There was no change in Liam's expression when the five notifications reached him.
The notifications were about the death of the five students of which one had attacked him. If Kian were to know that they were dead, he would probably be stupefied and rush back to take a look at the students.
Afterward, he would throw a tantrum and act like a five-year-old kid. That was what Liam expected from Kian who seemed somewhat righteous but also foolish and a tad of a hypocrite. It was not bad to be righteous, but it was not as if Liam would change just because someone didn't agree with the way he handled certain situations.
Olivia and Felicia seemed to be the only ones in the group to understand that to the fullest. They chose to accept Liam, which was necessary to maintain a good relationship over a long period.
Together, they hunted down a bunch of monsters and handed Liam the corpses for him to sell in his Small Shop. Slowly, over the course of the following two hours, they reached the slope that led up to the cliff where Liam had observed the start of the Arcane Apocalypse.
Passing through the forest had been a little tricky because most animals had begun to evolve and many monsters had found a safe hideout to stay in for the time being. Thus, their group ended up fighting a wide variety of monsters, including dog-sized spiders, small and agile boars, and a handful of wolves.
Their Arcanium increased slowly but nobody paid it any attention. Paying attention to the surroundings and slowly climbing the slope so as to not accidentally slip and die was the most important.
It was only obvious but the forest was flooded and they were kneedeep in muddy water collected due to the heavy downpour of the previous days and it was difficult to find a foothold anywhere. They were attacked every now and then as some snakes and other monsters found their way to them.
Thus, it took them a few hours until they reached the stone cliff where Liam had been standing before the Arcane Apocalypse had begun.
"Sliding down was certainly easier," Liam said, shrouding his body with Arcane Power. The combat suit absorbed the Arcane Power before it expelled it at once, resulting in his entire body being cleansed of mud and dirt.
The others stared at Liam as he methodically began to cleanse himself and was done in an instant, but they didn't say a thing.
"The underground dungeon is right over there," Liam pointed over to the black basalt tower before he turned his head over to the other direction, "but let's first find some food."
Liam retrieved the Keychain of Miniature Tools from his Basic Potion Belt and injected Arcane Power into it. The miniature axe began to grow and it was only a matter of time before Liam found himself cutting a few dry branches, leaves that had dried in the sun, and a bunch of stones.
He created a small campfire and looked Rex dead in the eyes, "Release your lightning bolt against the edge of the blade."
Rex stared blankly at Liam whose expectation was quite obvious.
"He wants you to use your Soultrait in a controlled manner to light a fire," Ludwig supplied while rolling his eyes at Rex's stupidity.
"Oh…" Rex mumbled as he understood, "Ohh!!"
Rex had difficulties using his Soultrait in precision. Thus, the moment a bolt of lightning formed in his hand, he shot it toward the axe in Liam's hand. The bolt of lightning was far from the current of electricity Liam wanted to make use of, but it was still something that he could handle, somehow.
The moment the golden bolt of lightning was about to impact on the flat side of the blade, he twisted the battle-axe and split the bolt of lightning. The bigger portion of the lightning moved on top of the blade while the smaller portion impacted where it was supposed to, creating sparks that ignited the dry leaves.
Some electricity currents swept through the entire axe, including the shaft. Liam gritted his teeth as his hands nearly turned into claws in response to the sudden shock that coursed through him because of the bolts.
He glared at Rex, whose eyes went wide as saucers, terrified of Liam's anger. Rex's mouth opened and closed a few times but no words escaped his lips.
Liam turned away and the axe shrank down in size once again. It turned into the Miniature Axe as it was replaced by a small pan which Liam had expanded with the help of the Keychain of Miniature Tools.
"Someone else can do the cooking while I will take a look at the underground tower. There might be a few Shedime outside the tower."
Liam threw the pan over to Kian, who stared at it as if the pan was some sort of ancient Relic.
Felicia smiled as gently as ever as she took the pan from Rex's hands.
Liam retrieved one of the boar's corpses which he had stored in his shop for a whooping price of 10 Arcanium before he handed it over.
"I will be waiting to savor the best meat dish I've ever eaten when I return!" Liam said in a half-teasing, half-serious voice. Felicia's smile crumbled for a moment and she swallowed her saliva while watching the fleeting broad back of Liam.
A few seconds of silence passed before Felicia regained her senses.
"Does someone know how to butcher a boar?" She asked, scratching the back of her head while trying hard to maintain her confidence and smile.
While the students were struggling with something as mundane as butchering the corpse of a small boar, and cooking it without failing miserably over and over again, Liam spent his time roaming around the underground tower of his little sister.
He was anticipating the dangers of the dungeon and the look of utter shock on his little sister's face when her tower would be conquered and destroyed. Her hard work of several months without any sleep would be destroyed in less than a week since the Arcane Apocalypse started.
That was what Liam had intended from the beginning and he was looking forward to it!
