Chapter 29: Familiars [3]

Chapter 29: Familiars [3]

Dungeons they're like trials, the difference is that they act by their own rules. The system or even the Gm's wasn't able to uncover its mysteries. Respawns that the trials can do, even materializing a monster classified as a Boss-level threat, and so on. The mystery that they can't answer is simple the dungeons, are the manifestation of negative energy. Fear, hatred, and agony, also death play a big part in a dungeon manifestation. They trap the souls of the ones that died, feeding on their regrets and sadness for all eternity

"Earth array, Construct a pillar," He activated his skill and reshaped the stones around him into a pillar. His reader Hyunsu used this as a tower to strike down the monsters in a safe place

[Appraisal: Multiple enemies detected Fifteen LVL 13, Ten LVL 9, and 16 LVL 8]

'Some of them, are hiding their presence...? Too bad, that I have to do this, first-tier magic water attribute spell, mana amplification, Wave!!!'

[System: The player Christoper Morris has activated the skill called [Wave]: A water attribute spell in a form of an orb if thrown it'll summon a wave. The excess mana has been seen as a means to amplify the spell!!]

He unleashed a gigantic wave that appeared as a ball of water until he threw it at the dungeon dwellers. It pushed their enemies away from the newly built pillar and flooded the entire room. He finishes with his lightning attribute spell known as Shock, which traveled through the entire stage and was paralyzed. They'll soon meet their end at the hands of Hyunsu's arrow

[System: The Familiar Sun and Moon have killed a monster, the collected experience will now be given... We would like to inform you that they leveled up!!]

'You gotta be kidding me? I made them kill hundreds of monsters and they're at LVL 2? Why can't the system help me for once I could die at any moment. After I arrive at the safe zone I might get recruited to a guild and bam someone slit my throat. Maybe I got relentlessly stabbed to death? The worst part is when they force-fed me a ton of cinnamon without giving me a glass of water. Pure evil I tell you!! I'll choke to death before I could see my life flash before my life,'

"Owner, I'm wet do you have a blanket?" Sun hung on the back of his robe. Moments later, he sees Moon completely drenched near the pool of water he created. He was scared to move away from his position when he witness his life flashing through his eyes. He almost got swept away in Morris's attack

After Hyunsu gave him the signal, Morris manipulated the stones near him and formed a deep hole. All of the unnecessary water exited the stage, and the floor was back to its original form. Once that was concluded, he placed his familiars inside a blanket where he rubbed their fur. He kept on rubbing until they emerge as nothing more than a ball of fluff

"I'd like to ask why did you bring me here in the first place? You don't look like you're having any kind of problem," Hyunsu collected any reusable arrows from the corpses of the dungeon dweller

"I planned to interrogate you through a series of physical and mental torture. That's what was supposed to happen, your pretty lucky since it got postponed. My familiars found a clue relating to the mad alchemist. There's a chance that it's connected to the change of difficulty," He uttered those words whilst he browses the statuses of his familiar

'They can't die but when their Hp hit zero it will take a long time before I could call them out. Let's increase Moon's Hp by 10 and 5 at Atk and Spd. For Sun let's give her 15 on Spd for mobility and 5 on Def,'

[System: Stat placement has been applied your familiars will now gain the stats you added in their body]

"Spell thief, can you tell me what's your goal in the world of trial? You do know that If you interfere with the plot you'll trigger an anomaly? An unpredictable dilemma that isn't written in the book?" Hyunsu warned him about the dangers of interfering. He said all of this whilst he browses his downloaded chapters of the world of trials

"You're asking the wrong person, I'm the one who's trying to prevent our end I met with the mc. I protected his teammates there was a part of the book where one of them died even if they survive nothing will change. I'm looking out for the mc if he dies then all of us are dead. My familiars are somewhat related to the main antagonist of this trial. They told me they sense something inside this dungeon," He throw a quiver filled with arrows that he bought from the system as a gift to his temporary ally

"You're giving me this?" Hyunsu was a little too cautious about his way of helping, he was too quiet. If their topic wasn't important he wouldn't speak a single word

Quiet as he may be, Morris was considerate enough to give Hyunsu the impression that he was hostile toward strangers. He was unwilling to open up, making him a loner that despised everyone

The next stage they entered was filled with monsters that specialize in their incredible hearing. Later he found out using his appraisal once they entered this dark yet silent room

"Hey if you're~~~," Hyunsu got kicked out before he sees an illuminating light land on his previous location

The light near his location gradually decreases and revealed the blinding light's true nature. It was a monster that relies on its sense of hearing, and because of that, the two of them kept their mouths shut

[System: You've entered stage 4 [Lair of the illuminates]: A map filled with monsters that are completely dependent on their incredible sense of hearing to catch their prey]

'How many are they? I can't see anything except those lights I can't rely on what I visibly see. Let's use my appraisal?'

