Reverse Apocalypse: The Devil's Revenge

Chapter 100 One Versus 50

Dwarves were a long-living race that was known for their great craftsmanship, their physical strength, and their small population.

Encountering 50 of them at once, with all of them looking like seasoned soldiers had multiple meanings. Liam understood that quite well.

However, he couldn't really start examining the possibilities, not on the top of the valley, standing between the stone cliff and the underground tower's entrance.

That was why Liam had to make use of something else such as dirty tricks and petty means to gain an advantage.

He released the Lumina Needle to the front, where it began to shine brightly not even a full second later, four meters above the surface.

Liam had closed his eyes for a short moment while running to the side. Simultaneously, he pushed Jennie to the side, giving her some momentum to rush faster toward the underground tower's entrance. The underground tower was only a few meters away from its current position.

In fact, Olivia wasn't even two meters away from the entrance.

She had been talking with Liam when Jennie had been attacked.

Felicia and Olivia were the first to enter the Underground Tower. Jennie emerged inside the tower not long after them. The dazzling light of the Lumina Needle had yet to die down as the first round of crossbow bolts was released. A few bolts thundered through the entrance of the underground tower. They nearly hit Jennie and Felicia in the back, merely missing the two girls by a few centimeters.

Liam, on the other hand, was not even close to getting struck by a crossbow bolt. He had dashed to the right side and ran close to ten meters before the bolts had been fired.

When the crossbow bolts had been released, Liam changed his trajectory in an instant.

He released the Arcane Kunai and threw it in the direction of the Dwarven group while slowly opening his eyes.

'36.' He counted in his head.

That was the number of bolts that had been released just now. At least, that was the number of sounds of the bows being released he had heard. Liam knew that he wasn't far off from the truth and that he had roughly two seconds before the 36 crossbows would be drawn out again, a bolt placed in each, and the crossbow ready to be shot once again, aiming at him.

Even if the Dwarves had a mechanism to draw the crossbow after it had been released, Liam was sure to roughly receive two seconds to make a move, and he was sure to exploit them to the limit.

Now that he was not dazed from the Lumina Needle's light anymore, he was running at the Dwarves at a full speed. Thus, the remaining drawn-out crossbows were a little bit annoying.

Liam thus controlled the Arcane Kunai to accelerate and cut through the strings of the crossbows that were pulled over in his direction to aim and shoot.

Close to a third of the Arcane Kunai's stored Arcane Power had been used to accelerate the speed of the Lesser Relic. It was extremely fast and cut completely through ten crossbow strings before the remaining drawn-out crossbows were triggered.

Liam had fully unleashed the Devil's Eyes. It allowed him to see and decipher the trajectory of the five crossbow bolts that were shot at him. He jumped to the side, quickly rolled over the ground, and got up in a single smooth motion that reduced his momentum only by a fraction.

The remaining crossbow strings were cut through as well before Liam willed the Arcane Kunai to come back to him.

It shot back into his hand before Liam released it once again.

The remaining distance between him and the Dwarves had been reduced to less than ten meters and the remaining working crossbows were still not fully drawn out or ready to shoot.

Liam released the Arcane Kunai once again while his left hand moved to his back, retrieving a Lumina Needle from the Casket of Trickery.

Even after he bought the Storage Rune, Liam still continued to use the Caskets of Trickery. He had split up the Lumina Needles and Black Tarthear Needles with half of them stored in the Storage Rune and the rest in the Caskets of Trickery.

He activated the Lumina Needle with his Arcane Kunai and threw it straight into the air while he pushed forward.

The dazzling lights of the Lumina Needle emerged in the air behind Liam while his eyes were still wide open. He pushed forward while the Dwarves were forced to make a decision.

They could either face him with the crossbow bolts, hoping that they would hit and kill him in an instant, or they could throw their crossbows aside and unsheathe their weapons.

Both the Dwarves and Liam knew that if the second discharge of crossbow bolts wouldn't hit and kill Liam then they wouldn't have the time to hurriedly unsheathe their other weapons, charge at him, and start a close combat battle while being fully prepared.

The Dwarves were bound to make a mistake in their haste to unsheathe their weapons. Even if they could smoothly get their hands on the weapons, Liam would still be faster, and even more so in retrieving the Arcane Kunai.

And as if on cue, the Arcane Kunai pierced through the neck of the closest Dwarf in front of Liam, making blood splatter all around.

The Arcane Kunai's blade pierced easily through the thick chainmail that covered the parts of the body that even the full set of heavy armor couldn't cover without restricting the wearer.

It was almost as if the chainmail didn't even exist, in the first place. Warm blood gushed out of the Dwarf who stumbled backward before he collapsed on the ground and died miserably in the puddle of warm blood that formed around him.

The Arcane Kunai didn't stop there. It shot back to Liam who threw it out again, while pounding into the mass of fifty…or rather 49 remaining Dwarven Warriors.
