Chapter 608: Incompetent Lamentation. Strength Enhanced

When the broadcast echoed through the air, everyone froze, their jaws nearly hitting the ground in disbelief.
After all their painstaking efforts and sacrifices to take down the [Giant Scorching Ape], Black-hearted Princess swooped in at the last moment, stole the kill, and walked away with an enormous reward.
It was utterly unacceptable! Surely, this had to be an illusion! No, it must be fake news!
S.K.Y. and Taurus exchanged stunned looks, their disbelief mirrored in each other’s eyes. How could Black-hearted Princess have contributed more damage than them? It was impossible!
And yet…
The next announcement left everyone rooted in place, utterly stunned:
Ding! Rewards based on damage dealt are as follows:
First place: [Princess]. Reward: 3x Rare Random Equipment Crates.
Second place: [Prodigal Master of Huadu]. Reward: 1x Rare Random Equipment Crate.Third place: [Little Sweetheart]. Reward: 3x Uncommon Random Equipment Crates.
When the announcement concluded, the area fell into a deathly silence.
If they had been in disbelief before, they were now convinced they were dreaming. After all, Black-hearted Princess had only struck once during the entire battle, yet she earned double the accolades and rewards. To top it off, she claimed first place for the damage-based rewards as well.
It was beyond comprehension!
S.K.Y. stood frozen, fury surging in his chest so intensely that he felt it might burst at any moment. ‘Why? Why does she deserve this? I refuse to accept it! I can’t accept it!’
Meanwhile, Taurus’ eyes bulged so intensely they looked ready to burst. Consumed by unbridled rage, he screamed hysterically. “Black-hearted Princess! I’ll kill you a thousand times, no, ten thousand times!”
His desperate wails, however, never reached Yaeger’s ears.
By the time the rewards had been distributed, Yaeger had already vanished without a trace. To her, slaughtering such weaklings was a waste of both time and energy. Of course, if they dared to seek her out, she wouldn’t hesitate to obliterate them, no matter the cost.
“Kill her! I’ll wipe out Black-hearted Princess and every single one of her allies!” Taurus bellowed. Instead of calming down, his fury only deepened, driving him further into madness.
The onlookers could only watch him with a mixture of sympathy and pity. Some had to stifle the urge to laugh outright.
After all, Taurus had suffered the greatest losses in this battle, while everyone else had merely wasted some time and effort. It was human nature to feel a little better about one’s own plight when seeing someone else suffer worse.
"Ahhhhh!" Taurus’ frustrated wail escalated into an enraged roar. Without another word, Taurus abruptly logged off, leaving the others staring in stunned silence.
Meanwhile, in the bustling city of Huadu…
“Black-hearted Princess, I’ll destroy you! I’ll ruin you completely!” Taurus bellowed, his words dripping with malice.
Taurus crawled out of his oversized, plush bed and viciously pummeled his pillow, imagining it as the detested Black-hearted Princess. Once his anger was spent, he slumped onto the edge of the bed, panting heavily as he struggled to calm himself.
“Pant… Huff… Those who cross me always pay the price!” he muttered between labored breaths.
Still seething, he grabbed his phone from the nightstand and made his way to the window, dialing a number with a steady hand. The city below gleamed with lights, illuminating the night as Taurus stared out the window. The line connected after a few rings.
“Young Master Zhang, how can I assist you?” came a calm voice from the other end.
“Master Lin, do you have any updates regarding the task I assigned to you?” Taurus asked bluntly.
On the other end of the line was Stanley Lin, the second young master of the Lin Family—one of the Four Major Families.
“No updates yet,” Stanley replied, his tone indifferent.
“With the Lin Family’s vast influence in Roc City, how can finding one person be so difficult?” Taurus asked, a note of impatience creeping into his voice.
Stanley’s voice grew cold with irritation. “Young Master Zhang, what exactly are you implying?”
Feeling his family’s reputation slighted, Stanley’s tone turned noticeably hostile.
“Ah, my apologies. I didn’t mean it that way,” Taurus quickly backtracked. “I was merely wondering—does this person have some kind of significant background, making her harder to trace?”
“I wouldn’t know about that,” Stanley replied haughtily. “But let me make one thing clear: there’s nothing our Lin Family can’t handle in Roc City.”
“In that case, I’ll look forward to hearing good news from you,” Taurus said smoothly. After exchanging a few more pleasantries, Taurus ended the call, citing other pressing matters. His expression darkened as he tossed the phone aside.
“Nothing your Lin Family can’t do? You can’t even find one person after all this time. Useless trash!” Taurus spat bitterly. He hurled the phone onto the bed with force, cursing under his breath.
Until he could locate Black-hearted Princess in real life, the dark, festering hatred within him would remain unquenched.
Meanwhile, high above Roc City, hundreds of kilometers away from Huadu… Yaeger opened her eyes in the pitch-black expanse of the [City of Chaos] and let out a soft sigh.
“All the preparations are nearly complete. I’ll finally get a chance to rest,” she muttered, sitting up in her bed and stretching languidly. The expansive room was devoid of furnishings, yet a faintly feminine fragrance lingered in the air.
Yaeger rose from her bed and strolled toward the doorway, her steps unhurried and relaxed. The moment she entered the main lobby, two petite and adorable maidservants hurried toward her.
“Master, we’re starving!” they exclaimed in unison. The pair were none other than Vera 17 and Vera 18.
“Are we out of food already?” Yaeger asked, her tone laced with confusion. She vaguely recalled having stocked up on a large supply of rations not too long ago.
Vera 17 and 18 nodded emphatically. “Yes! We’ve eaten it all!”
“Are you two bottomless pits?” Yaeger sighed, feeling a headache coming on. ‘How can they eat this much?’
“That’s not fair! Little Blue ate the most!” Vera 17 protested indignantly.
“That’s true! She ate way more than us!” Vera 18 chimed in, crossing her arms in frustration.
“Little Blue, come out,” Yaeger called, gesturing toward a shadowy pillar in the hall.
Moments later, a girl with flowing blue hair peeked out hesitantly, her lips curving into an awkward smile.
“You. Over here,” Yaeger instructed, pointing toward her with a pale finger.
After a brief moment of hesitation, Little Blue stepped out from behind the pillar, appearing before Yaeger in a blink.
“Master, I’m starving~” she whined, wrapping her arms around Yaeger’s neck in a playful embrace.
“Hungry? Weren’t you the one boasting about being a superior lifeform that doesn’t need food?” Yaeger replied, her voice tinged with exasperation.
“Hehe, I can’t help it! The food on this planet is just too delicious!” Little Blue grinned mischievously.
“Oh, you. Do you realize how inconvenient it is for me to keep restocking food?” Yaeger lightly tapped her forehead against Little Blue’s.
“Ouch! Master’s so mean—it hurts!” Little Blue let go dramatically, retreating a few steps with an exaggerated pout.
“Master, we’re so hungry~” Vera 17 and 18 tilted their heads at an angle, their eyes wide and pleading.
“I’ll get you all some food in a bit,” Yaeger said with a small smile.
“Yes!” The two practically leaped with excitement at her words. Their cheerful reactions made them appear like innocent, carefree young girls. Yet, if anyone familiar with the infamous [E-Fairy] witnessed Vera 17 and 18 acting cute just to beg for food, their jaws would undoubtedly drop in disbelief.
“Just wait a bit longer. I’ll be right back.”
After returning to her room to don a proper disguise, Yaeger instructed Little Blue to teleport her to a bustling commercial district nearby.
