69 Chapter 69
*Fwoosh!*
Strong gales of wind burst throughout the city as the storm raged on, the floods and puddles were only growing as barely any form of sunlight struggled to penetrate through the dark clouds.
In this situation a duo of individuals, a quiet young man wearing the mask of a smiling ogre and a charming girl whose hair was a luminous shade of orange with the edges being a bright red.
With crimson red eyes and cloaks covering their bodies could be seen crouched on top of one of the tallest buildings in Knightsbridge, staring at the figure of a young man plummeting down a building before them.
The young man hadn't yet noticed them as they had masked their presence.
*BURST!*
They watched as the young man kicked off the building and propelled himself towards the next building before parkouring his way towards the superstore just down the road.
"..."
The girl kept her eyes on him with an intrigued and curious look whereas the young man wearing the smiling ogre mask glared at him with hostility.
"Even though he's wearing a cloak, I got to see it... Silver and black hair. Isn't that the rumoured Devourer?"
Ever since Xavier had left the Vampire Camp, small rumours had spread of what had gone down like flies on a corpse even despite them being in a war.
The rumours talked about a young man with silver and black hair called the Devourer. The one who devours all.
On his own, he took on an entire formation of Vampires which had surrounded him, killing them and devouring the blood from their corpses as he fought.
For every kill, he'd devour as if his stomach had no depth to it.
'It was quite the terrifying rumour.' Thought the girl to herself with a smile.
The Devourer was put on the kill on sight list and had a bounty on his head by the family of the nobles he had killed. They were infuriated, and wanted his head.
With all being said, the rumours were still rather small. There were many other more important things going on for anyone to focus on tiny rumours such as those. Expansion was taking most of the Vampire's main forces as the stronger humans had started to fight back.
Therefore only the Family of the Nobles who were killed and those out for an easy bounty were the only ones out for Xavier.
Because of the war however, not much was being done to Xavier as of now, the Vampires main forces were all focused on expanding their territory and destroying the enemies.
"...Are we after his bounty?" The man with the ogre mask asked coldly.
His voice was dark and deep, his tall and muscular figure hiding behind the cloak seemed to be itching for a fight.
"..Hm..."
The girl took a few moments to think, putting her fingers on her temples as she did so.
"He really is a Vampire... I wonder why he's attacking Vampires?"
She let out a sigh with a smile before looking over at the Vampire with the ogre mask.
"Who cares? We've never minded the details before, have we? Are you ready to fight?" She asked.
The young man with the ogre mask, slightly moved his hooded cloak, displaying the two swords on his waist in response.
A strong wind blew by forcing her hair to sway to the sides with the raindrops crashing against them.
"Guess there was no need to ask." Said the girl as she smiled.

Sneaking across the cars while masking his presence from the ghoul's on the parking lot view, a dejected look spread across Xavier's face as he looked down.
Beneath him was a stream of water which went all the way up to his ankles, the city was slowly flooding.
'Ah... Fuck... My socks are wet... And I'm freezing.' He shivered.
Xavier had worn plain boots for this reason, but it appears that all the movement had resulted in the outcome he least desired.
"Wait... I'm freezing? Aren't Vampires immune to the cold in movies or something?" Xavier questioned.
Xavier facepalmed himself at the fact that it had taken him ages to notice this fact. Truly, now that his mother and sister were confirmed to be safe, Xavier was seeing the world in a much broader view.
Once this fact sunk in, he stopped for a moment before inhaling a deep breath and exhaling it.
He then looked over at his hand and palm for a few seconds before closing it into a fist.
"I'm still alive..."
in that moment, just as he was about to smile, the figure of his smiling father popped up into his mind, instantly wiping the smile away.
"I've avenged him... So why does it still hurt?" Xavier asked as his eyes grew colder.
Xavier's thoughts were drowned away by the sound of the rain crashing against the water around him whilst he looked up at the clouds.
'I wonder what happens to normal people when they die...? Do they go to heaven...?'
He then looked down at the ground.
'Or...'
*SPLASH!*
The sound of a loud splash resounded from behind Xavier, interrupting his thoughts. The figure of a ghoul who had heard his voice had lunged at him.
There was not a change in Xavier's expression despite that, for he'd already heard the ghoul coming.
[Rewind Level 2: Retract.]
*CHOMP!*
The ghoul's eyes widened as just as he was about to bite down on Xavier's neck, his figure disappeared, forcing him to bite down into thin air in the process.
"Small fries just keep coming one after another..."
The Ghoul's eyes widened, as it heard Xavier's voice coming from behind it.
*SPLASSSH!*
Even more water splashed around as the ghoul's figure went sliding down. While doing so, it quickly turned towards Xavier with a growl, ready to lunge again.
Right as it leapt off the ground, it's eyes widened, it noticed something off. It's head had been detached from it's body.
Confusion. When was it cut? The ghoul neither felt nor saw it. Xavier's blade. It hadn't even been drawn in the first place.
[You have killed a ghoul!]
[+20 XP!]
"Great, it splashed more water on me." Xavier complained before sheathing his sword and walking towards the superstore's entrance.
The ghoul's head which had been severed off its neck, floating on top of the flood, staring at Xavier's back with its lifeless eyes before being carried away by the current.
"How much longer is it going to rain for? I might catch a cold at this rate." Muttered Xavier.
[That is highly unlikely.]
"Oh, you're speaking to me again. That's a surprise."
[The User is the one who stopped inquiring questions.]
'Did I? Oh well. The scent of blood is thick around here. Let's go inside.' Said Xavier as he stood by the superstore's entrance.
