Chapter 86
86 I Can Fit In
Since she was playing Solo, Rong Yue had to sometimes face people that had teamed up in two to a staggering number of seven to get to the main target.
Like many video games that would be developed later on, this one had a main goal of players getting to the end goal of each level without being killed
The hard part of the game was the fact that, your score and equipments would also increase with the number of killings and enemy defeating that you do.
So while one could clear a level by hiding and tricks until they got to the main target like Wang Bo and Wang An, their score level would be low.
The first two people that Rong Yue met were of two levels higher than them and Wang An shouted “Quick Hide!” The moment he saw them moving towards her.
“Hiding would only make you weak.”
Before either of them could launch an attack, Rong Yue pressed two buttons on her control immediately annihilating the two of them and then advanced forward.
She was surprised to see that unlike latter games, she wasn’t able to pick the spoils of her war in this one.
Like that, she advanced gradually, taking enemies with her along the way.
.....
At this point, not just Wang Bo, even Wang An was already struck speechless as he looked at her with extreme shock.
“Do you think she plays this game usually?” Wang Bo asked his brother in a whisper as he watched as Rong Yue navigated around men that were in a group of six easily.
“It’s possible, she’s playing like those professionals.” Wang An whispered, afraid to disturb her.
After about twenty minutes, Rong Yue cleared two levels. More than that, she unlocked an kill overlord for taking down all the enemies in those two levels which took her level to an immediate ten steps higher.
“Fvck! How is this possible.” Wang An yelled out as he shot out from the seat.
“Fifth young master, Your grandfather has instructed that if you use cuss words more than twice a day, you are to do the family punishment. This is your second time already.” A middle aged man appeared from the hallway that was closest to the living room, shocking the two brothers while Rong Yue chuckled in amusement.
She had noticed him standing there and thought that they wanted him to watch her movements, she would never have imagined that he was there because of Wang An.
“Did you take notes down?” Rong Yue asked with a teasingly sweet smile that had Wang An who was already angry even angrier while Wang Bo sat there with pursed lips as he looked at all the labels that were being displayed on the screen.
The three of them watched the number rankings in front of them move up at a frightening speed and then stopped when it was on the list of the top twenty people.
“Just how many people did you kill?” Wang Bo asked, as he finally closed his mouth that had slackened from surprise.
“I think 60 on one level and 80 on the other level.”
“Rong Yue! Why did you use his ID to play? Now I have to endure him being at an higher level than mine!” Wang An roared out, his face turning red from anger.
The both of them had been in about eighty something which he had accepted. But now that Rong Yue had used Wang Bo’s account to play, he had left him with a very large gap.
“You can apply all that I taught you from this one to your game and you would be able to reach him in no time.” Rong Yue said cheekily as she stood up, picking the paper bag that was beside her the whole time with her.
As Rong Yue was about to go up to her room, a maid walked up to her.
“Miss Rong, grand elder asked that I bring you to his study.”
Master Wang’s study was a separate building on its own and they had to leave the main house and walk down a little before getting to it.
However, from the scene around, Rong Yue could understand why he had chosen that place as his study since people that dealt with art usually need a good source of inspiration and calm to be able to paint without restriction.
“Master.”
Rong Yue greeted politely as soon as he opened the large oak wood doors for her.
The study was simple and spacious with large ceiling to floor windows.
“Rong Yue.”
Rong Yue looked at her master’s solemn face as she sat down on the heated padded floor in front of him. From the first time she had met him, this was the first time that he had such a serious expression on his face.
“Is everything okay?”
“Hmmm, I’m just worried about tomorrow. I might have called you in a rash of excitement without thinking of how you can blend in there or how you would take to an environment like that.” He confessed.
After she had arrived last night, he realized that with his little knowledge of her family, an occasion like this might be very challenging to her.
Not only that, she could even lose her creative spirit if she had to face people like this early on.
“I grew up with my mother alone. But we worked for an aristocratic family in city A before we eventually left when I was twelve. I understand the mannerisms and behaviors that are expected in such gatherings.” Rong Yue said as she quickly understood everything that he was trying to say.
Rong Yue went on to say some of the things she was expecting like some petty tricks and the fierce competition that was always among aristocratic families.
“Nobody there knows me. And I have nothing to hide anyway.” She added with a shrug that had the old man laughing also.
Even though he had already guessed that she didn’t come from a good background considering that her family hadn’t rushed to meet with him and how she was ready to sell her arts away, he had not expected her reality to be this way
And the way she had said it like it was the most normal thing, like it wasn’t a disadvantage for her made him even more impressed.
“Okay, if you say so.” Master Wang Shu said with a resigned smile and then stood up.
“Although we can’t tell you what the question is going to be tomorrow, in fact, the question has yet to be decided upon, but what is acceptable is allowing you to know your competition.”
“Follow me.” Master Wang Shu said Rong Yue stood up and followed him into a door by end of the study room.
“We have seven masters including me, in the art association. Which means that tomorrow, you would be competing against six people.” Master Wang started and then led her into another room that was a lot bigger than the room from before.
However, it had a lot of shelves and many papers and scrolls, it was not hard to guess that it was a storage room.
“The best among them is Luo Yunxi, the boy has won several paintings but this is his best work. And I’m sure you would be able to tell his strength from this. Over the years, his growth has slowed down tremendously since he is quite an arrogant one. I’m sure you would hand him a blow.” Master Wang Shu said with a scheming chuckle.
It was not hard to see that he had extreme confidence.
“The next best one among them is Bai Lu, the girl has constantly shown great growth in all that she does, with her family as her backing, she has the chances of reaching the peak faster than anyone. You must be very careful however, of the ones that appear to be the nicest.” He warned and then passed her a second scroll.
Rong Yue nodded earnestly, having some idea before hand was also not a bad thing and it would at least make her prepared.
“Ning Li is the third one you will be meeting, although her master has another student, he is currently not around and would not be competiting.”
After a brief intro on them all and giving them scrolls of their best works, master Wang Shu left Rong Yue in the room alone with her thoughts.
Rong Yue sat there in silence and looked through each of their works. They were all good and she could remember that back then, there had been Bai Lu, daughter of the Bai family, a family that was a second teir family in the capital.
She had occupied the top position in the past life until one of Rong Yue’s work had blown up internationally.
Although they had never met, she had been a threat to her work but back then, Bai Lu had gotten ten years to use to prove herself and take the position she wanted.
She looked at Ning Li’s work one more time and then wrapped all the scrolls back before leaving the room.
“You are done?” Master Wang asked as soon as she came out.
“Hmmm, I have checked them all.”
“The important thing is not to just win. It is to win without using your full strength. Until you have grown beyond now, your competitors should not know your full capabilities.”
Rong Yue felt her heart warm up immediately and she nodded her head heartily.
“I understand master.”
