Chapter 136: Valeria's Attack

Chapter 136: Valeria's Attack

Valeria stood motionless on the deck of the small fishing boat, her dark robe fluttering slightly in the cold wind. The chaos she had unleashed on the patrol boat was still unfolding before her, but she watched with cold, detached amusement. The soldiers who had once been strong and determined now lay lifeless, their bodies strewn across the deck, victims of her dark magic.

She smiled-a cruel, satisfied smile-as she flicked her fingers, and from the mouths of the dead soldiers, pale, ghostly wisps began to rise. Their souls, still clinging to their mortal forms, were drawn towards her, helpless against her power. With every flick of her fingers, more souls emerged, twisting and writhing in the air as if resisting, but they could not escape her pull.

Valeria breathed in deeply, savoring the sight. The souls drifted towards her, and as they came close, she opened her mouth slightly, inhaling them one by one. Each soul seemed to fuel her, adding to the dark energy that already pulsed through her veins. The rush of power was intoxicating, and her eyes glowed with an eerie purple light as she consumed them.

She let out a soft, satisfied sigh as the last of the souls disappeared into her. "So... these are the soldiers that killed Ursa?" Valeria's voice was low, smooth, and dripping with mockery.

Her eyes scanned the broken bodies on the patrol boat, her disappointment clear. "I expected much more from those who managed to take down one of the Demon Generals."

She flicked her fingers again, sending a small spark of energy crackling through the air. "But alas... a bit disappointing, if I must be honest. No strength, no resistance. Just mindless cattle, falling under the weight of their own weakness."

"Wait..."

Valeria noticed something.

"This is strange..." she muttered to herself, stepping forward on the deck, her gaze fixated on the lifeless bodies of the soldiers. "Their souls... they're hollow, like they haven't truly lived for the past two or three decades." Her voice grew sharp with suspicion as she knelt beside one of the fallen men, her hand hovering above his chest.

A spark of dark energy surged from her fingers, probing deeper into the body. What she found confirmed her suspicions-these men were not ordinary soldiers. They were manufactured, grown, or perhaps... reanimated. Their lives had been short, devoid of real purpose, just tools designed for war, and their souls reflected that emptiness.

"Interesting..." Valeria stood back up, brushing off the dust from her robe. "Looks like there's more to this little army than meets the eye," Valeria mused.

She flicked her hand, the air around her shimmering as dark energy rippled outward from her body. With a single thought, the small fishing boat began to glide forward, propelled by her magic.

The closer she drew to the island, the more Valeria could sense the power that lay ahead. The island's defenses, while formidable by mortal standards, were insignificant in comparison to her own dark might. A smirk tugged at the corners of her lips as she imagined the destruction she would unleash.

Then—from above, she heard a screeching sound from above that pierced through the howling winds, cutting through the fog that had begun to surround the island. Valeria's eyes narrowed as she glanced up, her senses alert. The fog swirled and parted slightly, revealing a shadow moving at incredible speed across the sky.

An A-10 Thunderbolt, its engines roaring, streaked toward her position. The aircraft's distinctive shape became clear through the mist, and Valeria's smirk faltered for a brief moment. Her eyes tracked the plane as it banked sharply, its nose dipping toward her boat.

Before she could react, the telltale whirr of the A-10's GAU-8 Avenger cannon filled the air. A split second later, a storm of 30mm rounds tore through the fog, heading straight for her.

Valeria threw her hand up, dark energy surging from her palm as she cast a barrier just in time. The rounds slammed into the shield with a deafening crack, sparks flying as the magical barrier struggled to hold. The impact forced her back a step, but she held firm, her eyes blazing with fury.

The A-10 made another pass, its engines screaming as it circled back for another run. Valeria lowered her hand, glaring up at the plane.

"It's strong..." she said concernedly. Normally, mortal conventional weapons wouldn't pose a threat to her. But the projectile that struck her barrier just now was on another level. It had so much force and pressure.

As the A-10 lined up for another strafing run, Valeria prepared herself. This time, she wouldn't just defend. She intended to strike back. Her fingers twitched, gathering dark energy that crackled like electricity in the air around her.

The A-10 dove once more, the cannon whirring as it prepared to fire again. But Valeria was ready. With a sharp flick of her wrist, she sent a bolt of dark energy shooting into the sky. The tendrils of magic twisted and snaked toward the aircraft, faster than the eye could follow.

The pilot tried to evade, banking sharply, but Valeria's magic was relentless. The tendrils latched onto the wings of the plane, jerking it violently mid-flight. The aircraft wobbled as the pilot struggled to maintain control, but the dark energy was already seeping into its systems, short-circuiting electronics and disrupting its internal mechanisms.

Valeria grinned wickedly, her grip on the tendrils tightening. She yanked the A-10 downward, pulling it closer to the sea. The engines screamed in protest, but the aircraft was no match for her power. The dark tendrils wrapped tighter, and with a final, sharp tug, Valeria sent the plane crashing into the water with a deafening roar.

A massive wave surged from the impact, rocking the boat beneath her. Valeria stood firm, unaffected by the chaos she had caused, her eyes glowing with a malevolent light as she watched the wreckage of the A-10 disappear beneath the churning waves.

"Not so strong after all," she muttered, turning her attention back toward the island. Her power was growing, and these mortal weapons-no matter how advanced-were merely a nuisance in her path.

With a wave of her hand, Valeria propelled the boat forward once more, her eyes fixed on Akarios Island, where her true conquest awaited.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
