Vol. 11 - Chapter 533 - The gaze of Agent Cat! Class 1 vs Class 2 — Round 1 (verbal dispute)
The power dynamics between classes had taken a definite shape.
The display of strength by the class-1 had spurred many classes to join hands, while determined ones had gone out to conquer other classes.
The whole proceeding had been witnessed by a lightly equipped girl.
"Nya~"
She was Karua, a member of Class-1, and a «Catkin». Her job, «Star Agent», was to take action behind the scenes.
It happened right after their assault on Class-58, Zephyr had Karua take on a different path. She climbed—it was supposed to be a monumental task—atop the mountains and overlooked the happening from her vantage point. While there had been great distance between, nothing was however hidden or obscured for Karua with her advanced job skill «Peeping». And as it stood, the distance allowed her to be oblivious from opponent's perception.
"Nya-Nya. A report to Zephyr and team. Come out, my familiar cat agents—«Summon Agent Cats»!"
" "Nya." "
Karua intoned her skill in a light manner, and immediately, two black cats quietly manifested from her shadow and sat before her.
They were 30 cm in size, and although not comparable to «Sachineko-sama» they're adorables. They appeared no different from normal cats for the most part, but the oblong crystal inlaid on their forehead was a proof they're not normal.
It was another of her skills, to summon familiars, though it was only capable of summoning two cats since her skill was still level 5. Plus, they couldn't be summoned for long, and they were more like small fries for the battle. However, their main forte was stealth operation.
"Hn, err...oh, I will write it down so wait for now. —Lesson to myself, write a report first, and summon later..."
Karua writes a letter while her familiar awaits.
Being her first time to write a report, she had to wreck her brain a bit on how to succinctly put it, but nevertheless she put down something that would at least convey the situation to Zephyr.
"Done. Hn, not bad. —Agent Cats, pass them to Zephyr and Sierra. Be quick."
" "Meow~!" "
Karua nodded in satisfaction as at her written report, and passed it to her familiar soon after folding it.
Familiar cats grasped them, and left with a blinding speed akin to thunderbolt.
They went down the mountain in the blink of an eye, and vanished from sight. It was the effect of their skills—«Blitzing Cat» and «Shadow Concealment». The combination of two skills had made these familiar cats the ration d'tere to manoeuvre in secret.
"Hn. Report completely. Now back to the mission. «Peeping»!"
Ascertaining that, Karua once again set her sight on the field, taking note of the unfolding situation.
◇◇◇
Jumping to another place—the location was southwest of the arena. Class-1's main offence squad had been here.
"What next, Zephyr? Are we going to attack? We should attack, right?! It's definitely our chance!"
"Hold on, Saturn. Let's wait for Karua's report first."
Saturn, burning in flame of enthusiasm, pushed in for our next action so I first had him quiet down.
As for what we're doing, well, we happened to spot Class-2's base who had a fate (?) with Saturn and company. Correction, we had been in front of the defence line a while back, but that transformed into a barricade as they and Jilon etc were locked into a confrontation.
After we had earned plenty of points by attacking the base on the reverse side of the mountain, I had Karua to 'peep' at the situation from the summit of the giant mountain to the south. The skill, «Peeping», had allowed her to see even from far away, an enhanced version of farsight. According to Karua's explanation though, it was more like her vision jumped up right next to the the opponent. I guess, something like drones huh.
Anyway, the skill's ability held true for only the areas that her vision encompasses, hence I had her move to the highest peak possible to capture a much larger area. With her foothold skill, it was a piece of cake for her to climb up that peak.
After dispatching her, we had moved to the central area where we spotted another base—which we later came to know it belonged to Class-45. We were about to jump on it, but halted our plan after seeing the crowd.
A lot of battle power was concentrated there it seems. I wonder what was it, maybe the alliance force?
Either way, it was a gamble to challenge a fortified base with just nine of us, so I noted down the base location in my mental note for the time being.
Then we turned around, and mapped the area while walking in parallel to the huge mountain in the southwest. We had found the Class-2's defence line amidst that, and—this is how we came to our current situation/
I had wanted to ignore this as well in the beginning, but decided to re-think after seeing <Best of the Best, the Great Star>'s extreme enthusiasm.
Our opponents were similarly wrapped in enthusiasm, all but waiting for the order to jump on us. I considered it might not be a bad deal, plus I had promised the Quartets that I would arrange a stage for them to display their skills.
But the match had just started, and much of the area was still unexplored. So I was waiting for Karua's report, hence I had stopped them from taking any action right now.
