Reverse Apocalypse: The Devil's Revenge

Chapter 73 Jennie's Awakening& Final Floor

"It's a non-combat Soultrait that helps me discover treasures much more easily," Jennie said, taking in a ragged breath while looking hopefully over to Liam.

Jennie had just finished accumulating 1000 Arcanium and she used them up to initiate the awakening of her Soultrait. For Liam and the others, it was hard to decipher that her Soul was being awoken, but the sweat that trickled down her temples and back, and the pained expression that kept her twisting and turning for close to half an hour was evidence of the pain and agony she was going through.

She kept her focus on Liam who nodded his head. He gave her a thumbs up.

"Remember that I have four picks!" Liam pointed out, which caused Jennie to press her lips together in a thin line. She had hoped for a better reaction, even if it would have been just a slight smile in her direction.

However, the reaction he gave her was too ordinary and as if he was not happy or impressed at all. Liam was actually quite satisfied, but it took a little more to make him feel happy. It was a feeling that had died within him a long time ago. Rekindling it would definitely require more than Jennie awakening a useful Soultrait, or the fact that he had to pay only a little over a hundred Arcanium to fill in the gap to buy her the Soultrait awakening, in exchange for picking four treasures that she would find in the future.

It was a win-win deal for both, though Liam knew that he benefited more in the long run.

Overall, he was quite satisfied with the progress of the group. He had to acknowledge that it was a decent idea and a fair bargain to take the natives with him rather than rejecting them or pushing them away. They were quite useful, especially in the third basement where they solved all puzzles before selling all the goods they had procured.

Ludwig was starting to hesitate to sell his finds because he was slowly amassing more Arcanium. Liam predicted that Ludwig planned to create his own Small Shop so as to make more benefits since Liam sold all goods for a pretty low price while only handing them a meagre profit of 30%. Ludwig wanted to encash all the money for himself and have a say while setting the selling price of goods he had found.

Liam didn't really mind Ludwig's plans but it was a little hard to digest Ludwig's rapid development. He was showing signs of getting too arrogant and that could turn into a big problem.

'For now, it's still fine, but I might have to kill him sooner or later,' He told himself, understanding the situation very well.

After Jennie's Soultrait awakening was over, she found a few more treasures that were very well hidden. Not even Ludwig's extraordinary control of the massive amount of Arcane Power allowed him to sense the existence of the treasures, or the small spots in which they had been hidden.

She handed everything over to Liam who sold the treasures for a decent price. Jennie might be a deadweight when it came to fighting, and survival overall, but she was definitely a golden mouse in finding treasures, now more than ever before.

'Even if the others were to leave, I should make sure that Jennie stays by my side…' Liam thought while analyzing the development of the natives thoroughly.

There were a few things he noticed but he didn't think of mentioning them for the time being.

Maybe his problems would solve themselves!

"Let's go down. A thousand Lesser Demons or more are waiting for us!" Liam said, sounding quite relaxed. There was no need to be extra worried. He was confident of defeating the Lesser Demons in the first room of the final floor. Thus, he calmly descended the helix staircase that spiraled all the way down to the final floor. It was mostly dark and hardly anyone could see anything as they made their way downward.

Liam was able to see in the dark, even better after he activated his Soultrait. The Devil's Eyes' passive effect provided a considerable improvement in the eyesight despite being surrounded by utter darkness. However, the active effect was much stronger, obviously.

The further down they walked, the better they could see. Glowing miasma filled the ground of the final floor. The Natives were afraid of the miasma because it was of a bright green color but Liam stepped through it without any worries. He took a deep breath and circulated his Arcane Power through his entire body.

'To think that the final floor is filled with something like this,' Liam marveled, feeling pretty sure that his little sister was actually a genius. He didn't really mind the miasma because it was filled with Arcane Power but the natives were unable to bear the pressure created by the surplus of Arcane Power.

They had never experienced something like this, which made it much harder for them to bear it. Of course, Ludwig was an exception to the rest of the crowd. When it came to Arcane Power, nothing could really affect him, or so it seemed at least. Ludwig stepped through the miasma confidently and a glint of excitement emerged in his eyes.

"I feel like killing all those Lesser Demons by myself!" He shouted out loudly, charging past Liam while enhancing his physical strength by circulating a large amount of Arcane Power through his body.

The consumption of his Arcane Power was further enhanced as the Black Steel Halbert was filled with it. However, Ludwig did not pay attention to that and simply gritted his teeth. He charged blindly into the horde of the Lesser Demons that had taken note of them. There were all kinds of Lesser Demons, with the majority of them being Elite Shedim and Ordinary Shedim.

There were also close to a hundred Mutant Elite Shedim and even more Canine Shedim than that.

'What a fool! He will tire out even before half of them are finished off,' Liam thought, turning around to Rex.

"Shoot your golden bolts of lightning in the most crowded areas while staying behind with Jennie," He ordered Rex before looking straight into Jennie's eyes, "Supply him with enough potions to make sure that he always has enough Arcane Power to keep up his rapid fire."

Afterward, Kian, Felicia, and Olivia looked at him, expecting some special commands for each of them as well.

However, Liam didn't even think of doing that. He looked at them with a raised eyebrow and muttered,

"Don't die!"
