Chapter 1589: A Desk Job

It had been 2 months since Ning found out how to cure the Sparkless, and since then, he had spent every waking hour either teaching people or doing the deed.

He had healed so many Sparkless by now that he could see the Spark crystal-covered organ every time he closed his eyes. He had so much put into his mind in a short amount of time, that he was starting to be able to guess where the organ would be just by looking at the person.

Of course, he couldn't do the healing just based on his guess, but it was starting to become annoying.

Thankfully, the people he had been teaching how to heal for the past 2 months were starting to go to work themselves. He was there to watch them the first few times, but after that, they could do it on their own.

And when enough people began curing the Sparkless, Ning could finally quit doing so.

The healing of Sparkless had caused a stir around all the cities, not just because Sparkless was being healed, but because the ones that were being healed were now surprisingly much better Spark users than they had ever been before.

People with talent who were born once in a lifetime were getting made every half a day now. It was an incredible event.

There were even people who went so far as to get themselves Sparkless just so they could heal themselves and become better Spark users all over.

When it was found out that was being done, the Major General immediately put a ban on healing anyone who had selfishly impaired themselves. Those people were punished by having to remain Sparkless for a long time before they were healed again.

This included many Generals and Captains as well.

Ning was finally free from all the hustle, and now spent his time in his small office, doing nothing but giving out work to the officers under him and getting back their report.

It was a desk job that he quite hated most of the time, but right now, it was the perfect thing he needed. After those two months, anywhere without people was a great place for him to be in.

Ning spent his life leisurely for the next few weeks, taking it all slow. People rushed out to the surface to gather as much Spark as they could in the upcoming months as the moon was going to enter Krimanax's shadow.

Then the surface would be extremely cold at that point and Sparks would be difficult to gather without the light, so they needed to gather all they could right now.

Ning had been outside a few times to see how they were doing, and perhaps because of the influx of new people who were able to use their powers again, the entire task was going at a tremendous rate.

Even though there needed more people to heat up the cities during the time when the moon was in Krimanax's shadow, it would not be a difficult period of time at all.

A few weeks into working on his desk job as a Lieutenant, Ning looked through the DODS on his desk, assigning different tasks to different people. That was the main job of a Lieutenant, and he did it quite well.

He was in the middle of the task when something popped up in his job section. A task had just been assigned to him.

Considering that the only person above him who could do such a thing was Redaime, it had been from her.

"What now?" Ning wondered and looked at the task that was named at the side of his vision. 'Investigate this claim!' the message said, with a larger explanation down below.

In City 10, there were people who said that there needed more Spark to carve out the city. However, the appropriate amount of Spark had already been provided.

And yet, the workers there claimed that it was not enough. It was Ning's task to go and investigate how much of it was true and how much was false.

Was all the Spark truly required or was there some other issue?

Ning looked at the time on the DODS and realized he had plenty of time to go and check the claims. He replied to Redaime, saying that he was taking the task, and then left.

City 10 was close by from where he was. It was only half an hour of walk away, so Ning arrived at the place not long after.

A section of City 10 had already been completed and people were migrated to that section as well. It was the wall side closest to the opening to the next city, while nearly 70% of it still remained to be fully made.

There were workers all around, mostly Carvers, who were slowly carving away the city while making new places according to the blueprint.

One thing these people needed to make sure was that the city was in many ways the same as the city in the other moons. This was one of the major things that they made sure to keep so that they wouldn't feel out of place every single time they moved to a new place.

Another thing was that the Carvers couldn't remove rocks. They had to push it away, and since there was so much to carve, they had to do it slowly.

Ning walked up to a few workers and quickly found the one in charge through them.

The person in charge was an old man with a large widow's peak and thick facial hair that was half-grayed already. He was a large man with strong muscles from all the work he did around this place.

If the shape of a physique could triumph over pure strength, Ning would lose to the man all 10 times if he fought him.

"Boss Wultz?" Ning called out to the man.

The man turned around and looked at Ning. "That's me," he said. "Who's asking?"
