Chapter 658 Just A Glimpse
Chapter 658 Just A Glimpse
The Lancaster Emperor's expression became difficult as he looked up, "Damien…I know what you are trying to say, but…There really isn't much time. I don't even know if we will last another month. By that time, the public might even know everything. And without me saying it, you must already know doing things at the last moment is a very bad idea. There is no way you can stop it. This is something bigger than what all of us can handle together. Otherwise, don't you think I would have tried to find some solution with all the experts in my empire? The last thing I want is to let anything happen to my empire."
Damien and his women looked at each other with a complicated look, wondering how they could convince the Lancaster Emperor. They knew that since he was an emperor, he couldn't just make decisions for only himself but for his subjects as well. So telling him to hold off without any guarantees would just be irresponsible on their part.
From that perspective, opening the gates seemed like a better idea than waiting here to die, even if it means having to work with an unpleasant person.
"Your Majesty, when does Ruthren plan to open the gate?" Yuria asked.
"Before, he said it would be at least a month from now on. But now…he is being vague about it while telling me there is nothing like the right time and that he will inform me when it's time. All he said was that it would be soon, and now I can't even reach him," The Lancaster Emperor said with a head shake.
Damien had a contemplative look on his face. He thought that since Daugmir was behind bars, there was no way Ruthren could open the gate without Daugmir. So even if the Lancaster Emperor doesn't agree, things might still be okay, but Damien didn't feel like leaving anything to chance and wanted to make sure of things.
"Damien, with your speed, you can surely take a quick look at what is happening, right?" Reva asked as Damien turned towards her.
He nodded, "Yeah…I probably can."
"Wait…are you two being serious? This is very risky. Damien can get caught. Ruthren has those areas heavily guarded, especially since he doesn't want any problems to come up. I know you are no ordinary junior, but you are still at the first level of the Heaven Ethereal Realm. But there are even Profound Ethereal Realm cultivators out there even though it's not many," The Lancaster Emperor warned.
But even though he said this, the Lancaster Emperor was inwardly astonished at seeing how quickly this young man jumped into the Heaven Ethereal Realm since he last saw him. It hadn't even been more than a month, and he had already jumped into the higher realm.
He really had to wonder if Damien was even human to achieve such progress, and as an emperor, he was ashamed to feel envious of a junior.
"I will be fine, Your Majesty. The last time I even gave chase to Ruthren, and this time I am surely faster than I ever was. Anyway, all I need is just a glimpse, and maybe I can find out what Ruthren is really up to," Damien said.
The Lancaster Emperor narrowed his eyes as he remembered that fact, even though he still found it hard to process. But since it was true, there was really nobody on the central lands that could capture Damien. So he nodded to let him try and see.
"Then we will wait here for you. You will come back quickly, right?" Lily asked with worry in her eyes. She didn't like the idea of Damien venturing near lots of soldiers, but at this time, it was necessary.
"Yeah. See you all soon," Damien nodded as his figure immediately vanished from the spot. Even though it looked like he teleported, he actually was speeding away at an inhuman speed, leaving behind only traces of jet black streaks.
"Haa…I still can't believe it…Someone I haven't even heard of two years ago is now already powerful enough to even stand up to peak experts of our continent. So…till he returns, why don't you all tell me about why you chose Damien," The Lancaster Emperor asked in a friendly manner.
Meanwhile, Damien had reached the central lands shortly after, only to suddenly feel the aura of death in the air.
He obviously saw hundreds of guards around this region, but all of them were standing on the border of the affected areas. Not even one of them was standing within the affected areas, which made him remember the Lancaster Emperor saying that not even he could bear to stand within the area for more than a few minutes.
This made Damien decide to go in to take a good look without having to worry about getting caught.
However, the aura of death in this area was causing tingling sensations in his chest, especially because his Origin Seed could recognize this aura and even connect with it at some point.
The air was very chilly, while the surroundings gave off a dark, gloomy look. But what caught Damien's eyes was the previously fresh land turned into a blackish color with all the plants and grass rotten and decayed.
He could even see the smelly carcasses of animals here and there, and even the ethereal energy in this area seemed too heavy and repulsive to the point no ordinary cultivator could stand here for even a few seconds.
"Luna, any idea what is going on with these lands?" Damien asked as he stopped in the middle. He wasn't worried about getting caught since all the guards on the border were only keeping watch for anyone who might try to enter but not anyone inside since no one was supposed to be inside.
"Aren't you the one who has comprehended a tiny bit of Death Laws? Why don't you touch the land and see what you feel?" Luna said casually.