[Appraisal: Multiple enemies detected twenty LVL 12, five LVL 18, and twelve LVL 8]

The two of them were stuck in a situation where they can only rely on some simple hand sign that anyone could understand. They took their time to collect their thoughts before they made their move and walk close to one another. They entered this stage with not a single flicker of light to be seen except for the ones emitted by the monsters. The design made it clear that there was a reason why the fourth stage was dark

'What's that hand sign? Let's look at it closely, ok he's showing me his arm and swinging it? Now he attacks his other arm? He's trying to beat up an imaginary enemy? Does he want to fight them? We're gonna die!!'

After he sees Hyunsu nod in his plans, he told him to crouch down when he starts to use Earth array. The constant shake of the ground confuses their enemies about where the current whereabouts. Tormented and annoyed the monster's body started flickering and they used it against them

Hyunsu shoots the enemies from afar while Morris, on the other hand, used Wave and throws it to the light before he activates Shock. His familiars took the finishing blow after their long and tiring fight in the dark was concluded. They were visited by light in the middle of the stage and heard about the systems message

[System: You've completed stage 4!!! You can now proceed to the final stage]

"Finally!! After five hours of fighting," Hyunsu takes a deep long breath after their present matter has come to pass

"What's wrong? Why aren't you celebrating we're almost at the exit," Morris said with a joyous tone that sounded like a mockery in his reader's ear

They entered the final stage, Hyunsu can't shake off his fear of facing a monster that would've needed a ton of players to kill. However, they were met with nothing but an empty stage. Not a single sight of the boss-level threat monster to be seen? It was strange until he remembered what Morris had anticipated

"I get it now, this has been cleared!!? I forgot that you can't repeat the boss battle once it's over," Hyunsu sighed in relief after his realization

"Aren't you forgetting the most important part? Whenever a dungeon is cleared the players can take the core. In doing so it'll release the shackled spirits as well as extra profit which is weird why no one took the damn core. Unless they turned this into a secret lair, are you following my theory?" Morris quickly cast Ignite and burns every piece of cloth inside the stage which reveals a secret hole

'It's like he knows everything was Spell thief nim telling the truth? Is he really the author? No way!! It can't be, if he is why is he behaving like he's unfamiliar with this world? If he's the author then he would've all the answers by now,'

Unfortunately, Hyunsu overestimated Morris's capability as a writer. He was unknown of the dangers outside the reach of his book. He survived with only his wits in a place that can kill anyone by only making a single mistake

[System: You've entered the mad alchemist's secret lab]

'This guy is a natural!! This is so clean I can compare this to a teenager's browser history there's not a single thing that's out of place. There's some research that I can't understand and some canister lying around the whole room. Wait what's this? It's a magic ball meant for recording? I wonder what's inside,'

Before he could open the recordings the two of them heard a noise from the stage it was none other than Denio alphas. He entered the final stage only to see everything was out of order, even the cloth he used to decorate the place was burned down to the ground. The entrance of his lab entrance was compromised as soon as he came to notice the flames

"It seems like a rat has entered my lair I need to teach you some manners," Deniro ran through his lab where he sees two robed figures that were holding a few canisters filled with monster evo gas

They weren't a match for Deniro or was it even a fight, to begin with? The two of them launched a ton of spells, only for it to be unaffected by their attacks. One of them tried to push Deniro away to let the other one escape before Igniting his entire body along with the alchemist

Before it could do so, Deniro countered by redirecting his enemy's flow of mana which reversed the flow. This resulted in the person activating his spell within his body and burning away till its death. He goes out to pursue the other one that was running towards the exit that got his chest impaled by Deniro

"Bluargh, The apothecary sends his regards," The person said while he did the same as his ally. He exploded his body in an attempt to injure the alchemist though Deniro was unaffected

The explosion revealed his hideous body that was transformed into a chimera. His body was filled with a bunch of traits from a variety of different races. This included his scales that could endure the hottest temperature

He won the war but loses their battle. He came to realize that he was fooled. The dungeon core was removed which sends Morris and Hyunsu out of harm's way and Deniro was trapped inside the dungeon
