners were celebrating outside, people inside the castle were busy with the preparation work.
On the other hand, people inside the castle were busy with the preparation work.
"Your Majesty, are you ready?" Ken's voice popped up outside the bedroom.
"All the subjects and guests are waiting for you."
"Give me a minute" Don replied and looked at his reflection in the mirror. As he liked, his robes were black tailored with metal plates, flexible leather, and scales of Reghys. There were lines of silver metal-edged onto the robes as a long black cape started from the back of his neck and ended at his feet. The black ceremonial robe was neither too tight nor too loose but perfectly fit his body and showed his muscularity outside without making him look like a muscle mountain.
After checking his robe, he looked at the other reflection as he turned around to the girl in a white dress and asked, "Are you alright?"
" I'm still a bit nervous, the ceremonies are a perfect place for an assassination" The girl was no one else but Arrora. She peered down at the crowd surrounding the square through the curtain, apparently unnerved by the frenzy down there.
"Relax, Knight had already made sure everything is in place. Besides, I'm fully healed now "
He sheathed his trusty black sword into his scabbard and said.
"I know but still, I'm worried though im trying not to"
He realized that Arrora was not as fearless as he thought. Although she was smiling, she was still worried and lost upon such a big event. He knew she was right about this being a perfect place to assassinate someone. A lot of crowds provided the cover for the assassin as they could mingle with the crowd and try to kill him. However, he trusted his people, especially Knight when it comes to the security of this event.
He gently brushed her face and said softly, "do you want me to cancel the event?"
"No, of course not, stop joking around" she shook her head. "I'm just..."
He wrapped his arms around her and said, "this is just a small event, we'll crown the queen of Everlight with a much bigger grandeur ceremony"
"Haha." She burst into laughter. "First you have to ask me to marry you, your majesty"
"I will"
"You better" She pounded his shoulder, then reached out her hand and corrected his hair, "perfect, now we can go"
He grasped her hand tightly and replied, "yes"
The couple pushed the door open, walked across the hallway, down the stairs, and into the hall on the ground floor. The hall instantly fell silent. People automatically made way for the pair while bowing their heads.
"There you are, I thought you forgot your ceremony"
Don saw Knight coming towards him with a wide grin on his face.
"Is that my clothes?"
Except for the golden hair, Knight looked very similar to Don wearing his iconic black armor and shadow blades.
"Its mine now, hahaha"
Don patted on Knight's back.
He then glanced at the people closest to him on his right side as he proceeded. He saw Arwen, Amaryll, Stodemar, Reghys, Benedict, Ken, Hagu, and his group, Elrond, Vivian, Nicolas, Lia, Ukita, Nanbu, Kayako, Uncle Dior, and Joel. Everyone in the castle had become a family to him and Knight and from today, they would no longer have to wear masks to hide their identity.
"On to the stage"
With everyone behind him, he started to walk towards the stage outside.
"King Don!"
"King Don!"
"King Don!"
The moment the castle's doors opened, the people erupted into cheers as they shouted as loud as they could when they saw him. The atmosphere and the kingdom before him was a completely different one compared to eight months ago when he came to Agoria.
Under the thunderous roars of the people, he walked to the stage while occasionally nodding at the children and youngsters who were wearing costumes to look like him.
"Oh look, little Don, how cute!"
Amaryll laughed and pointed at the little kids in back armor as they reached the stage. Arwen was also quite amused to see the people who dressed like him and had a wooden bow in their hands. He smiled at them and ruffled the kids holding the bow with a smile while walking towards the stage.
On the stage stood the ex nobles, Lord Clemo, Yvonne, Princess Amber, King Edward, Queen Sienna, Prince Rodrigo, and a few other unfamiliar faces. Just as he expected, only King Edward and Queen Sienna attended the ceremony while Prince Rodrigo's appearance slightly surprised him, especially after Arwen's little fight in Mairis.
"King Don"
"King Edward, Queen Sienna, Princess Amber"
On the stage, Don walked towards King Edward, Queen Sienna, and Princess Amber and shook their hands.
"Quite a crowd!"
Because of the crowds cheering, King Edward had to shout for him to hear.
"Yes"
Then he looked at the nobles and Prince Rodrigo
"Prince Rodrigo"
His voice was amplified by battle energy so even though he spoke silently, his voice directly reached their ears.
"King Don, my father couldn't attend the ceremony due to some personal matter, so you stuck with me"
"You look hot!"
Yvonne stepped forward and said before Don could answer Rodrigo.
"You look nice"
He replied Yvonne as Lord Clemo came running to break their meeting to remember Don the auspicious time.
"Your majesty,"
"Go, King Don, we can talk afterward"
King Edward gestured at Don to proceed with the ceremony as he nodded and followed Lord Cleom to the center of the square, where stood a stone table with the crown on it.
While he was following Lord Clemo, he noticed his slightly trembling and sweating, even in a cold climate such as this.
"Lord Clemo, just relax"
Two days, Don was presented with the problem of choosing a ceremonial officer who would crowd the king in the ceremony. Initially, he wanted to choose Ken but according to Ukita, the office had to be a well-known person among the people and old and experienced enough to be a ceremonial office. Considering, Lord Clemo was not a bad person and he worked hard under his rule loyally, he decided to give this honor to Lord Clemo.
It was the first time in the history of Agoria for someone outside the royal family to crown a king.
Lord Clemo was certainly opposed to his suggestion at first but after realizing the importance and honor of crowning the king, he accepted the role without reluctance. Yet, Clemo couldn't be as calm as Don on the stage, in front of all the people.
"Yes, your majesty"
Looking at the crown, Clemo took a deep breath and picked up the crown as the crowd again roared Don's name.
Don bent down and allowed Clemo to crown him, and then he gently patted Clemo on the shoulder.
When he turned around to look at the people, everybody knelt down.
"Long live our king!"
"Long live King Don!"
At this moment, not only in Agoria but also in Emir and Everlight, the thunderous roar of the people echoed through the kingdom.
In the cheers of the crowd, he walked to the front of the stage. There was an eruption of noises below. Without waiting for him to raise his hand to wave, a deafening cheer flooded over him.
"Long live King Don!"
"Long live the king!"
Boom!
Boom!
Even in a day sky, the color full fireworks burst in the sky and painted it with sparkles.
"Beautiful!"
Princess Amber looked up at the sky to see the sparkles forming two words, King Don, in the sky.
On the other hand, the earth-shattering cheers of the people were just as loud as the fireworks. For a moment, nobody seemed to care about the flurries of snow anymore. On this day, on this moment, there was nothing but joy in the hearts of the people and the burning hope for their bright future under the King who came from nowhere. Even the people in Ishikara who were looking at the scene through the mirrors wanted to see what made the people of Emir and Agoria this much happier.
Just as the fireworks stopped, the cannons mounted at the castle also produced thunderous roars. There, on the border of the Moon empire and the rank 4 region, rose the new King of Everlight.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!
