Chapter 122 Get Rid Of Them!
Defeating the group of Half-Mutated Boars hadn't been a big problem.
However, friendly fire certainly was a big problem. Some women panicked at the sight of the boars charging at them. They shot blindly in the direction of the boars in an attempt to kill them.
The simple fact that members of their group might be fighting in the frontlines and could accidentally get injured was not something they had bothered about.
Olivia, Derek and Hellen had nearly been killed because of some reckless women who couldn't even use the few brain cells they had to aim at their opponents rather than their allies.
It was only fortunate that Liam had been present and that he observed the course of the fight with his Devil's Eyes Soultrait fully triggered. He could react fast enough to destroy the bolts that had been accidentally shot at the natives in the front.
The Arcane Power in his Arcane Kunai had been used up to destroy the bolts before they splattered upon the heads of the few people he considered valuable.
In a fit, he retrieved all crossbows and bolts, leaving the only weapons to Derek, Hellen, Olivia, Felicia, and Jennie.
As for the others, they didn't deserve any weapons in his opinion. They could already be grateful that Liam hadn't been enraged enough to kill them!
That was something he actually thought about doing after they panicked in a fight against some weak-ass monsters.
The boars were weak and they hadn't been in a numerical advantage either! Despite that, Liam had to intervene to make sure that they wouldn't have three casualties.
To summarize the battle in one word, it was clearly a disaster.
No matter how well Felicia and Olivia worked together, and how surprising it was to see that Derek was able to remain unscathed while fighting against two boars, their group was still struggling.
Derek was not even fighting with his strong arm, and he was still physically and mentally affected by the loss of his strong arm. His stats weren't that high either, but that didn't change anything as he fought the two boars with much more calm than expected.
Derek's Soultrait was certainly a great help because he could issue lethal attacks that were also extremely fast.
This was a great advantage that others weren't granted through their Soultrait.
Liam was not too sure how fast Derek could get stronger but he saw a faint spark of potential in the young man.
But he was truly surprised by Hellen's fighting style. Instead of joining the other women in using the crossbows to fight while maintaining some distance from the monsters, she had purchased a dagger set which she had used to kill a boar after giving it some effort.
Hellen was not yet proficient with the daggers, and her inexperience of fighting with her life on the line had also a big impact on her performance. But what astonished Liam was none of that. He was more surprised about her courageous attempt to fight the boar by herself.
She forced herself to stay calm, which was exactly what she needed to emerge victorious.
On the other hand, Jennie fought as expected. She didn't hinder anyone and attacked the boar that had been the farthest from everyone. That way, she could make sure that even if her attack would miss, nobody would be injured.
Pulling the trigger was much easier than fighting someone while fighting in close combat.
However, Jennie was still not feeling great.
But that was the least of Liam's concerns. He was enraged and felt like ripping the throats of the women who screamed at the top of their lungs while shooting around wildly, wasting bolts, attracting more monsters, and endangering their allies.
It was literally a wonder, how Liam could keep his murderous intentions at bay. He didn't kill the women, though he upped the pace a little.
That way, they reached the Golden City around the afternoon.
Almost everyone was exhausted, but they made it to the plaza in front of the gymnasium.
The surrounding scenery had changed a little. More destroyed and abandoned buildings came into view and the destruction and evidence of huge battles could be found wherever one looked.
However, Liam didn't mind these signs and evidence. He was focused on getting rid of the annoying women, who couldn't do anything well except be loud, stupid, and dangerous for his people.
"I think it's time for you to depart. It has been horrible enough to have you near me, so better leave quickly, otherwise, I might feel like beating you guys up a little."
Liam's farewell was far from emotional and pleasant. He didn't even try to make it seem as if he was unhappy about their departure.
His smile was one of joy and relief about their departure.
The women pressed their lips together, and their heads turned over to the humongous gymnasium.
"I think we should apologize for the trouble we caused you. Thanks for your help…" One of the women said with a forced smile on her lips. She knew that they had been stupid and entitled but it was hardly possible to stay sane in times like these.
The woman left without saying anything else. Everything that had to be said was said, and she didn't want to bother Liam any further. He was kind enough to bring them to the gymnasium. Now it was on them to figure out what to do in the future and how to survive.
Slowly, the women left one by one. Some thanked him, while others left quietly.
Liam didn't mind either of them, he just wanted all of them gone.
In less than a minute, the only newcomers left behind were Hellen, Derek, and the two other women who had decided to stay in Liam's group.
"You two should leave as well. As long as I'm still nice," Liam told the two women whose names he didn't even bother to remember.
"Your plans to leech off of me won't work. Either leave now, or I will snap your necks."
The two women hadn't expected Liam to bluntly ask them to leave as well. They stared at each other and then at Liam once again.
"B-But…we did our best?! We're getting better, and we're not useless…even Hellen was worse than both of us. We kill three boars together!" One of them retorted, with a stammering voice.
She knew what happened to the last woman who had retorted to Liam, but she couldn't help but feel that he was being unfair.
"That's just your opinion. You are delusional, and your attacks nearly killed Derek. So what if you killed three boars, I don't give a shit!"
