Chapter 26
Chapter 26: Chapter 26 – Meeting Yubiri
Bringing the dress back to her room, Feng changed back into it. The beautiful sky blue dress came just above her knees and it even had ruffled, stitched to its bottom and collar. She glanced at her lanky figure in the mirror and twirled around.
“It’s so pretty,” Aiden sweetly whispered and hugged her.
“I know, right? It’s so cute as well. Look at this waist line. Should praise the [game] design team.” She mumbled and sat down on a chair. She easily pulled out the braids of her rat tail like hair. Each partition should up like her hair was stuck by a lightning bolt. ‘So darn ugly.. tsk, I have to eat properly and nourish this body.’ she took out a small wooden rake comb and combed through.
Expectantly the comb got stuck in her tangled hair. “geez, lord, why is it so hard to maintain long hair. I’d rather cut it short,” she painfully grumbled, pulling the comb out.
“Let me,” Aiden ran to her rescue.
“It’s okay. My hair is hard to tame.” Feng refused him, yet the little kid took the combs from her and started combing gently. His movements were so slow and careful that Feng almost went to asleep.
“ohh you have a pin. I’ll use this one. It blends well with your hair,” Aiden picked up the small l brown gemmed pin from the table. A strange power surged inside the gem making him frown a little. {‘Ethan, did you see this? It’s got magic infused in it,’}
.....
Ethan tottered over with his short legs and leaned to take a look. “Who is this?”
“I just picked it up. Mind you, I didn’t steal it or anything,” Feng said nonchalantly. Besides, the pin did not look that luxurious. It was just a common stone that was not even cut properly.
“This.... it’s weird Feng,” Aiden mumbled, frowning. {‘this one has Grade A protection magic in It. do you think she met up with Yubiri? Only he is powerful enough to infuse such a powerful artefact,’} he glanced at his brother.
{‘If it’s protection magic, let her have it. it’s better she carries it around. we have yet to manifest our powers this can keep her safe in the mean time,’} Ethan picked up the pin and easily pinned it into the small fishtail braid. “it looks good,”
“You think,” Feng happily glanced at her pin. “It does match my hair colour. It’s like I’m not wearing anything.”
Right then, someone softly knocked on their door.
“Come in,”
A woman in maid’s clothes walked in respectfully. “Miss, masters, the lady had requested for you to attend to a guest,”
“Okay,” Fang sprang up and glanced at the two. They both had changed into a new pair of shirts and trousers, looking as posh as ever. “Let’s go. But who might this guest be,”
“It’s an accomplished young man who requests your presence miss,” the maid kindly said, leading them to lady Hiliana’s room.
“Oh Feng, boys you ate here. I would like you all to meet someone special. Meet mister Yu. Sire, these are my new wards that I’ve taken in, Feng, Aiden and Ethan Mei,” lady softly smiled at the white-haired young man.
Both Ethan and Aiden did not refute to her Feng’s surname attached to them. But they silently gritted their teeth.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you,” Yubiri stated closer with his hands outstretched.
Fang as a natural response gave her hand to him, but the little boys suddenly held tight, clinging to her hands. “Sorry, my little brothers are quiet naughty. Please excuse their behaviour,”
“Kids are kids after all,” Yubiri knowingly looked at the two. “I’ve come here to actually apologise for my rudeness yesterday.”
“It’s nothing sire, it was a momentary mistake, that’s all. I would like to apologise for my siblings’ mistake as well,” Feng slowly bowed. She subtly looked into the guy’s eyes. They were anything but sincere to the twins, but as he focused on her, his eyes would glow up like a thousand volts bulb. ‘Is that puppy love? Don’t think so. But this guy... he is dangerous.’ It was the air he carried it slightly smelled medicine and slightly of blood. She held back a tremor and gracefully sat down opposite to him.
Ethan and Aiden sat on her either side as if to guard her from him. Their bodies were stiff as wood. She gently patted their backs, trying to soothe them. The twins slowly relaxed. ‘Let sister handle this guy.’
Lady Hiliana smiled at her and offered a small platter full of colourful cookies. She naturally took one and bit into the sugary treat.
“What brings you here this fine morning sire,” Feng whispered, wiping her mouth with the small ornate kerchief. ‘I know apologising was not your only purpose, kid. Squeak out the reason,’
Yubiri smiled widely. “I just came to know about the brave survivors of the sea and I came to give my aide. Tell me Miss Feng, where do you come from and who are your parents. I can help you reunite with them.”
‘Just came to know?! Who is he kidding he stood right next to me when I was pulled in. Such a hypocrite,’ she bit her lips softly and glanced at lady Hiliana’s smiling face. Because she was here, she could not outright be rude to him. Smiling, she whispered, “Thank you kind sire, but lady Hiliana has been anything but kind to us. We are in need of nothing.”
Lady Hiliana felt conversation was stiff, so she inserted herself. “I heard that you are assisting the great magician Yubiri, is that so sire. So young, yet so accomplished. Don’t you think so, Feng?”
“Very accomplished indeed, madam.” Feng smiled stiffly. ‘Fuck, there is no such person in that game. Are you kidding me? That guy Yubiri was a social awkward person. He only had one man servant named Kijin. He was designed to have plain looks unlike this guy.’
The character Yibiri outright hated human interaction. It was mentioned multiple timed in the introduction that his magic towel looked like a haunted one because only two people lived there. ‘Then who is this guy claiming to be his assistant? Probably a fake. Let me test him out.’
“Sire Yu you must have come across many great magic spells if so. I’m very curious indeed. To become a great mage’s assistant, you must be so powerful,” Feng smilingly whispered. She felt a small tug from Ethan’s side, but she ignored it and peered at the white-haired dude.
“Yes, I have come across many of his great spell and inventions. I have even accompanied him on his adventured. Ones there he was in search of a magic scroll so rare that it can only be found in the library of....”
He kept chatting on. Lady Hiliana and Alvin who came a little later seemed to enjoy his tales a lot. But Feng zoned out, feeling the little kids tugging the back of her skit continuously.
Feng gently sighed. ‘Knew it... this guy is not a fake. Then he is most like the great mage Yubiri himself!’ she subtly glanced at him.
The game had multiple magic setting for this one character alone. He was a great mage, a loner, and a great scientist. He alone discovered many elixirs for plagues and many other outbreaks. As for the mage part, he was well versed in thousand of spells that he can cast one with just a wink.
‘Wait! Shape shifting is one of the spells he developed. I knew it. No wonder I didn’t recognise him at first glance. He has changed his hair colour from blood red to white,’ she sighed gently. ‘Even so, he should not be wronged. This guy, as much as he is praised as a great scientist he was a crazy in reality. He discovered all those elixirs by testing it on humans directly.’
Feng subtly pinched Aiden. ‘Cry now, baby.’ she glanced down at him and winked a little.
Aiden understood her cue and started sobbing earnestly.
“ho what’s wrong? Is something wrong?” Feng acted along, hugging him gently to her embrace. Without even looking up, she felt a sharp gaze on her. She subtly glanced at Yubiri. He was looking at Aiden with an unknown look. ‘Shit, shit, shit,’ gulping she patted her back and winked again.
Aiden stopped crying instantly, slightly sniffing.
“Sire, I think we are all lacking sleep and feeling quite bad. I will have to bid adieu to you.” she bowed to him and lady Hiliana and swiftly left the room. She tightly griped Aiden’s hand. “Aiden, Ethan, if you guys see him anytime run, okay. That guy is a great mage and somehow we seem to have offended him immensely.”
