Chapter 662 This Wasn't How It's Supposed To Go
Damien immediately disappeared from where he was, using his inhuman speed and reflexes to dodge the black tendrils that were about to trap him.
He had no idea what exactly those black vines would do to him, but he had a feeling that he shouldn't stay still and find out.
His first instinct was to leave the room but right when he looked at the exit, he saw that it was blocked by these black tendrils as they overlapped each other to form a sturdy wall-like structure.
Still, he didn't give up, and his next thought was to fly out through the roof, but when he looked up, he saw these black tendrils were covering the roof as well as if waiting for him to come toward them.
"Shit!" Damien felt as if these black tendrils had him trapped inside this hall and he had no idea how to escape without letting these tendrils catch him.
All he could do was keep running within the hall to dodge these black tendrils that were still following him like homing missiles.
"You two have any idea how to get out of this problematic situation?" Damien asked in a hurry while running. He knew he couldn't run forever like this and these black tendrils seemed to be coming from every side. It would only be a matter of time before these things trap him.
Damien also realized that the black veins running over the floors were probably the very thing that was destroying the lands outside.
"Master…" Kalypso was biting her finger, feeling anxious and worried about Damien being trapped here. She couldn't think of a way for Damien to escape these black tendrils.
She also knew that if these tendrils were to get hold of Damien, they would probably drain all the life in Damien's body till he becomes nothing more than a corpse. She didn't say this since she didn't want to make him panic or distract him while he was busy dodging these things.
"Just let yourself get caught," Luna suddenly said as she looked at what was going on with a narrowed gaze.
"What?!" Damien asked in a bewildered tone, wondering if Luna was messing with him even in such a situation.
Kalypso was also startled by her sudden statement and immediately said in a piqued tone, "Stupid goddess, are you trying to kill my Master?? You should know that those things will—"
"Drain and suck out all life from your Master's body. Even a damn kid knows that," Luna said with a casual wave of her hand, though Damien blinked his eyes hearing that. He kind of expected these tendrils to be bad news, but hearing Luna, he felt he was right to be so wary of them.
Luna continued, "But as his servant and as a spirit from the Nether dimension, did you forget the Origin Seed in his ethereal core? It is literally the strongest thing to exist in the Nether dimension. So some silly black egg or these tendrils can't surely destroy it."
"I obviously know that. But Master is a—"
"Mortal. So? He is no ordinary mortal. The Origin Seed is the soul of his ethereal core. And the reason these things seem so interested in him is because of the nethereal energy in his body. They want to take that along with his life as well to nurture that egg. But if I am right, he can use it to his advantage by—"
"Using my Origin Seed to absorb the nethereal energy from these things?" Damien completed her sentence while still running.
"Good boy. Somebody is growing more brain cells," Luna said with a proud smile.
Kalypso had a baffled look as she said, "Wait, wait. Something doesn't feel right about this. Whatever thing is growing inside the egg is stronger than Damien, and surely these tendrils—"
Luna said with a certain confidence, "The tendrils might look scary, but they are in a weak state now. I can sense its essence. They are mostly busy nurturing that egg while the rest of their efforts are focused on protecting the egg. Damien should be able to overwhelm them with his Origin Seed. You felt it when you touched the ground earlier, right, Damien?"
Damien remembered the moment when he felt the power in his body being amped the moment he touched the ground and the tingling sensation in his chest. It was like his Origin Seed had come across its favorite food and couldn't wait to suck it all like a black hole.
"Fuck it! Here goes nothing!" Damien decided to take a leap of faith as he stopped running.
"Master, noooo!!" Kalypso worriedly called out as she unconsciously transformed into her Crimson Death form, ready to go and save him.
She couldn't understand why Damien would easily listen to whatever Luna said, no matter how preposterous they were. Did he have that much faith and trust in her? For some reason, she couldn't help but feel a bit envious of her.
"Relax, little spirit. Don't do anything yet," Luna instructed as Kalypso unconsciously stopped herself from going out. She had no idea why she was listening to Luna's instructions but the calm and cool way Luna said it made her stop.
Damien braced himself as he saw these creepy black tendrils immediately wrap around him and strapped him to a wall, his limbs restrained.
"Ugghhh…" Damien had his eyes widen when a couple of these black tendrils dug into his flesh, especially his limbs, burrowing into it like some nasty worms. His body was supposed to be as tough as steel, yet these tendrils seemed to not face much trouble in making their way in.
These tendrils weren't that thick, yet their pointy ends were like blades, and before he knew it, they began to suck his energy. And once all the energy in his ethereal core runs out, they would surely suck out his life.
'What the hell…This wasn't how it's supposed to go…' Damien thought as he coughed out blood while wondering if Luna was wrong.
