Chapter 1454 The Two Treasures
Chapter 1454 The Two Treasures
Necklace of Charming n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
Anyone wearing the necklace passively gives off an aura that charms anyone around them. The closer they are, the stronger the charm becomes.
The wearer can also choose to activate the treasure to charm another person with a strong burst of charm, but doing so will make the necklace useless for an entire day.
The more charmed a person is, the more they are likely to follow the wearer's words and obey them.
"Woah!" Tim said as he read the book. "No wonder we were just listening to her quietly, doing nothing. I thought I was just scared."
"And her beauty," Jasmine said. "That was just her charming us, making us think she was more beautiful than she really was."
Tony picked up the necklace and looked at it. Was an interlinking chain of gold with triangular-shaped gold threads at the front with a couple of gems at the base of where the threads began.
"Are we really keeping this? I don't think it is that useful for us. Tim could use it, but I don't know if he would want to use it," Tony said.
"I think we should return it," Tim answered.
"No, we will only return it when she brings with her another treasure," Ning said. "I have heard some nasty thing about that woman, and whatever comes for her, it will be justice."
He looked toward all three of them. "Don't forget. In the end, she is one of the cruelest pirate captains."
The three slowly nodded.
"She is indeed very cruel," Tony said. "I once heard that she burned down a vessel full of people because it turned out to be a fishing vessel instead of a ship full of people to rob. She got angry and burned down the entire ship. A few of the fishermen managed to escape on some dingy and brought the news back."
Jasmine gasped. "How horrible," she said. "That bitch. I would've slapped her earlier if I knew about that. She was let off too easy."
Ning shrugged. He turned toward Tim. "Try the coin next. See what it says."
Tim nodded and placed the coin on an empty page of the Book of Treasures, and activated it. The page glowed a soft gold light as things were scribed onto it right in front of their eyes.
Coin of Fortune / Coin of Curses / Coin of Possibilities / Coin of a Woman's touch / Coin of Mystery / Coin of Luck
It is a coin that determines whether the user will be able to grant good luck or bad luck. One of the sides of the coin, with an image of lady luck, represents the side with good luck on it. The other side with a skull, represents bad luck.
Whatever side it lands on, the user gets to bestow that very thing onto themselves or anyone else.
The amount of good luck or bad luck that is placed onto others by the user is determined by the number of days the coin has not been used. For maximum benefits, the coin must be unused for a total of 5 days.
"So… you placed good luck on her?" Jasmine asked Tim.
"I believe so," Tim said. "Although, I couldn't tell how much power there was in it. I don't think I was meant to know that."
"You would've known that were you its owner," Ning said. "I'm sure Stillwater didn't use it for more than 5 days. She just seems like that type of person who only uses it when she considers it to be very important."
"Maybe," Tim said.
He looked at the coin in his hand. "Lady luck, huh?" he said softly and pulled out the silver coin he had in his pockets. "I think she must have had this for a long time. This has kind of become her mark, it seems."
"What is that?" Jasmine asked.
"I think it was supposed to save us from the sketchy situation if we showed this. Such a time never came though. We were in the thick of it before we even knew it," Tim said.
Jasmine's eyes slightly widened and she turned toward Ning. "That's right! Because of you, we nearly died today. What were you thinking sending two people like us to go record the treasure of big-time pirates?"
"We went to that damn Silvereye and nearly got ourselves killed," Jasmine said.
Tim took the silver eyepatch that was on the table beside the book. "That man knew how to use it and immediately destroyed all of our treasure's effects. We were left powerless and nearly turned into honeycomb from all the pistols there."
"But you didn't die," Ning said.
"We were going to," Jasmine said.
"But you didn't," Ning said. "And I knew you wouldn't. That is why I gave you that job."
Jasmine felt frustrated.
"Besides, do you really think I would've let you do something this dangerous if there was a possibility of death," Ning asked while shaking his head. "It was all part of a plan. And you successfully pulled off that plan of mine."
Jasmine did not believe it.
Tim sighed. He saw no way to get Ning to admit fault here. "Alright, let's stop talking about that. If we are to continue doing what you have asked us to do, there are still 6 treasures out there for us to find after tonight."
Tim took out a notepad and flipped through it. "But the problem is, we only know about 5 treasures. Actually, we only know about 4 and know where the 5th one is. There is no 6th treasure on this pirate island that anyone is aware of."
"You will have to find all 10, that is the mission," Ning said.
"What if we can't find the last one? Nobody knows where it is," Tim said.
"I am not going to tell you how to do your mission. Do it however you want to," Ning said and stood up. He stretched a bit. "I'm getting a little hungry after all that. Do you guys want some food? I'll order us some food."
