Chapter 26 - 26: Appraise Talent
Chapter 26: Appraise Talent
I cursed at his dramatics and asked, "Hey Fatty, tell me quickly, what happened to her?"
"Watch, the classroom teacher is going to explain," Wang Feng smirked.
The teacher sighed and said, "An unfortunate event happened to Su Yanran.
She was traumatized by the incident that happened in the goblin dungeon."
"What?" every student exclaimed at the teacher's remarks.
"Hey Fatty! How could she be traumatized?" I asked, confused.
"Boss, you weren't there, or you would have known," Fatty sighed again and said, "She witnessed many players and even her hunting parties being cruelly and playfully killed by the D-rank player, and she herself was hunted. But thanks to someone who saved us."
"Oh!" I exclaimed and was surprised that it was indeed a traumatic experience for someone who hadn't killed a human and suddenly had to witness all of these.
I sighed and thought, "For me, it is indeed nothing. I've watched the memories of my previous life and know that sometimes the value of human life is worth less than a penny."
Suddenly, a peon entered our Class Xth and announced a name, "Sam."
I stood up and said, "I'm."
"The principal has called for you," the peon said and went about his work.
"May I go out, sir?" I asked my classroom teacher, and he replied, "Okay."
"Time to reap the appraisal talent," I murmured, and a smile bloomed.
I reached the principal's office where an elderly man and the principal were sitting.
"Sir, he has arrived," the principal said to the elderly man.
The elderly man turned his head, observed me from head to toe, and said appreciatively, "Indeed, a genius."
"Thanks for the praise, Senior," I replied, neither humble nor overbearing.
"Okay, okay, come and tell him the reason," the principal said calmly.
The elderly man became interested and said, "Yeah, tell me, I'm indeed interested."
"I just wanted to meet an auxiliary S-rank player for motivation," I said calmly, feeling in control.
"Uh! Motivation?" Both exclaimed at the same time, and the elderly man asked curiously, "What type of motivation?"
"Sir, I heard that it was extremely hard to cultivate for an auxiliary player, but still, you managed to overcome all of the obstacles, and just thinking about it gives me a boost," I said in a sonorous tone and with an honest expression.
"Great, great, as I expected from the student who invited me," the elderly man said happily.
Internally, I breathed a sigh of relief, thinking, "The old man's hidden trait is to listen to praise, but that praise must come within his abilities and not be overrated, or it can backfire."
The principal sat there, stupefied, as he watched the reward request turn into praise. What was even more surprising is that the old man was reacting rather well.
"That's your nobility, Senior," I respectfully said.
"Okay, okay, you don't have to praise me," the elderly man said jokingly.
I just smiled, and the elderly man again said, "If you ever need anything, come to me."
"Thanks, sir," I replied politely and returned to my classroom.
Upon exiting the principal's office, the elderly man returned to his usual self and said calmly to the principal, "Sir, I can feel from my talent that he will surely do great."
---
"Eh! Now I just need to devour the 'Appraise talent,' and my talent will become complete," I thought excitedly and soon arrived at the classroom gate.
"May I come in, Sir?" I asked.
"Come in," the classroom teacher replied.
I reached my seat, and Wang asked me about the old man, as it was rare for us to meet great appraisal players in the Province Xth.
Time continued to pass, and soon it was time for school to end.
---
Outer area of Province Xth
Ten A and two S-rank players, along with Su Sen, could be seen in the underground hall. The hall was littered with human bodies and signs of battles and spells.
Su Sen approached the last man and asked calmly, "Where is your leader?"
"Sir, we don't know," the last man shuddered and replied fearfully.
Su Sen, standing close to the last man, used his ice spell to freeze his entire body, then disintegrated the ice along with his body. A shriveled voice resounded.
"Dammit, they fled again," Su Sen said angrily.
"Let's go," he said, and the other eleven players followed to search for the leader.

Province IXth
In the underground
Many players could be seen wearing cloaks with the symbol of the devil on the back.
The leader who had recently fled from Province Xth knelt, and another man, who was sitting majestically, said calmly, "Let's halt our operation for some time."
"Okay, sir."
…
On the training ground, a girl could be seen panting while a woman was busy training her.
"Miss Su, I advise you to fully harness the abilities of the ice mage," the woman said calmly, acting as Su Yanran's mentor.
"Yes, mentor," Su Yanran replied, standing up with unwavering determination in her eyes, ready to practice her ice mage spells.
