Chapter 1438 A Downside

Chapter 1438  A Downside

Jasmine struggled to read what was written in the book as she wasn't well educated. She could tell most of the words, but some escaped her.

Because of that, Tim had to read out every single sentence that was written in the book.

With every sentence he read, Jasmine's eyes went wide with shock. And the shock continued throughout the entire event. Storing Youthfulness, Strength, Time, Weight, Health, Mental Aptitude, and Memories, all to be used at a later time whenever required was something that could make a man maddeningly powerful.

With its proper usage, Tim would forever be youthful. He would forever have the strength whenever he needed it. He would be healthy for a long time with no sickness ever troubling him.

He would never forget a single thing and he would always be smart enough whenever he needed to be.

Jasmine could only curse herself for failing to win the coin flip. This could've been hers, and here she was hearing about it from someone else's mouth.

The envy that grew in her was strong. She could finally understand what Ning meant when he said that Tim would be better off not telling anyone about it.

This was a treasure that could get kingdoms to go to war, and here it was at the hands of a youth who was barely an adult. She could only imagine the future that would be Tim's.

"God, this is annoying," Jasmine said out loud. She looked at Ning. "If I don't find a treasure that is as good or better, I am going to haunt you your entire life."

Ning chuckled. "I cannot guarantee that you will find something as good. I can only work with what already exists. If it does, I will try to get it to you."

"Please do," Jasmine said, almost pleading. "I might die of envy otherwise."

Tony was still reading the entire thing over and over and over. No matter how many times he read, he felt as though he must have missed something.

There had to be some sort of restrictions to the whole thing, but there was nothing. How could something be this powerful?

"Is there just no downside?" he asked in the end, unable to find it.

Tim shook his head. "I don't see if there is any," he said. "Unless you count me being old and weak while I use it as a downside."

"That's just the requirement, I would say," Tony said. "Not the downside. And you can stop it whenever you need to. It's not really a downside at that point."

Tim nodded. "There is a downside," Ning budged in. "In a way."

All 3 looked at him. "What's that?" Tim asked.

Ning pointed at the book at number 3. "When you store time, you aren't just storing your perception of it. You are storing the impact of time on you. You are storing actual time."

"So say you store an entire night's worth of time, which to you should pass in no less than a few minutes. That wouldn't mean hours passed for you. It means that minutes passed for you."

"Yes," Tim said. "I don't get what you're getting to."

"I'm saying that because time is passing differently for you when you store it, you don't have the time to store everything else."

"In the entire night, you spend to store these 7 things, if you store time along with them, you will have barely stored any of the other 6."

"At the same time, you will barely have any time to sleep as well because of that," Ning said.

"That sounds like more inconvenience than an actual problem," Tony said. "You're reaching for a downside."

Ning raised his hands. "I can't help that there is so little downside to this," he said. "I have to show the only flaw there is."

"I see," Tim said. "That would be annoying to be fair. If I'm alone, with no need to worry about the outside world, this wouldn't be a problem at all."

"But the way the real world works, this would definitely cause some problems for me. I should find a proper way to use this," Tim said. "I'm sure I will come up with some sort of compromise in the end in terms of my commitments and my relationships."

Ning nodded. "That is something you will have to worry about later on," he said. He looked at the other two after that. "What do you two think? Will you kill him to get your hands on the treasure?"

"Of course," Jasmine said with a chuckle. "It is so good that I just might."

"I'm not joking," Ning said in a serious tone. "If you think you will do it, you will have to tell me now."

"Oh," Jasmine stopped smiling. She shook her head. "No, I won't kill him for it. I do feel envy, but I'm hopeful that what I get later on will offset that easily."

Ning asked the system to feel the truth in her words. She wasn't lying at all. n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

He nodded and looked at Tony. "What about you?" he asked.

"To be honest," Tony said. "It is truly an incredible treasure. Now that I have seen it, I don't think I can ever get myself to stop—"

Ning waved his hands. Tony's vision blurred and he swayed for a second before catching himself. He shook his head and turned around to look at everyone before smiling wide.

Ning closed the book.

"What are we waiting for?" Tony asked Tim. "Tell us what that box does already. I'm excited to learn about it."

Tim's eyes widened slightly and he turned toward Ning. It was then that he remembered Ning saying that he had no need for the box to do what it did.

'He can store away memories?' Tim wondered. 'Or is he erasing it?'

Ning shook his head toward Tony. "Tim decided to not tell us what it is in the end," he said. "It is his choice, so we should accept it."

"Oh," Tony said, a little disappointed. "I really wanted to know, but whatever. It's your box. As long you like what it is, that's enough."
