14 Chapter 14
Her curvy, petite figure was beautifully brought to light by the moonlight reflecting off her long, silky silver hair. A pair of pointed ears poked out of her hair, while small, sharp teeth protruded from her mouth.
Her slit-pupil eyes glowed a bright red crimson.
He found himself paralyzed by her stare, unable to move a muscle as if under hypnosis.
'Ah... This is...'
'That dream again...' Xavier thought to himself as she drew closer.
Bringing her fangs into closer view as she approached his face, the girl's lips slowly drew closer to his face.
'I can't move... I can't speak...'
But even still Xavier desperately tried, to get three words out. He had enough of this dream.
"W..Wh... Who are you!?"
Both the sweet scent and the adrenaline caused his heart to pound.
Without closing his eyes, he watched as she leaned in towards his neck. She was about to dig her fangs into him.
The jolt of pain didn't come, to his surprise.
An excited smile spread across her face as she muttered, "I found you*".
-
Xavier snapped his eyes open.
In an instant, he found himself in an empty corner shop filled with blood and corpses of ghouls around him.
Then there was Xavier, sitting on the ground by himself with his sword sheathed in between his arms.
Upon wincing and rubbing his eyes, he noticed a decapitated mummified corpse at the other end of the store.
It was the corpse of a vampire he had killed upon entering.
"Ah... I dozed off..." Xavier muttered as he looked down at the cup noodles in his hand.
Previously, it was scorching hot, but it was now lukewarm. The ghouls outside did not seem to enter the story since it was covered in a ghoul's blood and stench giving Xavier all the time he needed to finish.
*Growl*
"I'm hungry..." Xavier muttered before slurping on the noodles.
*Slurp* *Slurp*
Slurping, he noticed a group of ghouls whizzing by at high speeds.
Most of them, despite once being humans, now act as animals and move on all fours.
'Maybe that's why I don't feel any guilt when killing them... But what are they all doing?'
According to what Xavier knew so far, the Ghouls followed any noise they heard, but it was strange because a lot of noise was coming from the direction they were departing from.
Instead, there was a lot of noise in the city, so what was the rush?
'...Why am I wasting time worrying about what they're doing?' He asked as he scratched his head.
[Bloodline Quest: Consume blood.]
[Blood consumed: 0/1]
[Rewards: ???.]
[Failure: Become a Ghoul.]
'Is it because... I feel like I might end up becoming a ghoul?' Xavier wondered.
'Can't I just drink ghoul blood?'
[Negative, ghoul blood is poisonous to both humans and Vampires.]
[I am unaware of what would happen if the User were to drink, however if a were to drink it, they'd either turn or die.]
'...Right.'
Unfortunately, Xavier was unable to find a single human nearby. Even though he was still in Westminster and it hadn't been long since he parted with the group, he couldn't see anything.
"Fuck... maybe I should have just sucked that guy's blood right out of him instead..." Xavier mumbled to himself with food in his mouth as he remembered the face of the orange-haired young man who he had almost killed.
'Sucking blood this, sucking blood that... I really am fucked up.'
*Slurp* *Slurp*
[Daily Quest: Failed.]
The notification suddenly popped in his head as he was eating. He quickly looked over at the Quest screen beside him.
[Daily Quest:]
[0/100 Push ups: Incomplete.]
[0/100 Squats: Incomplete.]
[0/100 Sit ups: Incomplete.]
[2/2 Rewinds: Complete.]
[Rewards lost: 2 SP + 50 XP]
[Next Daily available in: 30 minutes.]
As Xavier completely forgot about it, a vein bulged on the side of his forehead.
"Two SP and fifty XP..."
After sighing, he looked down to find that the cup of noodles was almost empty.
Despite all that he had eaten, his hunger and thirst ravaged on from within him.
"Yeah... It's no use... What I need to eat and drink right now is... Blood-"
*TREMOR!*
As the entire ground trembled for a second, Xavier was interrupted.
In addition to his backpack full of supplies and water, Xavier looked outside before getting up. It looked like a hurricane had hit the city. Many of the buildings had broken windows.
Smoke filled the air, being blown away by the strong breeze and rainy storm.
