Chapter 26 - Two Unlikely Allies Part Two
Chapter 26 - Two Unlikely Allies Part Two
"You fucking lizard!" Isabelle yelled out as she watched Renne die almost instantly. She held out her book in one hand and turned its pages before stretching out her free hand towards Kana. A bright golden glow began to emit from her hand as she began to chant. "By the blessing of Yuthia, I beseech thee to restrain thy enemy [Binding Lig…]"
"Kanna, watch out! That girl is… "Lysairth's words got caught in her throat as she watched an arrow pierce Isabelle's head, stopping her chant.
Kana turned and looked at Isabelle, who stood frozen. Her hand was stretched out, pointing towards Kana, but the look on her face was full of shock. Her body swayed back and forth as blood trickled down the side of her head from where the arrow was still protruding out. Slowly her body caved under its weight and fell to the ground. Kana then looked towards Ceilie, who was still fending off the soldiers, and smiled. "Since you helped me, I will help you!"
Kana jumped up into the air: "[Tailwhip]!" She spun her body around, smacking Ray in the side of the head sending him flying towards a tree. She saw Ray as a waste of time to deal with. After sending him flying, Kana then charged towards the soldiers, who were still chasing after Ceilie. Kana noticed that Ceilie was getting tired and could not keep dodging the soldiers' attacks for much longer. Kana racked her brain for a way to assist Ceilie but the only thing that came to mind. "Ceilie, stop fighting and retreat deeper into the forest!" This was the only thing Kana could think of. At least, by retreating into the forest, Ceilie could use the forest as a means to slow her pursuers down.
Hearing Kana yell out to her, Ceilie did not hesitate in the slightest to listen to Kana as she jumped into the thicket to the side. Lysairth was quite surprised by Ceilie's actions. First, she did not think a human would kill one of their own to help a dragon who they thought of as monsters. Second, she never expected Ceilie to put so much faith in Kana, leaving her life in Kana's hands and not hesitating at all to follow her orders. "She is definitely an interesting human."
Following Kana's instructions, Ceilie dropped any ideas of attacking anymore and focused purely on running away. Half the soldiers who were focused on Ceilie finally turned their focus on Kana. Which is what Kana hoped for. As the men came running towards her, Kana snorted and shook her butt at them before running in a different direction. This, of course, made Lysairth facepalm.
"Kana, what is your plan?" Lysairth asked. She was very interested in what the young dragon had planned out. There were many things Kana could have done differently, but she chose this method instead, which made Lysaith wonder what she really had planned.
"Well, I first wanted to get rid of these soldiers quickly and then head to Ceilie. For all it is worth, she did save me when I had let my guard down. If that binding spell hit, I may have been in a bad position, no?" Kana knew Lysairth would not warn her if an attack would not harm her. But since Lysairth did try to warn her, it meant that Kana could have been caught if that spell hit.
"You are right. I am not sure how high her magic power is, but with the way she added an amplification chant to her spell, I felt you would have been in danger. Luckily that human girl saved you before she finished calling out her skill name." Lysairth knew if Kana were to be hit with a binding spell, she would have been in trouble. If not for Ceilie, things would be going very differently right now.
Back where Thane and Ray were, Ray crawled up from the ground. Half his face swollen from being hit by Kana. "That fucking lizard! Wait until my father gets bored of parading you around. I will make you feel pain you never imagined! You actually dare hit me!? You dare kill my woman!? I will show you what it means to mess with a noble! I didn't even get to have enough fun with her yet! Fuck!"
"Ray, it is good to see you back to your normal self, but can you give me a hand here? These monkeys are growing in numbers!" Thane yelled over.
The number of monkeys was indeed growing, and Thane was being bombarded with spikes. If he let up on blocking the attacks with his shield, he knew he would not be getting out of here alive without any help. Ray looked at Thane and let out a sigh. Out of all the people he had near him, Thane was his most loyal. But he could not let that dragon get away, nor did he want to let Ceilie go. Since Renne was now dead, he wanted to make Ceilie his woman.
"Thane, you need to hold on for a little longer, okay? I will make sure to come back quickly!" Ray shouted out his reply before running in the direction Ceilie ran in.
Thane stared at the spot Ray disappeared and felt very betrayed. He wondered why he was protecting someone who cared nothing for those who worked under him. "Ahhhh! Fuck it! Mom, Dad, sorry!" Thane yelled out as he took his shield, holding on to the end of it, spun around in circles with it stretched out in front of him, and then tossed it towards the monkeys in the trees. Sadly, in the process of doing this, he was hit by hundreds of spikes. Some bounced off his armor, and some found cracks and stabbed into him. Blood dripped between the cracks of his armor as he turned to run away. He could hear the monkeys in the trees making noises, almost as if they were laughing at him. As he tried to get away, he was continuously bombarded with more spikes. Blood flowed uncontrollably out of the cracks of his armor. His vision started to become blurry, and his movements began to slow. He only got to where Renne's and Isabelle's bodies were before he collapsed to the ground in a pool of his own blood. He had no more energy to run. He had lost too much blood.
The spiked monkeys in the tree saw their prey had collapsed, which led them to bounce up and down in the trees happily. Ten monkeys climbed down the tree cautiously. When they were sure no one else was around, they ran over to the dead bodies on the ground. Three of them grabbed Isabelle's body and dragged her away. Another four grabbed the still semi-conscious Thane and dragged him away as well.
When the three monkeys looked at Renne's body, two of them grabbed her ankles and followed after the others. One monkey, though, picked up her head and tossed it into the air. "Ooo! OOo!" The monkey made some happy sounds as it did a handstand and caught her head with its feet. It then tossed it back up into the air again and flipped back over so it was standing up normally. It caught her head with its tail and ran off to catch up with the other monkeys. The only evidence that three people died here was the pools of blood that were now soaking into the ground and the trail of blood leading off deeper into the forest.
