Chapter 31: Nah I Can't Be Bent
Chapter 31: Nah I Can't Be Bent
They sat on the comfy bed as she revealed details, Rong Zian was oblivious too including how he acquired the amulet. As it turns out, the goddess Guang's amulet scattering after completion of the oath two generations ago was to enforce the terms of the oath without interference.
Once the oath was in effect only then could it be altered but it wasn't without difficulty. The trouble was the collection of all the amulet pieces which could only be sensed by a direct descendant of the goddess thus Rong Zian. Each fragment of the amulet was extensively powerful on its own which explains why the giant could control the vines and capture their favourite delicacy.
"Your powers are infinite since you are my only spawn but for some reason, you haven't fully merged with your spiritual self which explains why you don't remember anything you do. What triggers your power is fear, which is highly inconvenient so you have to figure out how to merge otherwise your spiritual self makes you brazen and you might offend the people around you," she spoke with a grave expression purely concerned for him. Like an obedient child, he simply nodded in agreement but had no idea how he was going to merge and was still coming to terms with all this overwhelming information.
Rong Zian wouldn't be Rong Zian without day-dreaming while being lectured. He was pretending to be attentive with a fixed expression but was thinking of a cool superhero name for himself,
'How about I call myself Pretty Boy. Aish..no that sounds like a K-pop boy band besides I might attract the wrong attention. Hmm..maybe Badass will be better but I definitely won't join the avengers with that kind of name, censorship reasons. Hmm.' His thought process was suddenly obliterated by a stinging pain on his forehead. He gasped in disbelief all wide-eyed staring at his mother, "You flicked me. You fuc-fre-freaking flicked my forehead. Why on earth would you do that?" he complained, quickly swapping a swear word when he remembered to whom he was speaking to.
Enraged, she flicked his forehead one more time as he murmured, "Fudge" gritting his teeth.
"Useless just like your father busy daydreaming while I'm lecturing you. I'm fed up, it's time you go back," scolding him and before he knew what hit him, she said, "Oh, by the way, this is for all that cursing you did at me while you were binge drinking," and slapped him right across the face. Everything became black again as he struggled to open his eyes.

For the third time Rong Zian was waking up from yet another blackout, his head throbbing as though he had been smashed into a wall multiple times. As if an agonising headache wasn't enough, half his face stung from the openhanded smack left by that spiteful goddess, aka his mother, though there was no visible welt. With great difficulty, he finally opened his teary eyes but soon wished he hadn't.
Wu Yange's sword was hovering above his forehead, its sapphire flames radiating with restraint heat awaiting instructions like an obedient child. Reluctant to move, he scanned around the room for Wu Yange till he caught sight of his nerve-racking shadowy figure in the ill-lit room.
Lightly clearing his throat seemingly aware that the slightest movement will result in a superfluous scar on his princely face, he asked, "What kinky game are you playing now? Recall your stupid sword, it's fuckin' burning my face!"
The sword let out an aggravated hissing sound lowering itself closer to his face. A wide-eyed Rong Zian figured he had offended the hot-tempered sword and promptly pleaded with it as though it had a conscience. "Okay, okay relax let's not act rash. I apologise, I shouldn't have insulted you," he implored with the sword with no avail.
Wu Yange stretched his hand and ordered, "Li Wei return."
The sword returned to its master still agitated but when Rong Zian heard its name, he couldn't hold back the laughter.
"Pfft.....HAHAHA!" he burst out laughing as he rose from the bed, "your sword has a gir-girly name HAHAHA...what were you thinking naming it beautiful rose? Oh my Ah-Yange you are something else."
With teary eyes and loss of breath, he laughed so hard oblivious to the impending danger looming that he continued provoking him. "Wa-wait, is..is that why HAHAHA you don't have a girlfriend?" as he held his stomach.
Just as he finished his ill-advised mockery he found himself pinned against the wall by a livid Wu Yange with no means to escape. The most rational and indifferent prince stared him down with a dark look, clenching his jaw as though holding back. If his goal was to intimidate Rong Zian then he had hit a home run.
A terrified Rong Zian avoided his penetrating gaze like the plague but its intense fury burrowed through his cheeks heating his skin till his whole face was scarlet red. Wrapped up in all that fright was another shameful feeling that caused his heart to tremble suddenly realising how enticing an angry Wu Yange was.
"What are you?" asked Wu Yange in a deep magnetic voice that could bewitch masses and make any boldfaced person blush. Rong Zian was no exception, his heart shamelessly fluttered lured in by its charisma. 'WTF is wrong with me? Nah I can't be bent,' he thought as he summoned the courage to push him away.
"Okay, okay fine. I will tell you just don't be this close," he said rubbing his forehead in an attempt to alleviate the now intensified headache.