In a world where nothing but monsters prowled around looking for humans to devour, Xavier couldn't help but think it was the end of the world wherever he went.
Strangely, the number of ghouls around had greatly diminished in this area.
Why?
'I have a bad feeling,' Xavier thought to himself.
He ran out of the store in a nonchalant manner. After doing so, he leapt up on to the sight before climbing up to the roof.
His vampire body was definitely more agile, faster, and lighter than before. He felt like he could accomplish anything with it.
Xavier sniffed the air as he leapt from building to building in the direction where the ghouls had escaped.
*Sniff* *Sniff*
Rain had clouded his vision and smell, making it impossible to search for humans or vampires.
Ghoul blood was poisonous, whereas vampire blood was likely safe. If Xavier had thought of this sooner, he would have drunk the blood of the vampire he killed in the store.
*Leap*
Through the corner of his eyes, Xavier caught a glimpse of something. As he came to a halt, he jumped from the top of the building to the sidewalk and glanced around.
As countless water droplets hit his face, his clothes, which had recently dried, were once again soaked.
'Did I imagine it...?'
Suddenly, he felt it.
The mark on his neck began to glow out of nowhere, causing a burning sensation.
'This is...'
Two arms suddenly rushed at him from both sides, interrupting Xavier's thoughts.
'!!!'
Due to the fact that he hadn't sensed their presence, he instantly grasped his sword handle. He was surprised, however, when the pair of hands did not attack him or cause him any pain.
It was quite the opposite, as he was put in a warm embrace.
His eyes drifted slowly over to her from the road, confused.
It was a short girl, his height with long silver hair that smelled of roses. Crimson slit red eyes which were that of a Vampire. A face whose beauty far surpassed many of the world's most famous models.
Her short, petite frame and elegantly curvy figure embraced him even more tightly as her soft cheeks rubbed against his, relishing the moment.
"Xavi~!!!" She called out joyfully as she hugged him tightly. "It's been so-"
She was forced out of the embrace by Xavier, who had finally snapped out of it. Snatching her shoulders, he forced her away.
Despite pushing her, he held on tight, gazing at her neck while he clutched her shoulders.
He was breathing heavily and raggedly.
'Fuck... What's wrong with me...? Out of nowhere my hunger just became...'
"Xavi...?" She asked with a confused look.
'Wait... This is a chance... I can drink her blood...'
As she noticed where his eyes were focused, a smile appeared on her face.
She tilted her head to the left, exposing her neck, and drew him in closer.
"You were hungry weren't you? Why didn't you just say so~?"
*Gulp*
Xavier felt as if he was being manipulated; he had no control over his urges. It greatly annoyed him.
While he was greatly agitated, he grabbed her by the neck and pinched her against the wall of the building.
In that instant, she let out a quiet squeal before looking into his crimson red eyes and fangs. Blushing, she lowered the collar of her cloak and dress, revealing her slim bare neck.
'A trap...? It's almost like she wants me to suck her blood.'
But he didn't care. The thirst, the hunger, the lust... They were all in control.
"What are you waiting for? Drink, don't be shy~"
Suddenly, Xavier leaned in and bit into her neck.
*Pierce*
The moment his fangs penetrated her, she let out a quiet moan.
"Mn..."
*Gulp* *Gulp*
The sweet intoxicating taste and aroma made it almost impossible to stop. He made sure not to spill a single drop as he sucked the seemingly endless supply.
His thirst and hunger were quickly fading, fading as he relished in the moment. His heart was pounding strongly.
Whilst he sucked the blood right out of her, she stroked the back of his head.
'What's with this... Why does it taste so good!?'
Xavier didn't want to stop... He couldn't...
"Xa...Vi... I... Isn't that enough...?"
She tried pushing him away but she was out of strength from having her blood sucked right out of her.
"If you... keep sucking... I'll di..."
Xavier snapped out of it, instantly pulling his head away before watching as the wound closed on her neck.
She panted heavily before collapsing onto his arms.
"Do you... Feel better now?" She asked with a bright smile. despite her exhausted look.
'What...? What the hell is wrong with this girl? I could have killed her, just now... So why does she... Look so happy?'
"You... Who are you...?" Xavier asked.
Her heart skipped a beat at his question.
"Eh?"
