Reverse Apocalypse: The Devil's Revenge

Chapter 128 Liam And The Boy

Unexpectedly, the Dojo had a secret basement.

It was filled with preservable food and its foundation was extremely sturdy.

Apparently, Felicia's mother had bought the fencing dojo like this, along with the underground shelter.

Felicia's mother didn't think too much about it, but she refreshed the highly preservable food once or twice, just for the extremely low possibility that it might go bad.

It was almost as if her female instincts had kicked in as she had even prepared a few other miscellaneous items, which was also how a total of 15 people ended up in the underground shelter and managed to survive for the last two weeks.

"Using preservable food is definitely better, and cheaper than using Arcanium. But hiding is not really a solution either. The underground shelter will turn into ruins the moment a 1st Circle Monster attacks." Liam mumbled while knocking lightly against the shelter walls.

He gave a shrug and kept ignoring the weapons that were pointed at him and the frightened gazes that were trained on him.

Olivia, Jennie, and even Hellen and Derek kept close to Liam to make sure that nobody would be stupid enough to attack him.

This was not for the sake of Liam's safety, but for the survivors who might face his wrath if he got angry and started killing everyone.

It didn't take long before Liam finished assessing the situation.

Felicia's parents gathered as many people as they could find to seek protection in the underground shelter. They hadn't been able to find Felicia but weren't able to rush out before hordes of monsters charged into the city.

The fencing dojo and the school Felicia attended were too far apart to take a casual stroll outside. Nonetheless, they would step outside the underground shelter every now and then to assess the situation.

They had been extremely worried, which could be seen clearly based on the way both Felicia's mother and father clung to her right now.

Liam was not too sure what to think about that but he mostly ignored it.

'They're all weak.'

"Were all of you scratched by the monsters outside?" He thus asked, getting a little bit suspicious of the situation.

Everyone's head flicked to him in response to the question he asked. It was the first time Liam had asked someone a question since he had entered the underground shelter.

Thus, the others were a little surprised at first. Their fear was apparent as well, but that was not something Liam could change.

Seeing that nobody answered his question, he let out a deep sigh and scratched the back of his head.

"Why is this always so difficult? Violence is so much easier…" He complained quietly to himself.

Liam figured that violence was better than uttering nonsense with a thousand words. He was not very good at communicating with others and he would rather use his claws than open his mouth.

However, he had given some effort in the last two weeks to speak a little rather than killing everyone. Liam was in need of information, and people with good Soultrait. That way, he could become stronger at a much faster pace. This was something worth changing for, because it allowed him to get a step closer to his revenge.

Oliva smiled wryly hearing what Liam had said before she responded, "Communication is the key, you know."

"Communication…I don't like it."

Liam's Soultrait was activated and he noticed something. At first, he noticed that all of the 15 residents of the underground shelter showed the same symptoms of having been poisoned. That was why Liam first thought that all of them had been scratched or bitten by the monsters whose corpses he found outside.

However, there was one thing that didn't really make sense; none of the 15 people in the underground shelter seemed to have sustained any injuries. That was what it looked like, at first.

But he took note of a child that was hiding behind his mother. The little boy didn't dare to stand firmly on both feet. He leaned heavily on one side while relieving the other side.

This was a subconscious action that the young boy might not even have noticed until now.

"Step way."

Liam stared at the young boy and he took a step forward.

The mother of the boy was in his way, her entire body trembling involuntarily as she pointed a large kitchen knife at him.

"You don't want to listen?" Liam asked, his intense purple eyes staring into the depth of the young woman's eyes, reaching her soul. She froze in her tracks, while Liam grasped the large kitchen knife with his bare hand.

Using a bit of force, he tightened his hold on the kitchen knife that began to crack before it shattered, dozens of metal fragments falling onto the ground with a loud clinking noise.

The woman was about to move when Liam pushed her lightly aside as he squatted down to the ground. He ignored the other people around him and took a look at the young boy.

"Your left leg hurts and it itches a lot, doesn't it?" Liam asked while ruffling through the silky hair of the young boy.

The boy stared at Liam, suddenly unsure whether he should be afraid or not. Subconsciously his hand reached out toward the black horn that was jutting out of his forehead.

"Woahhhh!!" The little boy exclaimed, touching the horn with both of his tiny hands.

Liam was a little astonished about that but he just smiled. Children were the most innocent existences in the universe, except Devil children. They were pieces of shit, of course. However, Liam couldn't even do something against Devil's children.

After all, he wanted to be as lowly as the people he loathed to the core.

"If you touch my horn, I will take a look at your leg," Liam warned before tearing apart the right leg of the boy's pants.

The mother screamed out at the top of her lungs as she lost it, just for a badly reeking stench to fill the air all of a sudden.

"It's a highly contagious poison," He mumbled his conclusion out loud as he looked at the leg and the veins that had turned a poisonous shade of green. Liam was not aware of the type of poison that spread through their body, but everyone seemed shocked about the injury on the boy's leg. Even the mother didn't seem to have taken note of it.

She ignored Liam and shot down to the ground to take a look at her little boy.

"My baby, what's wrong with you? Why didn't you tell me that you're hurt?!" The woman asked worriedly.

The corners of Liam's eye twitched when the woman next to him screamed. Her voice rang through his ears, causing him to feel like getting rid of her.

However, it was at this moment that Felicia arrived next to him. She tugged his arm and looked at him pitifully.

"You can help him…" She said only to stop midway "...right, Liam?"

'Ay…Shit…'
