Chapter 556: Chapter 530: Biological (Thanks to Xiaonan Xue and Shi Bi + more)
“Your Sister Xiao Xi and Fugui are about the same age. As a young man, he has a stable job and high education. Most importantly, we know his father very well. A man who values loyalty as much as his dad should have raised a good son. As a kid, he has always treated his terminally ill mother well. Let’s try to fix things within our family first and only introduce him to others if it doesn’t work out!”
Mother Yu has always been worried about her daughter’s martial affairs. Friends introduce men to her every day, but Xiao Xi hasn’t found anyone she likes. It’s driving the mother crazy.
“Sister Xiao Xi… it’s not suitable, is it? Auntie, Liao Fugui really likes to recite quotes from great men, wouldn’t Sister Xiao Xi slap him?”
Considering Xiao Xi’s strong and independent persona, Xiao Qian imagined her to be the type of woman who’d whip men into shape. Fugui, on the other hand, seemed too submissive for her.
“How would you know if it’s suitable or not without giving it a shot? He can recite famous quotes, and your Sister Xiao Xi can sing sentimental songs, especially ‘The Wandering Songstress,’ which she sings beautifully. Oh, also, ask Fugui to check out the evening gala next week. Your Sister Xiao Xi will be performing!”
“Liao Fugui doesn’t like that kind of woman at all, he—”
Xiao Qian’s words were interrupted by the sound of the door opening. She and Mother Yu looked over to see Liao Fugui standing at the door with a flushed face.
Xiao Qian’s face warmed as well.
Darn it! The adage, ‘Speak of the devil, and he shall appear’ was really true. They had just been gossiping and Fugui had heard it all!
As an experienced psychological expert, Xiao Qian managed to recover quickly from this awkward situation. She acted nonchalant and asked Liao Fugui.
“Do you need something?”
Upon hearing her question, Liao Fugui remembered why he’d come.
“Aunt Qi, my dad seemed to have injured his shoulder. The orthopedic doctors aren’t in until the afternoon. Could you take a look at him?”
“How did he get injured all of a sudden?” Mother Yu asked.
“He got into a fight with someone. Two people barged into Aunt Jia’s ward just now, accusing my dad. They got physical when the argument didn’t go anywhere. It seems like he dislocated his shoulder.”
“What?!” Xiao Qian and Mother Yu exclaimed simultaneously, then quickly followed Liao Fugui to Jia Xiufang’s ward.
In the ward, Jia Xiufang was sobbing uncontrollably on the bed while Father Liao, with one nonfunctional arm, sat in front of the bed, trying to pacify her.
“Old sister, don’t cry. They are just messing around.”
“It’s too much… Are you okay? Does it hurt…” Jia Xiufang asked between sobs.
“What’s going on here? Who did this?” Xiao Qian stormed in, her face grim upon seeing the chaos in the room.
Mother Yu quickly stepped forward, checking on Father Liao.
“Your shoulder joint is dislocated. Let’s go, I’ll give you an anesthetic and perform a realignment. Little sister, don’t cry. It’s not a big deal.”
Seeing her daughter enter, feeling more victimized, Jia Xiufang started crying harder.
“Xiao Qian, comfort your mother. I’ll take Uncle Liao to get his shoulder fixed,” said Mother Yu.
“I’ll go too,” Liao Fugui said, uncomfortable interrupting Xiao Qian’s conversation with her mother, and followed them out.
Only Jia Xiufang and Xiao Qian were left in the room. Xiao Qian wiped away her mother’s tears.
“Mom, keep your emotions in check and tell me who came here just now.”
“Who else could it be? Your Second Auntie and your eldest auntie. As soon as they walked in, they pointed at my nose and cursed, saying I am a bad luck charm who ruined their families…”
“How did they know you were in the hospital? And why did they come to berate you?””Your Auntie’s sister’s child works as a nurse in this hospital, and when she saw me, she told them, and they came looking for me, saying that it was because your Second Uncle was going to lose his job …”
Jia Xiufang explained the whole incident to Xiao Qian.
These two had no idea what had gotten into them. As soon as they entered the room, they pointed fingers at Jia Xiufang and verbally abused her. They used particularly nasty language and even accused Jia Xiufang of being flirtatious. What’s even worse was they called Xiao Qian an illegitimate child, claiming she had trapped Chen Lin and caused Second Uncle’s family to fall into poverty.
Jia Xiufang had just had surgery and couldn’t bear to hear all this. When Second Aunt was yelling, Father Liao had just returned from fetching water. Unable to bear it, he argued with them.
These two shrews were unreasonable, scratching, pushing, and shoving people. Father Liao, as a man, was too embarrassed to fight with these women, and they took advantage of his restraint and made a scene. Second Aunt even wanted to get past Father Liao to scratch Jia Xiufang, who was lying in bed. Father Liao pushed her away with bit of force, and amidst the chaos, he dislocated his shoulder.
Seeing that the situation was turning against them, the two shrews ran off.
“Why are they so bullying! I’m so furious! It’s one thing for them to scold me, but how could they scold you? How come you’re not your father’s child! You were born at home, not in a hospital, there’s absolutely no chance of a mix-up, they’re just too bullying! ”
Jia Xiufang wept so hard that she struggled to catch her breath. Xiao Qian felt a surge of anger as she wiped away her mother’s tears.
After much consoling, Jia Xiufang finally stopped crying. Xiao Qian then rose to make a phone call.
She wanted to know why Second Aunt had suddenly turned on Jia Xiufang like a mad dog. What had happened in the interim?
Unable to reach Yu Minglang on his phone, she called Zheng Xu instead. It took Zheng Xu less than five minutes to find out what happened.
“I don’t know what got into your family’s Siberian Husky. He found out that your Second Uncle was working at his elder brother’s company after retirement. So, he got him fired. Anyway, there must be some reason for his rage,” Zheng Xu said with Schadenfreude.
A cold smile crossed Xiao Qian’s face. “Well done!”
When Yu Minglang went after Trash Dad, he must have done a thorough investigation. He probably knew that before Chen Lin staged the fake usury scheme, he often visited Second Uncle’s house, and it was mostly instigated by the family. Xiao Qian knew that Ming Lang, being a thorough person, wouldn’t spare Second Uncle’s family when dealing with Trash Dad.
“I just checked. Your Second Uncle’s two children are both working for me. Should I fire them?”
“Do it! Within two months, I don’t want to see either of them find any decent job in the city. Can you make that happen?”
“What’s in it for me?”
“My godfather will be here next week. I’ll set up a meeting for you two. Whether things work out is up to you, I’ll just be the matchmaker.”
“Isn’t Director Tang a bit difficult to approach?” Zheng Xu said. He had some business with Tang Daye.
“Maybe for others, but I can easily arrange it.”
Xiao Qian had successfully treated Lily Tang’s anorexia and won over Tang Daye with her personal charm. It was no big deal to fulfill this little wish for her kind godfather.
“All right, I will make sure the ones who have upset you can’t make a living in Qiang City unless they get on their knees!”
Xiao Qian snorted, tacitly accepting Zheng Xu’s proposal.
If Second Aunt hadn’t provoked Jia Xiufang, Xiao Qian wouldn’t have been so ruthless.
No matter what, a mother is a presence that must never be insulted. Second Aunt angered Xiao Qian by uttering such provocative words about her mother.
This matter won’t be settled until she apologizes to Jia Xiufang. If the Second Aunt’s family has the guts, they should sell their house and leave Qiang City. Otherwise, Xiao Qian would make it hard for them to take a single step!
However, why did Second Aunt say that she wasn’t Chen Lin’s child?