Though, we—or more like <Best of the Best, the Great Star> were now stuck in verbal confrontation due to that.
"Fufu, that's quite a barricade you have. Commendable, at least you do realise the terror of our Class-1."
"Hmph, all bark but no action! Uh-huh, how lowly you can even fall."
"Fret not, this Venerable and team will destroy that barricade of your like paper. Just wait, when you fail to and lament how you get wrecked despite arming yourself to teeth."
Oh-ho, they're really on fire!
Jilong, Tom, and Helck talked down the members of Class-2 as they showed themselves from the other side of the barricade.
Of course, Class-2 wasn't going to take the insult lying down.
"How dare you!"
"You're saying we're relying on this cheap wall to take shelter from you?! Hah, rubbish!"
"Hmph, we can crush you four easily even without the barricade! Get that eyesore barricade out!"
"You listen folks! Remove this barricade!"
Hey, hey, hey! Were they so easy to be goaded?!
No way they can be stupid enough to destroy the painstakingly built barricade, right?! RIGHT?!!
"Stop there, you dimwits—!!"
"Moron, mindless monkey, retards!!"
" " " "Gaahhh?!" " " "
However the barricade ultimately stayed on. The boys of Class-2 were adamant, but the girls of their class smacked them with paper fans and straightened them out.
Good going. Even I would have wanted to do that had it been me.
"You all are hopeless. I had been thinking you are dumb but you really showed you have pea-sized brains!"
"How the hell you didn't understand the simple fact that taking out barricades is no different than opening doors to attackers! Truly, I have learned today that there is no limit to stupidity!!"
And so began the sermon of girls—or not. If anything, they're just as exasperated at their behaviour. Strange enough, I found myself sympathising with them.
However, the boys replied grandly.
"But there's no way you can go back after being mocked by <Best of the Best, the Great Star> so much!? How can we do that!"
"Yeah! It's the moment to teach <Best of the Best, the Great Star> a lesson!"
"We're the only one fitting for Class-1! This barricade is just on our way to stop us!"
"Wow, you all are really really irredeemable! You pea-brained monkeys!!"
"Moron, mindless monkey, retards!!"
" " "Higyaa?!?" " "
The next instant, we saw humans being blown away from a paper fan strike. NIce jab, I must say.
"Haa, there really is no limit to their idiocy huh. Hmph, they're mere deerlets trying to outmanoeuvre us lions."
Indeed, I agreed on that aspect...but what was this irritational hint of annoyance when I heard 'idiot' coming out from Saturn's mouth.
"Fufu, at the end, this is just the calibre of Class-2."
"Truly, what an unsightly spectacle! If we get serious, they can only wait themselves to be slaughtered."
"Indeed, they might not even be able to hold themselves until this Venerable comes out."
"Ah, we, the «Eden», don't hold the same opinion, by the way. <Best of the Best, the Great Star> is just spouting on their own accord."
Tom, Jilong and Helck further riled up their opponents.
I had made it clear we weren't taking them as idiots.
"Tsk, now we're not even worth putting in their eyes huh!"
"Has our main squad not come back yet!? I can't hold myself any longer!"
"Oh-ho, so your main team isn't here huh. Thank you for the news."
"Aaaah! This is why you're all dumbassess! NOW JUST SHUT THE HELL UP!!"
"Retards, Brainless monkeyssss!!"
Hmm, sometime <Best of the Best, the Great Star> can be useful as well huh.
I learned something important.
Though having revealed the classified information, that boy received a flurry of paper fan strikes.
I really pity the girls—I had just sighed when I felt something on my feet.
I looked down and saw a black cat knocking its head on my leg, helding a letter.
Ohh, it seems the information is finally here. It was a bit of a wait, but as long as it's here. I swiftly received the letter, and read it—after petting the cat.
"Pfft, that has one down then huh? We don't even have to do anything."
"Haha, who could have thought even words will be enough to topple our enemy, eh? Sometimes I fear my talents."
It was a hard read, all thanks to the annoying buzzing by my ear, but I somehow finished reading the report. The information it held was tide-changing.
After a bit of mental struggle, I massaged my head, nodded to myself, and decided to inform them of the tragedy.
"Err, hey. I have extremely unfortunate news for you. I just received the report, and...... that main squad of your class or whatever seems to be reduced to only four members. They're now fleeing for their life as I speak."
"..................Come again?"
Starting with the girl that had just about to smack again with the paper fan, though halted when she heard me, everyone in the Class-2 stopped on their movement as if someone had tapped on a paused button.
