Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 269: Frontier Fields

The speed at which Xu Feng exited stunned Tracy on the spot.

For some reason, she sensed that he wasn't comfortable with the name he altered.

"As expected of all eccentric bosses." Tracy clasped her hands, concluding that it was just the typical trait of most bosses.

Without further ado, she resumed her work and prepared to contact the blacksmiths regarding the subsequent contract and when they should get to work.

Xu Feng was quite meticulous and had already informed them beforehand on what to forge.

Most of them were common items that are required by newbies, but Tracy didn't dare to question his motive.

She was just an employee, and a great employee should simply do as told without questioning why.

If there was something she should know, then Xu Feng would have told her already.

And this was precisely why Xu Feng came to appreciate Tracy.

She was clever enough to know when or when not to ask questions. Sure, she might know something after some pondering, but she kept silent about it.

Feeling reassured to leave the remaining tasks to Tracy, Xu Feng already boldly walked out of the hotel as he prepared to take the North exit.

'The ores source should be in a separate dimension.' As he exited through the North's gate, Xu Feng opened his map and checked the terrain.

Most of the terrains had already been explored, with some even digging many layers underground to search for ores, only to end up with naught.

Thus, the only possibility was that these ores weren't located underground or elsewhere, but in another dimension.

From his recollection, the richness of the ores was in the north side area, so Xu Feng needed to start his search from the very beginning.

"Time to do this like an expedition." Xu Feng declared, heading deep into the open field that had level 17 plus monsters roaming around.

System: You have entered Frontier Fields!

Frontier Fields lay in the quiet stretch just outside the desolate Star Falls City.

The landscape was marked by expansive, flat terrain with sparse vegetation.

The ground had been a mix of hardy grasses and low shrubs, punctuated by patches of rocky outcrops and scattered boulders.

A few stunted trees and thorny bushes had added some variety to the otherwise open expanse. The sky overhead had often been clear, providing unobstructed views of the distant horizon, which contributed to the feeling of isolation.

The air was thick with dust, and the occasional gust of wind carried a faint metallic scent. Xu Feng could feel the gritty texture of the ground beneath his boots, each step sending up small clouds of debris.

Despite its proximity to the city, Frontier Fields possessed a stark, rugged beauty, reflecting the harsh, unwelcoming environment of its surroundings.

Clearly, it had been a place that was left untouched and remote.

"This is so far off from the Frontier Fields I recalled." Smiling bitterly, Xu Feng finally realized what it meant to be a pioneer of a desolate city before its ushering prosperity.

The so-called lushful greenery and vibrant environment were nowhere to be found here.

One might even mistake the fields had undergone a fierce battle among cities, given how terrible the condition was.

As Xu Feng treaded further, he could feel his body movement being affected slightly.

'A hostile environment?'

Dumbfounded, Xu Feng checked his stats, but there was no status ailment being listed. In other words, his sluggish movement wasn't affected by the hostile environment, but by the atmosphere itself.

To summarize, this was a natural suppression area and was not considered an ailment or hostile environment.

With this revelation, Xu Feng's expression turned solemn. The difficulty was far worse than he had anticipated.

"It seems like I need to speedrun this even faster." He mumbled, activating Dark Pact and summoning the Abyssal Phantom.

Due to his increased level and attributes, the Abyssal Phantom became even stronger.

As the Abyssal Phantom hovered around in the air, Xu Feng commanded it to be the vanguard. "Advance forward and kill anyone that is near the vicinity of us."

The only reason why he didn't attempt to hire mercenaries to assist him was solely because of the Abyssal Phantom. With this creature alone, it was more than enough to tackle the monsters in this area, albeit somewhat slower.

Shortly after receiving the command, a murderous aura erupted from the Abyssal Phantom. It stretched its claws out and began scrutinizing the surroundings.

A few seconds later, it detected some monsters. With a zooming speed, the Abyssal Phantom went ahead and attacked the monsters.

Bzzz Bzzz Bzzz

Buzzing-type of noises echoed from afar, and Xu Feng was surprised to see this type of monster here, Gargantuan Beetles. They were massive armored beetles with thick, almost impenetrable exoskeletons.

Their powerful mandibles could crush anything in their path and exuded a faint, acidic mist that corroded equipment over time upon contact.

Thankfully, Xu Feng was a ranged-type class, and with the Abyssal Phantom commencing the assault, he was relieved of the consequences of having his equipment corroded.

However, he didn't dare to relax at all and quickly buffed the Abyssal Phantom, providing it ample support.

The Gargantuan Beetles might work alone, but upon contact with enemies, they would instantly send distress signals, essentially calling for reinforcement.

Normally, Xu Feng would disrupt the distress signal, but his current skills were limited. Not to mention, he didn't mind free experience points rushing their way toward him.

With swift action, Xu Feng leaped on top of a tree branch and calmly watched the battle from atop.

The Gargantuan Beetles' attacks were indeed powerful, but toward the Abyssal Phantom's elusive movement, it was completely ineffective and useless.

In the blink of an eye, the first Beetles had fallen prey to the mighty Abyssal Phantom, creating zero suspense.

"This is how one should grind monsters." Xu Feng smiled, his eyes glancing at the reinforcement, who clearly had no idea what they were going up against.

The Abyssal Phantom was blood-thirsty, and within a few seconds, it had already rushed ahead and launched another offensive strike at the reinforcement called by the deceased beetle.

While this happened, Xu Feng calmly made a few markings on his map, extremely relaxed.
