Chapter 44 Potion
Seeing Arthur coming out of her mother's room, still looking like he had just woken up, Carla knit her brows.
"Why aren't you getting ready for school yet?" She asked.
"Aunt is in the process of establishing the foundation of her Spiritual Core, I will be keeping an eye on her, so I won't be going to school," he replied.
Carla's reaction was the same as her mother hearing Arthur's answer. Not going to school when there were no serious problems was a bad thing from her point of view.
However, she wasn't sure how to comment when she heard about her mother. She couldn't help but ask, "how did she build the foundation of her Spiritual Core so quickly, I haven't even found my way?"
Arthur shrugged in response, pretending he didn't know.
"Maybe she's lucky or she has talent," he replied. He deliberately lied to motivate Carla.
The girl always thought she was no less or even better than her mother when compared to when she was young. That might be true, but such thinking could limit one's own development. She needed to take a mental hit so she wouldn't be too proud.
"Can I see her?" She seemed to be curious how Isabel was now.
However, Arthur shook his head. "This is a critical situation, better not let her be disturbed at all lest any troubles arise."
He could definitely overcome any problems that could arise in establishing the foundation of a Spiritual Core, but of course, it was better that it didn't happen at all lest there be any defects in the future.
Carla frowned slightly at his answer. After a soft snort, she stepped down the stairs, then left the house.
"That's right." Arthur thought of the five Flowers of Sorrow he had gotten from the garden. They are in this house, but scattered at various points.
He closed his eyes, trying to feel their presence. After finding them, he sent wind magic to retrieve them.
Quickly, they gathered in front of him without him moving at all except for his chanting mouth.
After gathering them, he went into the kitchen.
There, he lit the stove and then put a pot of water.
What he wanted to do was make a simple potion, which was good for someone who had just become a magus.
The Flower of Sorrow could actually be made into various magic potions, but the problem was that he currently didn't have any other Spiritual Plants and his strength was still too weak to create Spiritual Plants with his magic power, he could only create ordinary plants. And with just one kind of Spiritual Plant, the resulting magic potion could also only be the most ordinary magic potion.
When the water in the pot began to boil, he put the five Flowers of Sorrow into the pot. Then, he extended the palm of his hand forward. Spiritual energy gathered in the palm and after he cast an incantation, it condensed and turned orange. Slowly, it formed into something, a saffron that seemed to glisten as if it were something made of metal.
Whoosh!
A blade-shaped wind appeared, chopping the saffron into powder.
Arthur then dropped the turmeric powder into the pot.
After that, the same thing happened again in his palm. The difference is, this time what appears is a piece of ginger.
A few minutes later, Arthur had put various herbs into the pot.
When he stirred the water in the pot, the aromas of the various herbs blended together, producing a new, very fragrant scent, causing a few butterflies to enter the kitchen through the window.
Of course, it's not perfect. Just because it contained a Spiritual Plant, a potion still couldn't be called a magic potion without adding some magic.
This also requires certain special spells.
Otherwise, the potion would not be able to carry out its function, it would simply be a potion that contained spiritual energy, barely dissimilar to the Spiritual Plants themselves.
Arthur turned off the heat on the stove so the potion in the pot calmed down. He then took three steps back. Holding his hand forward, he said, "Holy lightning, purifier of all things, come and refine my potion!"
BANG!
A bolt of lightning that looked like a snake appeared right above the pot, striking it until it cracked.
Arthur moved quickly, he picked up the cup and used the wind to pull the water that was almost falling everywhere. He shoved them into the cup which filled quickly.
Now, it contained transparent colored water, giving off fragrant spiritual smoke, turning the air extremely fresh.
Some butterflies wanted to come closer but Arthur shooed them away.
There is something unique about the water. If you look carefully, you will find something like a fish but too small to be called a fish.
It swam in that water, left to right and top to bottom.
"Done!" Arthur said, sighing in relief.
The fish-like creature wasn't really a fish and wasn't a creature either, it was just a bit of energy taking a shape, which could also be said to be a mark that it was a magic potion.
Depending on the potion level, the markings will also vary. At the top level, it can become a dragon, phoenix, or even an angel. The former can roar while the latter can release flames. As for the latter, he can even speak, chatting up unknown magic secrets.
However, Arthur himself never saw the latter.
After cooling the potion in the cup, Arthur transferred it to a glass bottle and closed it tightly.
He cleaned the kitchen, throwing away the broken pans before returning to the living room.
There, he sat on the couch, playing on his cell phone and occasionally glancing at his aunt's room.
Minute after minute and hour after hour passed without any problems arising, making Arthur feel quite calm.
As the clock struck 11, Arthur saw a purple light flashing in his aunt's room. He saw it through the keyhole of the room door.
The light gave off an eerie sensation, as if it was hiding something that could destroy everything.
Arthur was no longer waiting, he stood up, took the bottle containing the potion and headed towards his aunt's room.
