Chapter 62 Bitch Of A Sister& Hurt Pride
In the end, Liam didn't even think of being nice to his little sister, let alone being gentle with her creation.
What he did on the first basement was just the beginning, and the basalt walls in the maze of the second basement were bound to meet the same or more gruesome fate real quick.
He retrieved the Keychain of Miniature Tools and enlarged the Mining Pickaxe once again.
There were a few things that attracted Liam's interest on the second basement floor and he intended to take a look at all of them.
He didn't really care about the maze walls, which left behind the monsters and traps as the only nuisances.
Of course, that didn't mean the basalt walls of the maze weren't noteworthy obstacles. They still were in his way, obstructing Liam and the natives from finding a way through the huge maze, by shifting and changing the paths every now and then, driving the beings that dared to enter it insane.
But Liam didn't think of using the obvious paths. He was more than willing to put some effort to raze everything to the ground.
His sister's anger and the rewards he would get on the second basement were certainly worth it.
Thus, he started to mine through the basalt walls of the maze, not caring about the maze's movements at all.
Rather than using his brain, Liam preferred it this way. If he could use brute force to conquer the underground tower, he would do that instead of thinking and strategizing. It was much easier and less complicated, after all.
Kian and Red ended up helping Liam by purchasing cheap mining pickaxes for a few Arcanium. Liam didn't ask them to help but he didn't mind the helping hand. With his S-Rank Vitality, Liam could work tirelessly for a very long time. His Strength stat might not be the highest but he could work relentlessly. The others were not sure whether Liam was actually the God of Mining rather than a Devil-Human Halfling. After all, seeing Liam mining was certainly a sight to behold.
A day passed in the blink of an eye and more than a quarter of the Maze had been destroyed. The destruction was not in an organized manner but Liam chose his path to tear the maze apart from the memories that were imprinted in his mind. When he saw the entire maze from the elevated position, he noticed that the places of interest were unmoving.
He had paved his way to these places while Ludwig and the others seemed to disappear to the sides every now and then.
Liam was not really sure what Ludwig was doing at first but he didn't pay much attention to the natives, in the first place. He found the places of his interest, a bunch of Lesser Demons, which was quickly decimated, and a bunch of treasures that were, once again, hidden away.
His little sister was definitely a petty bitch for hiding every single treasure, but that was nothing new to Liam. Using his Soultrait, the Devil's Eyes, made it a lot easier to find the hidden spots. After all, the agreement between the Great Unification of the Nine Realms and the 10th Great Realm seemed to hint at the fact that there had to be hints of the hidden treasures lying around, no matter how minuscule the clues were.
Of course, he couldn't be sure of this term or the exact clause in the agreement between the two parties but his sister would rather hide everything where nobody except her could find it than give up her treasures, no matter how worthless they were. That was enough reason for Liam to come up with his own theories.
After close to 24 hours, Liam was finally tired as well. So far, he had collected more than 200 Arcanium in the form of black tickets, he had defeated close to 300 Lesser Demons who had been roaming around the maze, and had also collected a few more treasures.
Most of these treasures were not of exceptional value, but he could sell them for a decent price. There would always be buyers to purchase a bunch of treasures, especially when the items restricted others while wearing, or using them, without having a negative effect on the wearer due to various reasons.
At the end of the day, Liam had yet to get his hands on a Lesser Relic, which was something he had expected to find in his sister's underground dungeon. She was not the type of person who hoarded a lot of trash, usually at least.
'Did she buy a bunch of shitty items to make up for the quota?' He wondered while lying on the floor. The others were resting as well, except Ludwig who was currently acting as a night guard. Ludwig couldn't see much in the darkness of the destroyed surroundings but the torches they had ignited were quite helpful, giving him something to see other than the little patch around them that was illuminated by the campfire they had ignited to warm up everyone.
While Liam had been thinking about the bitch of his sister, who intended to stir lots of trouble for him, and his actions that were just as brutal, destroying everything his sister had been working for on the second basement, he couldn't help but stare at Ludwig.
The young and skinny student continued to astonish him quite a bit throughout the day. Even if Liam didn't really want to accept it due to his hurt pride, Ludwig was definitely in possession of more Arcane Power than his body could hold right now.
While that hurt Liam's pride, it was also extremely hard to imagine that a native from Haltan was born with Innately high control of Arcane Power and a high storage capacity.
Haltan hadn't been in contact with Arcane Power for eons. At least, that was what Liam had always been told.
However, seeing Ludwig's performance today, whether it was his fight against the Lesser Demons on the first floor, or how he easily released his Arcane Power outside his body to spread it out in order to find monsters and treasures, was certainly not normal.
Even with a powerful Soultrait that was directly related to Arcane Power, Ludwig shouldn't be able to control the massive amount of Arcane Power inside him that easily.
'Was Haltan really cut off from Arcane Power for hundreds of thousands of years?'
