Chapter 304 After Dying, I Woke Up In Ancient Times With My Pharmacy 3.0
304 After Dying, I Woke Up In Ancient Times With My Pharmacy 3.0
The second He Yuan opened his eyes, he looked around desperately. The memory of falling through a white void flashed through his mind as he tried hard to concerntrate. "888?"
No response.
He wasn't surprised since he'd seen the System in his own body in the street. The only problem was... How to find him?
"M-master?"
He Yuan's focus finally settled on his suroundings. He was dressed in his black robes on a large bed covered with black curtains. Through the slit in the curtains, he could see some parts of the chamber and it appeared grand but tastefully designed.
The person who had called out appeared to be a manservant. He cleared his throat before humming, "Hm?"
The manservant took a step forward with a tray in his hands. "M-master had suddenly fallen ill and had b-been brought back by D-deputy general Wei." He gently set the tray on the table. "T-this servant brought Master s-some medicine."
He Yuan pressed a hand to his forehead and went through the events of the past days. Traveling through that white void must have temporarily erased his memory. He understood that but... He looked down at his hands... how was it that he had manifested a physical body?
He reached out a hand and grabbed the bowl of soothing medicine. After taking a careful sniff, he downed the bitter content and set the bowl down.
The manservant carefully picked up the tray. "T-this servant w-would take his leave now."
"Hold on." The manservant stilled and He Yuan extended his hand to open the curtain. It was a young boy, about 16 or 17 with a baby face and a shy disposition. "Your name?"
The manservant stared at his Master in admiration before lowering his head and stammering, "T-this servant w-was named Mu Shu."
He Yuan nodded. He really needed to know 888's whereabouts so he asked, "Mu Shu, have you heard of the man with silvery white hair and greenish blue eyes in the Capital?" He paused and added, "...Or anywhere else?"
Mu Shu frowned. That description was quite peculiar and oddly specific but he was sure, "T-this servant has n-never heard of a person with such characteristics in the Capital... O-or anywhere else."
The second He Yuan's brows furrowed, he rushed to add, "F-forgive my ignorance, Master. T-this servant's horizons are v-very limited."
He Yuan waved it off. "It's fine. You may leave."
Mu Shu nodded slowly and walked out with the tray.
The second the door closed, He Yuan fell back on the bed exasperatedly. It appeared he'd have to go out and ask more questi- wait. He sat up on the bed. He might have been dumped in this realm in his own physical body but he was given basic information about his current role outside of the realm information.
He was the General of the Northern army of Xiangshan and commanded his own special forces accordingly. Which meant... His eyes trailed to the window and his voice rang out, "Come in."
At that moment, a black shadow flew into the room through the window and placed one knee on the ground with a fist against his chest. "Master."
He Yuan raised a brow in satisfaction. A general of ancient times would naturally have a team of shadow guards. Without wasting time, he repeated the same question he'd asked Mu Shu.
At the end, the shadow guard shook his head. "This servant has never heard of such a person."
He Yuan resisted the urge to groan. "Take another person with you and find out."
The shadow guard nodded firmly and swiftly yeeted himself out the window.
Alone in the room once more, He Yuan began going through his memories. Although it had been brief, he was pretty sure the man he'd seen was 888. He could never mistake his System for someone else.
The only other time 888 had been able to manifest a physical body in a realm was in the Zombie Task realm, where he'd assimilated the soul thread of the Leaser into his own soul.
Back in the System Space, the Leaser had fallen into the void with them so did that mean that 888 had somehow attached himself to the Leaser's soul thread?
If that was the case, where was the Leaser's body?
That last question had no definite answer but it was a good start. To find his System, he needed to find the Leaser and to find the Leaser... he had to look around the Special one.
At that thought, He Yuan's left eye twitched. It turned out that the young lady he'd saved earlier was none other than the Special one herself, the transmigrated Lu Xuilan.
What were the odds of running into her the same day she returned to the Capital with her mother?
He Yuan shook his head. That didn't matter now. The Leaser, Lu Wenduo, was a concubine born son of Prime minister Lu so the Lu mansion was a good place to start his investigation.
As for how to go about fixing the Task realm... it was very obvious. Lu Xuilan's pharmacy had got to go. Other than that, he had no other issues with the military doctor because even if she didn't expose Prime minister Lu, one way or the other, the man's shady dealings would have caught up to him and he would've implicated the Lu family anyways.
The Leaser's main problem should be that him and his mother had died unfairly when all they did was keep their heads low in the Lu household, obeyed the rules and minded their own business.
Although He Yuan wasn't really clear on the overall situation, one thing he was clear on was the fact that he was an Intermediate Tasker and was still teethered to the Leaser.
This meant that he had to look for a way to fulfill Lu Wenduo's desires and take him and his mother out of the Lu household before the Prime minister's crimes came knocking.
Back to Lu Xuilan's pharmacy. That was clearly a disaster waiting to happen. He was never given the full timeline of the Special one when receiving the realm information but he didn't need a soothsayer to know that things did not end well.
The weapons and drugs that Lu Xuilan had supplied the Xiangshan country with had come from her pharmacy. This meant that the moment she died, they automatically lost supply of those things.
The other countries had been taken over by Tian Weisheng because of those superior weapons and drugs and when it was discovered that Xiangshan no longer had those things, what would have happened was clear for anyone with a brain to figure out.
Not only would the other countries have joined hands together to make a glorious comeback and suppress Xiangshan, even the people of Xiangshan would've turned against Tian Weisheng!
This would be because, after getting used to the quick acting modern drugs, going back to the slow, bitter and less effective concoctions of the ancient times would've been difficult for their bodies to adapt and they would accuse Tian Weisheng of keeping the drugs away from them when the truth would be that Lu Xuilan was dead and no one else could produce those drugs.
Lu Xuilan might have thought she was doing Xiangshan a favour by introducing those things but in fact, she had set back their natural development by a much longer time!
She had no idea how to create guns and grenades and did not have the facilities to produce drugs so all she did was take those things out of her pharmacy, waited till midnight for them to replenish and then took out some more over time until she had enough to arm Tian Weisheng's soldiers to the teeth.
Again, the whole thing was a disaster waiting to happen!
He Yuan ran a hand over his face. How was he going to make Lu Xuilan's pharmacy disappear?
The light in the General's room remained on all night as the man in question tried to figure out his next steps.
At exactly 4:00am, the shadow guard returned. "Master."
Under the soft glow of the candlelight, He Yuan's eyes flashed in expectantly. "Report."
As if ashamed of being unable to deliver, the shadow guard shook his head stiffly. "We searched the entire Capital but there was no glimpse or mention of such a person."
He Yuan frowned. Did he see wrong? "You searched everywhere?"
"Well everywhere except the mansions of the right and left Prime ministers... and the Imperial palace."
He Yuan gently shook his head from side to side as he contemplated. Those three places mentioned were heavily guarded with hidden forces so it wouldn't do to be too hasty but since these were the only places left, he couldn't rule them out completely.
It was better to look for a way to search those three places by himself but just in case... He cleared his throat. "Extend your search to the surrounding cities outside the Capital."
The shadow guard nodded firmly. "As you wish, Master." And then he was gone.
He Yuan cleared his throat uncomfortably. It wasn't his first time being served by others. One could even say he'd gotten used to such things before he even became a Tasker but when faced with the blind devotion of the shadow guards, it was a little sureal.

It took another 4 hours for He Yuan to leave his chambers. Dressed in a sleek black robe paired with a white inner robe and a white headband -containing his insignia as General of the Northern army- on his forehead, he decided it was time to attend morning court and pay respects to the Emperor of Xiangshan.
