Reverse Apocalypse: The Devil's Revenge

Chapter 31 Throw

After the Blanchal Silk Gloves were filled with Arcane Power, it began to circulate through his hands. The Arcane Power that was led through his hands reached the tip of his fingers before it was led back inside the gloves effortlessly.

The circulation was natural and well-maintained without the leakage of even an ounce of Arcane Power from the gloves. That was exactly what Liam had hoped for since the circulation of Arcane Power enhanced the dexterity of his fingers.

Releasing his claws, Liam took note that their sharpness and durability them was reinforced as well.

'Good, there is nothing wrong with that!' He was satisfied with his purchase and could sense that his claws were much harder than steel. The sharpness of his claws had already been much better than the sharp blades of steel weapons, to begin with, but it was only now that he was confident to easily tear through the fur of the Elite Ratatuo. In fact, it would feel like a hot knife cutting through warm butter!

Of course, Liam knew how the natural circulation of Arcane Power would react to his claws, and that the Arcane Power would sharpen them. It was not as if his body had changed just because his powers disappeared.

There was a little difference between losing his powers, awakening a different Soultrait, and being in possession of a body that reacted differently to Arcane Power as it did in the past.

The latter was fortunately not the case, otherwise, purchasing the Blanchal Silk Gloves could have turned into a big mistake.

But now that everything went according to his plan, the only thing he was missing out on was experimenting with the traits of the Black Tarthear Needles. It was necessary to know how fast the needles would fly if he threw them with his full strength, how far they could fly, how much damage they did and the limits of the needles.

He didn't want to mistakenly attack a monster with an extremely tough hide or other sharper defenses and waste his Black Tarthear Needles that way. Knowing the limits of his weapons was important, it could save him from trouble in the future.

Thus, he got up from the ground. He stretched his body and walked across the entire gymnasium before he ended up in the large sports equipment room. There weren't many things in the equipment room but that was perfectly fine since he didn't need much.

He got hold of two thin wooden benches that were three meters long and he carried them back to the corner of the large hall. When he returned back to the place he had rested for a short while, Liam took note of the students and other people who slept more or less soundly.

'She is here as well?' He noticed the young woman, who had nearly been raped, sleeping not too far from the place he had rested until a few minutes ago. Her clothes were stained red from the dried blood of the head coach and it was quite obvious that she was having a nightmare as she slept in the fetal position and flinched every now and then.

Nonetheless, the fact that she could fall asleep was astonishing as most natives weren't capable of doing that since their minds were still being haunted by the events of the previous day.

Liam was quite surprised to find out how easily the students digested that their reality had been turned upside down. All of them were still sleeping, even though they had been the most afraid when the masses of rats had first attacked them.

'Thinking about it, they seemed to have accepted the new reality quite quickly,' Liam figured, not sure how he would have reacted in their shoes. He couldn't really imagine what it would feel like to have a calm and peaceful life.

Liam placed the wooden benches next to each other in a vertical position. The benches rested against the wall, which was more than good enough for what he wanted to test.

Liam took one big step backward, retrieved one needle, and threw it toward the wooden bench with some force. The tip of the needle dug into the wood before it was forcefully stopped. Thus, Liam used his full force to throw the second Black Tartheart needle toward the wooden bench.

The force was considerable and it was more than enough for most of the needle to cut through the wood. Liam nodded his head feeling somewhat satisfied and he took another step back.

He was slowly getting hang of the feeling and threw a few more Black Tartheart needles toward the wooden bench. None of his attacks missed but the strength he used for every throw was vastly different.

While testing out a bunch of things, Liam ended up throwing more than a hundred Black Tartheart needles in the next few minutes. He retrieved the needles afterward, and stored them back in the Casket of Trickery just to take a few steps back.

When the distance between him and the wooden benches crossed five meters, Liam began to aim precisely at the different areas of the wooden benches while he was walking around seemingly aimless. He was trying to smoothly retrieve the Black Tartheart needles from the Casket of Trickery and implement the necessary movements in his natural walk.

Time passed quickly but he was slowly getting the hang of the situation. He kept increasing the distance to the wooden benches, yet his aim remained as precise as before. This was a predicted outcome since he was not only versatile and trained with most weapons but the dexterity of his hand was also artificially enhanced through the Arcane Power that circulated through his veins.

Liam was ambidextrous which made things even more interesting. The only issue he faced was to figure out how exactly he should place the Casket of Trickery to remain undiscovered to the enemy eye yet be easily accessible by both hands. In the end, Liam chose to put the Casket of Trickery behind his back. He couldn't reach the trigger of the Casket with both hands, not smoothly at least but he could use a trace of Arcane Power to trigger the mechanism of the Casket of Trickery.

It was pretty easy for someone like him to use and he could tell that his motions were getting smoother with time. That feeling was addictive and hard to replicate. After all, it was rare to learn something new and improve rapidly while doing it for the first time.

'Looks like I didn't lose my talent to throw stuff…even if it's not throwing a fit…'
