Chapter 35: The invasion

Chapter 35: The invasion

It's been six days after the incident, and in the time that I've spent, I managed to investigate the ten marked facilities. I got a lead on their next move after my last investigation it looks like they were gathering outdated machinery and some dangerous chemicals with the help of Remembrance I predicted the next place their going

[Story quest: Search and destroy, you've found the secret hidden from the public. Searched the abandoned facility that was marked

Requirements:

Investigate the marked facility for anything unusual: 10/10

Apprehend a follower of the Mad Alchemist. we need to catch a person who's related to their plans

Failure: 10 days. If you can't finish the mission in 10 days it'll automatically be a failure you'll face a contribution point drop]

[Direct message to Humble caretaker

Benevolent sage: Blake do you know where Hugo's room at? I heard that you guys are staying at the workshop for the selection process

Humble caretaker: Yes, I just had a meal with them... They asked me if I could make some potions for them

Benevolent sage: For free?

Humble caretaker: Of course, why would I not it's a duty of an apothecary to help the ones in need

Benevolent sage: Do you know what rooms are they staying in?

Humble caretaker: Yes I was even invited before, it's room 335 the girls are in room 210 is there something wrong? You're acting a little bit strange

Benevolent sage: For now just listen to my orders whatever happens don't sleep. Check every area around you and the three of you prepare for what's to come. I've been having some worries that the mad alchemist will strike at the workshop

Humble caretaker: I'll call the two of them immediately and Mr. Morris

Benevolent sage: What?

Humble caretaker: Don't push yourself to your breaking point. I'm not telling you this as a doctor but rather as your teammate, I've seen a lot of players like you. You're the type of person that always tries to handle things on their own

Benevolent sage: Will do, and remember kill anyone that tries to open your door. Don't even hesitate, tonight is going to be a big and unforgettable moment for you and the other players]

[System: the Direct message has been ended]

[That deity scum to think that he had the nerve to fight back after we just reported him]

"I have a feeling that you're going to use this chance to give me another mission," When he finishes his chat with Blake he jumps from one rooftop to another and traverses the rainy evening

[It's still early for that I had a lot of fun when you tried to blow yourself up... What kind of person would do that if not for a lunatic kehahahahaha. Also, how are you going to solve this problem? You said that this person you're facing knows something about the future as well. Why would he try to change the outcome?]

'I wish I know the answer as well, I don't know why there are some people that like to mess with my story. Their next target is the workshop, most of the facilities that had any signs of a break-in were related to one thing and that's alchemy. First was the abandoned workshop, the second and third were a storage that contained harmful monster drops. The fourth one was a place filled with broken equipment that was beyond repair. I can't forget Blake's last message before I leave, their mission was a selection for the mercenary role. The participants are at 100+ it's too connected, there are only a few numbers that can gain that role,'

'Sun, Moon I need you to get out we need to prepare for everything,'

When he was preparing every single item on his inventory, he called out to his familiars. They answered his call and came out of his chest and woke the two in their deep slumber. They followed his command and the three of them runs toward the workshop

"Owner, it's raining, I don't want to get my fur all wet. Can't we just appear when you need us?" Sun continuously waves her head back and forth in an attempt to shake the rain falling from her body

'I'm not asking this is an order the moment we stepped into the workshop there will be a fight,'

"Are you sure that it would occur?" Moon yawns whilst he acts more discipline compared to his counterpart

'I'm sure those alchemist bastards aren't something that would miss the perfect opportunity to strike. It's a rainy day it'll be a lot harder to fight against them if they make a mist that's spiked with their potions. If you don't listen to my commands I'll stop giving you my mana and spend your lives looking for food,'

"Fine, wipe our fur once we get inside," Sun and Moon hid around the bushes whilst he came forward to the gates of the workshop

"Excuse me, hi Christoper Morris im a member of the shadow institute... The institution is an undercover organization that protects the world. I'm kinda like the men in black, I'm here to see the apothecary, it's pretty urgent like the end of this trial urgent," He said after he stopped in his tracks and stared awkwardly at the guards

"We've been waiting for your arrival follow us," The guard escorted him and when they turn their backs he shoots Shock and instantly kills the guards without a single sweat

[System: You've killed a player, the collected experience will now be given]

[Why did you kill them aren't they going to help you? I know that you have a habit of killing but this is not the time~]

"I'm a member of the shadow institute do you think anyone knows me? Do you think these groups of assassins go about their daily life saying hey im an undercover killer? I kill people but most of the ones I killed are corrupt and downright crazy for blood. These guys are lower-ranking followers of the alchemist, the raid has begun," He said while his appraisal confirmed his guess

[Appraisal: Poisonous Mist has been detected

Status: You've entered a field filled with poisonous airborne chemicals spread by a few hostile players]

"Sun, Moon I need the two of you to find Blake and the others, I'll be heading in a different direction," He puts on his mask and he was later met with a ton of enemies that were surrounding him

[Well, is this a warm welcome, look they even brought you a ton of exp!!! You're one lucky fella Morris, in my time they would just place a hitman on me. Your enemies are so thoughtful these exp are so many... Let's kill them without leaving anyone behind]

"Yeah I need to get some experience killing a person at least I have to get used to it," He appraised every single player before he makes his first move

[Appraisal: Multiple players with the intent to kill are detected!!!

Rankings: Low tier theirs not a single one that met the user's condition all of them are now branded as exp. Anything that the player brand as exp is considered as food to nurture and grow his level. It's confirmed you can now kill every single one of them to your heart's content]

"What are you waiting for kill this bastard!!!"

With no plans or a strategy for their next move, they were swept away by a massive wave knocking most of their group. When they try to recover from the attack, Morris freezes the wave until it became a cage of ice

"There's a saying about this, just because you guys are many doesn't mean you can get cocky. I'm not some sort of protagonist in an action pack block buster with a plot armor, im just a guy using his brains. You should learn from me, next time don't group up with the rest, you don't know if the player has any crowd control skills!!!" He rushes forward and slices their limbs one after another and their blood splattered on his clothes

He continued to kill them without any problems he's feelings played a big part he was rageful. He was confused about why his readers choose to ruin his plot and because of that, he couldn't hear their cries for help. He killed all of them on the cold rainy evening and the drops slowly cleans the blood on his body

"Guess the rain is truly a friend for a killer, the drops of liquid that wash away the stains of blood. The killer runs away from the scene, cleansed with the rain he looked like none other than a civilian." After his massacre, he searched the player's corpses for anything useful such as their items and whatnot

[Aren't you a Seer? How come you sound like a poetic person]

"Poetic... I don't think I sound poetic in any sort of way... You should check your ears or ask another person. There's nothing poetic about those things I've said," He continued his search after his appraisal made sure of the death of every player in his sight

'I need some extra hands... Mirage search the corpses, even if their lower-ranking they might have been spiked with any of the mad alchemist's chemicals. I won't let him do as he pleased, still, I wonder who became the avatar of that lunatic,'

Before he could find anything inside their bodies, a figure appeared in front of him that threw a canister at the corpses. It agitated the once-dead players and triggered something inside their bodies. With the effects of the canister, they slowly turned into a homunculus

"Member of the shadow institution, this will be the day of your death... I won't let you get in my master's way,"

[System: You've met an important character [Seper Alinea] the disciple of the mad alchemist]

[Story quest: Mercenary selection has been activated, survived the assault of the mad alchemist

Requirements: 12 hours later/Till morning arrives]
